February 10th arrived with a calm breeze drifting through the Hayashi Clan village. The morning sun lit the rooftops with a soft golden glow. In one of the clan homes, Yumi sat on her bed, brushing her hair with a quiet smile. She wasn't planning much — just another day, even if it was her 20th birthday.
Then—
Knock knock.
She tilted her head, confused. Not many people knew where she lived exactly.
Opening the door, her heart skipped.
"…Riku?"
He stood there with a calm smile, hands behind his back. "What, you think I'd forget it's your birthday?"
Yumi's cheeks instantly flushed pink. "I… I wasn't really planning to do anything…"
"Well," he said, stepping forward, "now you are."
He handed her a small gift bag and a wrapped box.
She blinked, opening them carefully. Inside was a silver bracelet with small glowing gems in her favorite color, elegant earrings to match, and a sleek new dagger crafted with an obsidian handle and a shimmering blade inscribed with the word: "Yumi."
"I figured you'd want something that looked good and fought better," Riku said with a slight grin.
Yumi was already blushing. "Riku, this is… really thoughtful…"
But then, he pulled out a small black case and opened it to reveal two matching silver necklaces, each with half of the Hayashi Clan symbol. The two halves, when brought together, made a complete mark — a swirling current with twin blades at its heart.
"These aren't just jewelry," Riku said. "As long as we're wearing them… we'll be able to sense each other's energy. Even across cities."
Her eyes widened.
Then, without a word, she stepped forward and hugged him — tight.
"Thank you," she whispered, her face still burning red.
Riku awkwardly patted her back. "Uh… you're welcome. So—want to go buy matching outfits? Then head somewhere fun?"
Yumi stepped back, now flustered and smiling. "Y-Yeah… Sure!"
They left soon after, walking through the village toward the clan's market streets. Yumi picked matching tracksuits — black with silver lines and the Hayashi Clan symbol stitched on the back and chest. One in her size, and one for Riku.
"You sure these aren't too flashy?" he asked.
"I like them," she said, smirking.
"Then let's go."
Their destination?
Shibuya.
Bright lights. Crowded streets. Food. Fun. And maybe — just maybe — something more.
