Kai waited off to the side, sorting out his plans as he sat on a broken bench at a bus stop.
There were two main things that he had in mind.
First, the two 1st Echelon Awakeners also knew about his other identity as the Immortality Lord. Now that he had reunited with his family, he had the thoughts of killing them since he should be able to spare some time to kill them.
However, after thinking it over, Kai decided to deal with them later—just as he had planned from the start.
He intended to let them go for now because he was certain they wouldn't try anything reckless; their only bargaining chip in any negotiation was that they knew his secret.
Unbeknownst to them, Kai didn't care about that backup plan because once they were dead and raised as undead, he could simply command them to reveal everything, and the problem would vanish.
The second thing that concerned him was the fact that he still hadn't received his advancement mission.
He speculated he might need to achieve something first, but then remembered he hadn't even logged into Worldbreaker Online yet.
So Kai guessed he'd receive the mission then. Otherwise, he'd be in serious trouble—he'd never heard of this happening in his previous life.
Normally, everyone received an advancement mission upon maxing out a rank. When no notification came after Kai reached the maximum Unranked level, he grew restless but he had put it to the side as he had no time to mull it over with his parents' safety unknown.
As Kai was still lost in thoughts, he came back to his senses when he heard Nana's voice.
"Brother Kai, everyone is ready. Let's go!"
Kai smiled at her excitement. "Alright, let's depart right away."
He then resurrected the kobolds and said to Uncle Liam,. "Uncle Liam, I'll leave these guys with you to 'protect' the others."
Uncle Liam nodded his head as he understood the assignment. "Leave it to me."
When they were about to arrive at Kai's house, someone shouted. "There are a lot of goblins ahead."
"Don't worry, they are Brother Kai's subordinates." Nana said with a proud expression, crossing her little arms as she looked at everyone.
Everyone shook their heads helplessly. 'Sure! We know that your brother is the best.'
"1st Echelon Goblin Commander?" Luca muttered with a bitter smile.
"Hmmph! I've told you that…"
Before Nana could finish, Liora covered her mouth. "Little girl, you can talk about anything except that."
Nana pouted unhappily, puffing out her cheeks as she snorted and looked to the side.
"Mom, Dad, I've packed a lot, so we can head out right away," Kai said, gazing at the house with mixed feelings.
"Let's go, we'll go here once in a while after the situation becomes better." Darius patted his shoulder as he walked past him.
Kai exhaled, took one last look, and caught up to the others.
Last time, he'd left this house after burying his family in the front yard.
This time, he left together with them—beginning a new journey with new goals.
His priorities now were to grow stronger faster, find a cure for Nana's legs, and keep his family safe.
…
As they headed east toward Kai's former place, he had his undead goblins sweep far ahead, clearing every monster they encountered.
After going for around two kilometers, Kai looked at his phone and saw that the signal was back and notifications from the government could be seen.
He couldn't be bothered to look at them as he ordered his undead goblins to search for trucks for them to use because he didn't want to waste a lot of time by going there slowly.
A minute later, an undead Goblin Captain reported to Kai that he found two trucks. Even though the ice trucks weren't big, they were more than enough for all of them to hop in at the back and to use it momentarily.
Subsequently, Kai put all of his undead goblins except for the Goblin Commander and Goblin Captains.
He didn't put them away because he needed them to clear the street since there were broken vehicles, corpses, and monsters around the street.
When they were about to arrive at the place where he met Cedric for the first time, Kai finally saw the sight of Cedric and the others as he sat above the truck leisurely.
"Do you want to go on a picnic or something?" Cedric chuckled as he looked at the ice trucks that were filled with people.
Kai jumped down from the truck and responded with a smile. "Of course, we're going to move to a much better place for now."
He continued, "Come, pull up. We'll go there right away."
Before Cedric could ask, Nana shouted from inside the truck excitedly. "Brother Kai! Let me ride the wolf again!"
Kai shook his head helplessly and called the level 24 Darkfang Wolf as he picked Nana from Liora's arms.
Nana immediately hugged the wolf happily again since she really missed its fluffy fur.
"We're going to the Celestine Apartment. Come with us!" Kai explained to Cedric and invited him.
"Alright then, if you say so." Cedric replied before introducing his wife, "This is my wife, Amara."
"Nice to meet you, I'm Kai." Kai nodded and shook Amara's hand with a polite smile.
"Nice to meet you too, I'm Amara. I've heard a lot about you from my husband." Amara smiled back.
Looking at Amara's expression when she greeted him, Kai thought for a second before asking Cedric. "You haven't explained yet?"
"Not yet. It's not that I doubt you, but you know…" Cedric smiled bitterly as he shook his head.
"I understand." Kai naturally understood that Cedric didn't want to give false hope to her wife.
Even though the chance of failure was slim in Cedric's opinion, as he trusted Kai's healing ability, he still didn't want to tell his wife yet at the moment.
"Don't worry, I'm 100% confident that I will be able to do it after advancing to the 1st Echelon Rank." Kai patted Cedric's shoulder before walking toward Vanya.
Kai ignored Vanya as he squatted in front of the little girl beside her.
"Hi there. What's your name? How old are you?" He gently stroked her hair.
The little girl was just a little higher than Nana, dressed in simple brown clothes with a ponytail hairstyle. She looked nervous as she twitched her small hands on her clothes.
"Hello, sir. My name is Viona, and I'm almost 7 years old." Viona replied politely.
Sigh!
Kai sighed softly when he looked at her hands, as there were scars on her fingers and palms.
"How did you get these?" he asked, smiling as he held her hands and cast a healing spell.
When Kai peeled off a band-aid from her hand, Viona was surprised when she saw the wounds were healed instantly and her scars were gone in an instant.
"I-I got them helping aunties with chores to earn money, but sometimes I broke things and made my sister pay," she whispered, tears welling at the memory.
"Kai! How dare you make a little girl cry like that?!" Liora immediately got off the truck and hurriedly went toward Kai in anger.
'This…'
Kai was speechless as he looked at his mom. 'Why am I always in the wrong in her eyes?'
Sigh!
He sighed deeply, resigning himself to his fate.
