Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 - Victor Tells The Truth

"My Barrier Magic can't be broken by a pathetic attack like that."

Henry Smith said, calmly.

The incoming arrows shot by the archer goblins were blocked by Henry Smith's "Barrier Magic".

"He can use Barrier Magic?"

"I've heard that not many people possess that type of magic!"

"He must want to protect others, that's why he possesses Barrier Magic!"

The abilities possessed by Scythes reflected their personality, and mindsets. If a Scythe desired that he wants be a 'Mage' since childhood then he would develop the same ability he wished for before awakening as a Full fledged Scythe. The same can be applied when a child is influenced by or admires a Scythe he/she wants to be like. People can awaken their abilities by who or what they're influenced by. Awakening one's abilities can be varied and different. Such as; Influence, desire, wish, jealousy, fear, and many others.

In Henry Smith's case, his "Barrier Magic" was influenced by his brother, his mentor, his idol.

"Barriers Magic" in itself was unique because most people do not want to protect others by risking their own lives, and only think of themselves. The people in this world develop their powers based on their desires, and those same powers speak for themselves, telling a lot about a person just by the power and ability they possessed. I, myself do not know, but I can only guess how people think or see one another behind their back. By this logic, Henry Smith was a selfless person who cared for others, and wanted to protect them with all he had. Even if he himself did not want to be a protector in the beginning, the influence that was showered upon him since childhood must have made him want to protect others. Did Henry Smith protect others for himself or for someone else? Or did he wanted to be like his mentor? Or did he just wanted to impress others by his actions of heroism? No one can say for certain except for Henry Smith himself.

People will judge you behind your back, but will never say a word to your face. They will talk bad about you with others, curse you, and spread hate. Such is one of the many natures of humans.

"The arrows were stopped by a barrier. But who of these humans possesses "Barrier Magic."

The Goblin King Shaman thought, wondering whose "Barrier Magic" that was.

"Doesn't matter. I'll kill them either way."

The Goblin King Shaman thought again, shrugging off the barrier problem.

"Send another wave of arrows!"

He ordered, calmly, raising his right arm.

As he ordered another wave of arrows to be shot towards the Scythes, the archer goblins accepted the order with no hesitation, and shot the second wave of arrows.

However, that was in vain as the second wave of arrows were blocked just like the first one by the still erected barrier.

"What? It still holds strong!"

The Goblin King Shaman commented irritatingly on the barrier's defensive capabilities.

"Keep shooting. It'll break at some point."

He added, shrugging off the barrier problem once again.

Receiving their orders, the archer goblins kept on shooting more arrows until they finally ran out of all of them which were now on the ground in front of the erected barrier.

"You're not very smart, are you? Can't you understand that you can't break a barrier by normal means or physical attacks alone. Only someone who's stronger than me can break my barrier. Even then they would still have a little trouble. You have brains, but at the same time, you don't. It's only there for decoration. You unintelligent, stupid monsters. That's why you're at the bottom of the monster food chain. Just looking at you makes me sick. And, that says a lot about me because I don't necessarily hate monsters. Disgusting creatures!"

Henry Smith expressed his disdain, as if preforming a public speech to a big audience.

"I agree!"

"I don't hate monsters that much except for goblins!"

"The way these things look just pisses me off!"

"Monsters are hideous, and scary, but I swear I've never seen monsters as hideous as them!"

Some stayed silent, while others added their own disdain.

The language barrier could not be crossed between humans, and monsters. However, language barrier or not, the Goblin King Shaman could sense the endless insults, the hatred, the disdain, the disgust that was thrown at him, and his fellow goblins. This had made him extremely angry, and frustrated.

Goblins are unintelligent creatures. This is a universal truth in this world, and everyone knows that. However, the same cannot be said for those who are of higher ranks, and levels than normal goblins.

Goblin King Shaman thought of humans as weak, and lowly creatures, while on the other hand, humans thought of goblins as weak, and lowly creatures.

Now, after all that said, which side tells the truth, you might ask? There is but only one answer; Whichever side is the victor tells the truth.

Angered, and frustrated by the Scythe's insults, and seeing the performance, and pathetic excuse of an attack by the archer goblins which was worth -5 star rating, he raised his left hand in which he held a crystal-like orb, and muttered a single word, "Perish," and completely annihilated, and burned the archer goblins, leaving only their ashes behind.

The sudden turn of events shocked everyone in the throne room.

"Killing your own kind, huh? I'd expect no less!"

The raid leader said, expressing his disgust.

"Kill them! All of them!"

The Goblin King Shaman yelled, furiously.

Being scared that they might become goblin charcoal next, every goblin, and goblin guard in the throne room charged an assault with weapons in hands towards the Scythes.

"Unbreakable Shields, Multiply"

Henry Smith said, calmly.

After uttering that phrase, the erected barrier that was in front of the Scythes which protected them from the arrows disappeared, and formed around every individual Scythe us a sphere, now protecting them from all directions.

Taking advantage of the protection from the barrier around them, every Scythe went on offense, and completely ignored defense.

The way everyone fought with their weapons, the way their weapons clashed against the weapons of goblins, and goblin guards. The way everyone fought with their magic, the way they casted, and launched their magic at the enemies, it was as if seeing a brilliant light show at night with the lights shining as brightly as possible.

Every attempts the goblins made to strike them was futile, because while they were being protected by Henry Smith's "Barrier Magic", a healer was on standby to heal anyone who got injured.

One by one, goblins fell to the ground like flies. In less than five minutes, every goblin, and goblin guard was dead, leaving only the Goblin King Shaman behind.
