Chapter 27 - Chapter 28

Blood in the Silence

Lex slammed the office door shut behind him.

Muri and Sky both turned sharply, caught in the tension between truth and betrayal.

"There's more," Lex said, his voice a cold storm. "Muri's accident? It wasn't random. I just got a call from the security officer on duty that night. The footage was erased."

Sky's eyes widened. "By who?"

Lex's jaw tightened. "My father."

Silence dropped like a guillotine.

Muri swayed slightly. "That's not possible. Your father died—weeks after the crash."

Lex nodded grimly. "Exactly. And maybe that wasn't an accident either."

Suddenly, Muri gasped, one hand flying to her head.

A memory. Blurred. Twisting.

Rain. Screeching tires.

A black car pulling in front of hers.

A man's voice—"Get her away from the company."

Then... nothing.

She staggered back, clutching the edge of Sky's desk.

"I remember the road," she whispered. "The headlights. I wasn't alone. Someone forced me off the road."

Lex stepped forward. "Muri—"

She looked up at him, eyes wide. "Your father. He wanted me gone."

Sky turned away, stunned.

"And Muse—" she paused, correcting herself, "Micah… he knew."

Sky looked at her, voice laced with hurt. "He used me, didn't he?"

Muri didn't answer.

She didn't have to.

Sky backed up, shaking his head. "I let him in. I thought I meant something to him."

Now, the room held only three people—but all of them were shattering.

And somewhere else in the city, Micah stood in an empty church, staring at a file labeled:

Cartwright Legacy — Phase 2.

And he smiled.
