Chapter 22 - Damn It! Why Now?

Noah watched Matthew as that man chatted with Diana Kurt outside the car. He was curious about their conversation.

He wanted to know what she wanted, but Matthew asked him to get in the car first. He promised to take care of her.

Noah didn't know what Matthew had told Diana. However, looking at her terrified expression, he knew that whatever Matthew said to her was not soft and kind words.

Moments later, he watched Diana hurry toward the road to hail a taxi, not looking back as if someone were trying to take her life.

"Matthew, thanks for handling her," Noah said after Matthew finally got into the car and sat beside the driver.

Matthew smiled while glancing at the back row to see Noah. "No need to thank me, Sir. That's my job to handle such a thing..."

"By the way, what did you say to her?" Noah asked with curiosity.

"Nothing much; I just mentioned that if she shows up again and starts talking about you and the company, she might find herself lonely and wary in jail for quite a while. We're committed to addressing all the offenses we know about her."

"Ah, I see..." Noah briefly commented. Now he understands why Diana ran for her life.

Noah no longer asked Matthew anything. He was lost in deep thought, staring at the scenery outside. However, his cell phone vibrated shortly after, and Edgar's name appeared on the screen.

"Edgar, you called at the right time..." He greeted him, eager to learn about Ryan White's situation.

"Sir, I guessed you would ask about Ryan White?" Edgar asked.

"Yes. You guessed it right. Good job catching him. Where did you find him?" He thought Ryan would hide longer since he had many connections in this city, but they captured him in just a few hours instead.

Edgar chuckled softly before responding, "Thanks to you, sir. We couldn't do it without your assistance."

Noah was confused. He recalled that he hadn't done anything to help them. "Me? How so?"

"Ryan White was hiding in Julia Hart's house. When Julia called you this morning, the system accurately identified his location, making it easy for us to capture him there," Edgar explained.

Noah was shocked; he hadn't anticipated this outcome. Out of curiosity, he answered the phone to hear what the woman wanted. Thankfully, his choice assisted Edgar and his team in capturing him.

"Glad I can help you, Edgar!" Noah replied casually.

After listening to Edgar's report on the fate of the White Group company for a while, the car finally stopped.

He was surprised they had reached the luxury Millennium Apartment in town. He seldom traveled this main street before, but now he resides there.

"Sir, you own a condominium on the fiftieth floor, and it is newly refurbished with luxury stuff," Matthew chirpily informed as they headed toward the exclusive elevator.

Only residents on the 49th and 50th floors had access to the elevator, and it happened that he and Jason would stay there on the 49th.

Noah quietly listened, taking in every detail Matthew shared about his temporary house while they walked through the luxurious lobby.

Just as they reached the elevator, a voice that Noah didn't want to hear echoed from a nearby direction.

"Noah? What the hell are you doing here?"

'Damn it, Jack! Why now?' Noah cursed in his mind for running into someone who constantly bullied him verbally, one of Julia's followers. He's even more ruthless and vicious than Ryan White.

"Sir, let me handle him—"

Noah looked at Matthew and noticed that his usually calm eyes had taken on a tense appearance.

"Thanks, Matthew. But no need. I will take care of him myself. You can stay at ease but on guard beside me," He smiled to put Matthew at ease before shifting his attention to Jack.

Even though Matthew seems worried about letting him face the malicious man walking toward them, he will stay back to stand by if he needs him.

"Jack!" Noah replied calmly, avoiding his question. Observing Jack's puzzled expression as he scanned him from head to toe brought a smile to his face.

Noah could guess what Jack was thinking now. Jack must be shocked, looking at the expensive clothes he was wearing now.

"If you don't have anything to say, I will be on my way now, Jack!" he said, avoiding conversation to prevent his revenge ledger from ruining his life.

"Alright. Hold on a minute, will you? Please? Let me ask you something. Are you truly Noah Morgan?" Jack finally managed to speak. He was in disbelief that Noah was in his apartment, and to make matters more surprising, he was dressed in high-end brands.

"Jack, that was a ridiculous question. I need to leave now; I can't talk to you!" Noah stated. Just as he was about to head for the VIP elevator, Jack halted him again.

"Oi, Noah... Why the hurry? Come on, let's talk for a minute...Just a minute," Jack chirped, attempting to hold Noah's arm. However, he paused when he noticed the man in the corner looking his way.

"Oh wow! Noah, you, you..." Jack's hearty laughter filled the air, catching Noah off guard. He leaned in closer, speaking softly, "Noah, is it true that you have a new sponsor?"

Noah can't believe what he heard. 'Hell, should I throw him into the street now?' he wondered, suppressing his annoyance.

Jack stood next to Noah and put his arm around his shoulders.

"After you failed to get Julia, have you managed to connect with a wealthy guy? Have you changed your tastes to a man now?"

He laughs mockingly, enjoying Noah's calm expression, turning to anger. This is precisely what he wanted: to see someone filled with rage, fear, and helplessness!

'Sir, this man is deranged. Would you like me to break his leg?' A playful voice suddenly echoed in Noah's mind, startling him.

Noah was utterly shocked to hear Matthew's voice suddenly in his mind. If he hadn't encountered his Wealth Management System, he might have fainted at the sound of someone speaking to him in his mind like that.

'M-Matthew, you really can talk telepathically to me like this?' Noah asks, trying to make sure he didn't hear it wrong.

'Yes, Sir, I can telepathically reach out to you because I'm your loyal assistant bonded by your system. It's really a cool system, Sir.'

Matthew chuckled with a crisp laugh that echoed in his mind, causing Noah to glance at him in shock. He didn't know his system could grant this ability if the loyalty was 100%.

'Ah, I see. It's fine, don't hurt that deranged guy. I will handle him myself.' Noah responds.

'Got it, Sir. I know you can handle him. But, if I may suggest, please don't tire yourself out with a lowly peasant like him, Sir.'

'Hahaha, you're the first person brave enough to say that to Jack; he might go crazy if he hears you.' Noah laughs at Matthew's comment about Jack. 'This man is the wealthiest in this city. No one dares to stand up to him.'

'Please, Sir, remember your identity.'

'Ah, you are right...' Noah chuckled, rubbing his neck to ease tension after Jack tried to make him angry. 'I will handle him faster!'

'Yes, Sir. I'll cover your surroundings. Good luck, Sir.'

'Ah, Matthew, can I cripple him? I mean, this man might sue me?' Noah asked again while glancing at Matthew.

'Feel free to do as you wish. I'm happy to clean him for you.'

'You are the best, Matt!' Noah chuckled inwardly, feeling his confidence grow. He smiled and turned his attention back to Jack.

A moment later, his smile faded, revealing a growing coldness in his gaze. "Are you done speaking nonsense, Jack?"
