Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: An Unprecedented Operation

The sight of his friend, Kevin was presented to him which horrified and scarred him to his core. Kevin was holstered upon the wall however how he was presented was mentally jarring.

His figure was mounted onto the wall similar to a trophy by a hunter. His arms were crucified with two great metal nails spread out and his legs brought together as blood trickled down his clothes.

There was a small puddle of blood that was at his feet which drenched and passing through the wooden floorboards to the floor below.

His figure subconsciously backed away crawling on the harsh and cold boards before his figure was brought to and end by crashing not into the cold wall but a soft mass which made him look up.

The body of Kyle was looking down on him, his lifeless beady eyes glancing at him however unlike Kevin who was in a much dire state.

His gut was gutter out, his intestines hanging out of his body as it was mounted similar to Kevin's body while some of his organs were left callously all over the floor.

Andrew who was on the floor saw the blood that was fresh on his prints, glancing at I as he scrambled to get back on his feet. His chest was heaving up and down as he tried to get his bearings of the situation.

Rubbing his hands against his clothes, he walked towards Kevin who looked at him, his face spent making it clear that he was on the verge of losing consciousness. "Kevin! What happened?!" He asked as his brain tried to rack up what to do.

The mind of Andrew, a twelve year old was completely baffled with what to do in the situation that he was in. 'Should I go call for help or should I wait here and help him myself?'

His mind was torn apart as he glanced at Kevin before coming to a conclusion. Stretching out his hands and reaching for the nails that were gunned to the hard cold wall.

"Ahhhh!!!" Kevin screamed in pain when Andrew tried to set him free making him stop. "Andrew! Just leave me here and get help." His breathe ragged before his eyes landed back to Kyle's figure. "I should have known that this was a bad idea."

He was the sole reason for them to be in this situation and the overbearing guilt was weighing heavy on his shoulders. Realizing that he lacked the strength to pry the nails off the walls.

"Very well." Andrew mused as he was about to leave before he came to a halt at the door frame looking back at Kevin's figure.

*Cough-Cough*

His figure almost fell to the floor as the reality of his respiratory problems hit him like a tonne of bricks. He could feel an inflammation all over his chest, making him give way and collapse.

"Andrew!" Kevin shouted as he saw this, worried about his friend however he was in no position to help him in any way. For Andrew, the world around him was spinning fast, his vision blurry not to mention the dusty air wasn't making it any better.

"Get up Andrew!" He could vaguely hear Kevin's voice however his body was in excruciating pain. Knowing that his inhaler was back at home, he could only deal with the situation as it was.

As much as he wanted, it would seem that his body refused to get up. His figure greedily breathing in air which would make his situation worse making his body convoluted resulting with hyperventilation adding more to the problem.

Within his distressed state, Kevin heard the sound of footsteps drawing closer to where he was. "Andrew! Get out of here now!!" He screamed however his pleas fell on deaf ears.

Andrew who was wriggling and crawling on the ground vaguely heard the sound of steps which trudgingly forced him to stand up back on his feet. The rhythmic reverberating throughout the floor boards.

His movements clunky and janky as he moved all over the halls, clutching onto the walls to support his figure however at the cost of stealth as he bumbled all over the place.

The sound of items trailing him which echoed all over the manor. The sight was so till he came onto the flight of stairs that was presented to him. He knew that it would cause more damage to him should he come tumbling down thus he was left holding onto the rails.

"So there was another." A voice brought him back to the situation that he was making him look back and seeing a strange figure. It was adorned in a dark cloak masking his figure.

What made him stand out was the mask on his face, similar to a plague doctor's mask in his deathly attire drawing closer and closer to Andrew who was clutching onto his chest, the burden of the inflammation a plague to him.

Presented with the option to either fall down the stairs and risk cracking his neck or wait for the masked individual to catch up to where he was. His mind caught in a storm and before he could make a decision, the sounds of the footsteps were right behind him.

Looking back, before his eyes could get a proper look on his victimizer, a hard impact landed on the back of his head. The sight of the stairs was the last thing he saw before his world went dark.

The figure now present could be seen for what he was. An individual dressed in a dark fur coat mixed with feathers tailoring a death plague attire. His dark gloves were drenched in blood as he looked below at the set of stairs on the boy who was callously strewn.

He contemplated about something as he looked back at the room Kevin was down at the hall before looking back at Andrew.

*One hour later*

"Ugh!" Andrew groaned as he tried to gauge his surroundings. Before he could look around, the sharp glare of lights flooded his vision forcing him to close his eyes once more. He could hear the world around him as well feel what was going on.

A mind numbing sharp pain was present on his head however he ran into his first problem. He couldn't move. His body was stretched out on what appeared to be an operating table, his clothes completely stripped from his body.

The restrains were cold and strong which made his efforts to escape pointless before another matter raised in his head. 'Where am I? What time is it' He mused before the sounds of footsteps could be heard approaching him.

He heard the faint sound of a click and the glare of lights came to a stop allowing him to see where he was. He was baffled by the scene he was presented with. Instead of a beaten and downtrodden manor that he was in, he was in a chic and elegant room.

The room was sterile white as various tools were hung all over the wall. It had the aesthetic of a modern hospital however given that there were no windows and the dead atmosphere, it was clear that they were somewhere isolated from the outside world.

The figure he had seen before was seating opposite from him as he glanced at his body. "Andrew, I didn't think that I would find you this soon." The figure claimed however the subject of attention wasn't paying attention.

"Where am I? Who are you?!" He asked as fear could be heard from his voice. "Just call me the doctor and I have something interesting to offer you."

Given that he was forced to in one direction due to his restraints, he was facing his captive on a upright metallic bed before realizing that the air present was fine for him. Usually he required an inhaler after such an attack at best and if not, he would be on his way to the hospital.

Given that he already lacked any form of faith and trust with the individual given what he had done to Kyle and Kevin, Andrew chose to keep his distance. "Just let me go."

The figure rose from his chair and stood right beside Andrew, his bloody finger running across his face painting it with a small streak before retracting his hand.

*Bam*

With a forceful heave, the operating bed that he was on was forced to remain horizontal making him unable to see what was going on in the room except the bland and white grey ceiling.

The clattering of tools could be heard not far from him before the shuffling of a trolley was heard coming to a stop to where he was. His chest was heavily heaving, wondering what would become of him.

The muffled sound of the doctor reigned once more. "I'll give you your answer and freedom but at a cost, do you accept?" The doctor posed as he suspended a scalpel above his forehead. "I don't know who you are but just let me go."

"Freedom it is. I'm sorry I couldn't get my hands on anesthetics" The muffled voice rang once more before a sharp pain rang through his head. Given that it wasn't a proper operation, Andrew was forced to experience the whole thing directly and consciously.

A sharp scream of pain and anguish escaped his lips, crying out for help however the masked individual went on unbothered. Tearing through his flesh with ease, he went on till he did a full circumference on his head starting right below his temple by an inch.

Peeling his skin like a glove, Andrew's skull was exposed and with it a ton of blood was followed to which he placed a bowl beneath his neck. The exposed veins and nerves could be seen which made the scene rather nauseating and grotesque.

Andrew who was tired of screaming for help had fallen silent as his throat had grown sore.

His eagerness to escape had now devolved into a helpless silence as he sat, wallowing in tears and blood till his brain couldn't handle it anymore and passed away from the experience.

"You fell unconscious? Oh well." The doctor mused as he traded his scalpel for something else. Placing the skin and hair to the side as he readied himself to crack open his skull.

After that a power drill hummed as it was dangerously brought to his frontal lobe before it was moved to form a small hole. He brought a small plunger and pulled out the bone bit out and placing it to the side along with the drill.

He swerved his chair towards one of the benches on the side as he clutched onto a strange vial before opening it. It seemed alien if not otherworldly which transfused itself as it used the opening presented to it and delved deep into his skull .

"Consider yourself blessed and cursed with the gift that you now have." A faint chuckle escaped the doctor's mask before cracking his knuckles as he walked out of the room leaving Andrew completely unconscious.
