Chapter 39 - HHES: Chapter 39

Gon's brow furrowed. "I challenge you."

"Such a pity. I'm not interested in you now," Hisoka replied.

"Hisoka, I…" Gon, excited, tried to approach.

Hisoka turned to leave. "When you're ready, I'll find you, Gon."

"Wait, I…" Killua stopped Gon. "Forget it, Gon. The gap is too large. You feel his ominous aura and terrifying Nen."

"I know, but Killua…"

"Gon, don't worry. You'll fight Hisoka someday, but not now."

Killua's words calmed Gon.

"That's right! Let's rest tonight!" Killua said, heading towards their room. He turned back to Gon. "What's wrong?"

"I'm registering for a match!" Gon said.

They'd learned Nen, but knew they were weaker than other Nen users on floor 200. Winning was unlikely; losing was almost certain.

"Why? Why now?" Killua asked.

"How else do we know the gap? My goal is Hisoka, and Killua, you want to fight Loki!" Gon said, raising his fist. "They're Nen masters. The gap is huge. I want to know how far behind I am."

Killua fell silent. After a while, he said, "Fine! I'll compete too!"

They registered. Due to floor 200's rules, they couldn't register simultaneously; otherwise, they'd fight each other. Gon registered first.

The next morning, Loki won on floor 190 and went to floor 200 to register. As he exited the elevator, Hisoka approached.

They stopped at the elevator entrance. Hisoka stared at Loki, his Nen surging. His Nen felt like a dark swamp, cold and bloody.

Loki smiled, his Nen erupting, clashing with Hisoka's. The ground trembled; cracks appeared. Dust fell from the ceiling. Loki's Nen felt like flames, raising the temperature. The corridor became like a sauna.

'This isn't ordinary Nen. This kid is stronger than Gon and Killua,' Hisoka thought, watching Loki. 'Our last encounter was the Hunter Exam! He's this strong now? Great!'

"I met you sooner than expected. I thought I'd have to wait," Hisoka said, retracting his Nen. It was useless against Loki.

"Hisoka, eager to see me?"

"Of course! You're the kid I'm most interested in. You're a professional Hunter, right?"

"You know?"

"The Hunter website had big news! Netero made someone a Hunter without passing the exam." Hisoka said, arms crossed. "The report didn't say who, but I guessed it was you."

Loki nodded. "It was me."

"Amazing! No one has ever gotten an exception from Netero."

"So?"

"Loki's a floor 200 contestant. Interested in a fight?" Hisoka licked his lips. The apple was ripe. It was harder than expected, but more interesting.

Loki knew Hisoka was a battle fanatic, seeking fun, not killing. He rarely fought ordinary people; it wasn't fun.

Loki smiled. "Okay. I'll contact you."

"OK! Here's my number. I look forward to your message."

Hisoka entered the elevator, leaving a card with his number. Loki memorized the number, then burned the card with a flame.

'Fighting Hisoka will be interesting, but I need to prepare.' Loki wasn't afraid of Hisoka's strength, but Hisoka used traps and tricks. He was cunning, unpredictable, and deceptive—typical of a Transmutation type.

Hisoka's combat experience was vast. Loki decided to fight other Nen users first.

After registering on floor 200, Loki got a free room.

In his room, Loki had a glass of water with a leaf.

"I've explained Nen. You awakened Nen yesterday. Let's test your Nen types."

Gon and Killua frowned. Were there secrets beyond the four principles?

Loki explained. "Nen has six types: Enhancement, Transmutation, Conjuration, Specialization, Manipulation, and Emission."

Each type had different characteristics. Fighting styles varied. Enhancement types usually strengthen themselves. Transmutation types change Nen's properties. Conjuration types usually support, but there are exceptions. Conjuration types can easily become Specialization types. Specialization types have unique abilities. Manipulation types usually fight from mid-to-long range. Emission types are better at long-range combat.

Loki had Gon and Killua perform the Water Divination to test their types.

Gon's water spilled. "Gon is Enhancement type."

Killua's water didn't change; he worried he lacked talent. But after tasting the water, Loki said, "You're Transmutation type."

Loki planned their training. They'd just awakened Nen; they needed to strengthen their Nen. Daily Ten, Ren, and Zetsu training.

Before starting, Gon looked at the glass. "What type are you, Loki?"

Killua was also interested.

Loki smiled. "Guess."

"Emission?" Gon guessed.

"No, Enhancement," Killua said.

"I'm Specialization type."

They looked at each other.

"How does Specialization compare to Enhancement?"

"And Transmutation?"

They wanted to know if their types could match Specialization.

"Nen strength isn't directly related to the type. Water Divination helps Nen users understand their training direction, not determine strength."

They were relieved. They began training.
