Haruki pinched her cheek. The soft and fleshy feeling made him smile. "Besides, ninja cats are quite smart. They're good at pleasing humans as long as there's money to be made."
He remembered some cats in cat cafés in his past life that were too aloof to be petted.

It wasn't that she believed him.
She just let him off because he really seemed to be in pain.
