Things went south ridiculously fast.
First, we got a mission, we completed the mission. Then, we got two demons out of an inky black portal, and now I'm fighting for my life to get three people to escape.
What the hell is wrong with me?
I'm sacrificing my chance at returning home and for what? For a false sense of duty? No, I refuse to believe so…
I'll deal with that later… Now, I need to first defeat these two.
"Oh well, y'er looking mighty pissed there, my friend."
"Shut it Balarmus! You can do whatever you want with the others, but I want to kill that gunslinger bastard!" That's a slight annoyance. From the looks of it, the cockroach would be easier to fight for me, but I'm pretty sure he'll just blitz through everyone here.
Sighing, I glanced at them and spun my weapons, doing the same movement they taught me. My two pistols changed, their blade showing.
This form allows me to slash through close enemies, but each gun loses a lot of firepower. While I can still accelerate them, it's not going to matter if I can't pierce that big wanker skin.
Without giving me more time to think, he ran towards me. And while I dodged the initial tackle with ease, I cringed when I saw his head pulverizing a wall.
He's slow, but packs quite the punch.
Jumping towards him, I accelerated a hail of bullets while running towards him. While they didn't do anything, I used that chance to slash at the places they have impacted.
Dodging a backhanded punch, I tried to slash at his eyes, but he used his horns to deflect. Cursing, I used the force exerted to propel me high up in the air.
While there, I quickly changed the rounds at the same time that I spun them, reverting their changes and, with a grunt of pain, forced the acceleration to try to pierce him. While bullets were raining, none of them appeared to do anything.
Clicking my tongue with annoyance and making the same gesture, the gun once more changed, and then I used the blades and my own ESP to try to block his punch.
It still sent me flying and bouncing on the ground.
Shit… Even with me slowing his attack, he still hits like a freight train.
"C'mon, little human. Get up! Get up so I can punch you some more!"
"Shut it… I'm trying here…" Still, my vision is swimming, and my legs have lost a lot of strength… Forcing me upright wasn't easy, but I managed it. Eyeing him warily, I saw his smirk, his anger at me, and then his horns.
There's always a weakness. No matter who you're fighting against, there are always drawbacks you can exploit.
That's the knowledge that saved my life… And I'm sure it'll help here.
Now, let me see. His hide is almost like an armor, but, for someone that resilient, he's still quite flexible. Narrowing my eyes, I chose to test this little theory of mine.
He tried to tackle me again, but I dodged in the last second, giving me position to bait the same punch he tried. I could see the gears turning in his head, but he ignored it and tried to strike me once more. By dodging it, I took my left-handed gun and accelerated the bullet to its utmost limit.
"Gahhh!" He screamed, his right forearm falling to the ground as blood poured from the mangled part. While he has strong armor, it means little if he can't protect his joints.
I didn't allow my pride to show and instead turned my body almost instinctively, dodging a strike from the bug. He almost decapitated me…
The gun thunder sounded once more, forcing him to get away from me.
"Balarmus, what did I ask of you?"
"My bad, old friend, but ya saw what this clone managed to do… If we allow 'im to grow, he'll become a threat that could derail the quest."
While they were bickering, I took a look at how the others were faring and soon felt my gut sink.
It was a grim sight.
A lot of them were in pieces, and the two that weren't had missing chunks of flesh, almost as if that bug bit them to death. Blood was, naturally, pouring freely on that place, making me sick as I turned to them.
It seems that Bug face is faster than I gave him credit for.
Accelerating myself, I ran, changing the rounds once more and dodging the strikes from Bug face. Then, I changed my guns once more, and both of us started to trade blows, my blades forcing him to use his claws.
While doing so, I needed to also keep my attention on that wanker. He at least seemed content on tending to his wound, which gave me more confidence on dealing with the bastard in front of me.
Doing so, I did a feint, baiting a counter. After he saw me overextending, he went for the kill, but, with a quick change in gravity, he missed, his strike going upwards while my body downwards.
In less than a second, I reverted the gravity and forced my torso to shift, but…
At the same time, I saw my reflection in his eyes, as well as his wings taking off, allowing him to disengage, but not without me drawing a bit of blood from his side.
Rolling on the ground, I jumped away, dodging a strike from the wanker while also shifting my guns, allowing for a greater range.
I then accelerated a rain of bullets, forcing Bug face to dodge, but some shots hit him, forcing the wanker to use his own body as cover.
They work well together.
Then, I accelerated my body, feeling my headache increase as I tried to keep up with both of them. My shots getting more precise as I changed back my focus to the wanker.
While Bug face was fast, he wasn't strong, so by shifting gravity around him, I could take free shots at his friend.
But he was smarter than I thought, especially considering the way he kept blocking me from hitting his joints.
Damn, if this keeps up, I'll have no other option than to fight him on close quarters, but…
Glancing at Bug face, I could see him trying to move, gaining more agility as time went on.
Great… his body is acclimating to the gravity change. If I engage on the wanker now, I'll be unable to defend myself against Bug face.
It's been a while since I have ever been cornered like that.
Running in the other direction, I brought the wanker's attention by shooting on the same spot multiple times, changing rounds while doing so.
Seeing what I've been doing, he swore and ran towards me. Good…
Jumping, I used his tackle as a step, and focused back on Bug face, but…
The headache burst once more, making me lose the ability to use my ESP momentarily, blood pouring off my ears and nose.
Shit, not now!
Free from his binding, Bug face went full speed against me, forcing me to defend against his strike with my guns. While doing so, I used the shift in momentum to get by his side, allowing a strike from him to draw some blood and shifted my gun to blade form while also falling on my feet.
My breathing was fast, coming in pained gasps. The gash at my side was bleeding, which wasn't helping.
While that, the two were looking at me, their expressions showing nothing but satisfaction.
Bloody wankers.
