Chapter 16 - It is becoming quite interesting.

We all arrived at the academy, the most prestigious institution in the capital. It was bustling with activity.

As we exited the carriage, a servant greeted us and led us to the headmaster's office. The place was huge and exuded luxury. Soon enough, we reached the headmaster's room.

Tamphasana handed a letter to the headmaster that had been given to her by her father. The headmaster looked old and wore glasses. He opened the letter and read it, then looked at us with a mysterious expression.

He called one of his servants and whispered something to him. Turning to us, he said, "Feel free to use our library; it contains all the information you need. Nobody will be there right now as it is exclusive to certain individuals."

He continued, "He'll guide you there," pointing to the servant. The servant bowed to us and began walking toward the door.

"Please follow me," he said, guiding us to a large room filled with books.

He said, " You will find all the books you need here. And if you want to sightsee the place, please feel free to do so."

Before he left, he glanced at us with a mysterious glance.

After he left, everyone started doing what they desired. Some people decided to rest, some were chatting.

Everyone seems so carefree except Tamphasana. She was picking out books to read.

Ningthibi called, " Laija, come here."

They have found a spot to sit and talk. I went to them.

" I think I'll check out some books I guessed."

" Same as always," Maipakpi remarked.

I excused myself and searched for a book that interests me or gives me valuable information.

The room was huge and never-ending. I found a quiet spot where nobody had gone. It was peaceful there and feel relaxed.

I have been looking at the book's titles since I came here, but nothing interests me.

I was wondering where to start when I heard a faint footstep. When I look behind, it was Ryker.

He said, " What were you looking at? Find something interesting."

" Not yet, I didn't expect to be here," I answered.

" I saw you coming this way, so I followed."

We both start looking at the books, trying to find valuable information. Nothing was interesting. These books were all about their glory.

The story looks so perfect, like a carefully crafted story. There was no flaw in it. It was the only good thing about them, nothing more.

"It seems weird," I said, raising an eyebrow.

"What are you talking about?" Ryker asked, glancing up from his book.

"All these stories are too perfect," I replied, flipping through the pages. "There's not a single mistake, and history's never that clean-cut."

"Maybe this place is just special," he shrugged.

"Not a chance," I shot back, flipping through the pages. "You can't really trust a book to tell the whole story. It can be changed by whoever the ruler was at that time."

" You seem to like this," he said, looking at me.

I didn't even realize I was smiling, but I totally was. I was really enjoying myself because I've always wanted to be part of something like this, especially when it comes to history. It surely excited me.

" I'm really liking it," I said.

After much fun conversation, we got back to our work. It was hard to finish our conversation.

I didn't find anything special. Then Ryker came up to me and said, " Look here in this book, some information about the legendary is mentioned."

I started reading the book.

After the world was created, a few leftover pieces were scattered about. An evil force popped up and tried to tear it all down. In response, the god made warriors from these fragments to battle the darkness. But this evil wasn't going down easily; no matter what they tried, it just wouldn't die. So, the warriors came up with a plan: they decided to combine all their power into a sword—the legendary sword.

They succeeded, but only one warrior remained to wield it. Even with the sword's power, they couldn't fully destroy the evil. Before it could be defeated, some of its fragments escaped and spread across the world, transforming into demons. In a twist of fate, the god decided to create humans to take on these demons.

This gave the evil spirit a chance; it would seek out a host and possess the person, turning them into a demon lord. Whenever a demon lord was killed, the evil's essence would leave and look for a new master. The only way to truly end this evil was for it to collide with its scattered fragments and the legendary sword. The tricky part was that the fragments were lodged in the demon lord's heart, so the legendary sword had to strike that heart to completely eliminate the evil force. However, there was a catch: since the legendary sword held the spirit of the evil force, no one could hold it without being affected.

" It doesn't contain where the sword might be," I said.

" Yeah, what a shame," Ryker said.

I continued looking at the book shelves, and a particular book caught my interest. It looks like it has not been touched for quite a long time. I was flipping through the pages when I found something interesting. I called Ryker. He left the book he was holding and came to me. His gaze fall on the book I was holding.

The book says that demon lords are chosen through their emotions and will. People who are desperate, driven by greed, anger, whichever favoured the fragments.

The sword is also quite a complex thing; it can't be held by any person. It contains the warrior and the evil force, which makes it even harder to control.

Many heroes have failed trying to control it, disappearing without a single clue. It may only be held by someone who has been chosen by the warrior and the evil force, too.

" How can it be possible?" He said.

" Who knows?" I said.

" Still no clue though where to find it." He said.

" You know the god created the warrior to finish the evil force. Why didn't he do it himself?" I asked.

He responded, "It's written here, look, God created the evil force to keep the world in balance, but it got out of control. So he again created the warriors to restore the balance. You didn't read it carefully, did you?"

" And look at here we are tangled in a story where we have no relation," I said.

" That's true, but what can we do?"

Someone suddenly appeared.
