Chapter 9 - The End of the Battle!

When she saw Faith fall in battle, her eyes widened with shock—but she didn't allow herself to freeze. If she hesitated, she'd be next. Without a second thought, she moved. The first person she saw was Fearlessness.

The demon hadn't noticed her movement. That gave her just enough time to awaken Fearlessness once more. His eyes snapped open, and he instantly looked around with a serious, focused expression. He didn't hesitate at all. He leapt into action.

Fearlessness threw off his black cape, and with it came the fears he controlled—dark, shapeless entities that surged toward the demon.

The demon narrowed his eyes. "So, it's one versus seven now? That's not very fair of you."

He began dodging Fearlessness's attacks with ease, throwing shadow spheres in response. But his many tentacles intercepted every move Fearlessness made. One by one, the fears were crushed and scattered. Still, Fearlessness didn't flinch or react. He simply kept moving.

And then he gave it everything he had. With incredible speed, he dashed straight toward the demon, narrowly avoiding his attacks. In his hand was a dagger made from condensed dark energy. He leapt high, ready to strike from above.

The demon, however, responded the same way he had with Faith. A massive beam of fire burst from his mouth. Fearlessness barely dodged it, the searing heat grazing his side. He landed, slightly injured but still standing.

The demon grinned. "So we're back to one on one again, huh? Perfect. I'll eat you all up, slowly."

But then, something unexpected happened. Fearlessness yawned. "I wouldn't be so sure about that," he mumbled, casually laying down on the ground. Within seconds, he fell asleep.

The demon blinked, confused. "What...?"

Then a kick struck him straight in the face—hard. Justice had arrived. He had been awakened by Wisdom. And not just him. Behind the demon, the others were also waking up one by one. Even I was there—badly injured from the earlier blast, but still conscious.

Wisdom smiled at the demon. "It's not one-on-one anymore, is it?"

She raised her staff and struck the ground. A soft ripple spread out, and the demon's movements slowed—time itself bent to her will. His eyes widened. He could feel it; everything around him was moving faster while he was caught in delay.

We all attacked.

Wisdom activated her time magic again, this time accelerating our movements. We became blurs of motion, striking fast and hard. For a moment, the demon was overwhelmed.

Even Kindness joined in the assault. It didn't matter how much pain we were in, or how low our energy had gotten. We all gave it everything.

And through all of it, Fearlessness kept sleeping, completely ignoring the battle around him.

My punches weren't strong. The damage I'd taken had drained me. But I kept going. I couldn't stop. None of us could.

The fight carried on like that for a while. Blow after blow, spell after spell. We forced the demon to go on the defensive. Until, suddenly, Justice leapt high into the air.

As he ascended, his body began to glow. A white aura surrounded him—his energy form. The light pulsed with power. Then, with his speed enhanced far beyond normal, he dived straight down like a falling star.

Within a single second, he slashed down and severed one of the demon's arms.

Justice landed hard, staggering from exhaustion. His breathing was rough—he had overused his energy.

"Damn, Justice," I said, catching my breath. "I didn't know you had that in you."

He looked over his shoulder and smiled faintly.

But our moment of peace didn't last.

A horrible scream erupted from the demon—pure rage and hatred spilling from his lungs. The scream was so loud, so piercing, that Fearlessness suddenly opened his eyes.

He blinked once, taking in the scene.

Then, without hesitation, he stood up.

In a blink, the time-slowing effect Wisdom had cast was shattered by his presence. Shadows gathered at his feet as he raised his hand and summoned all his remaining energy.

And in one burst, he released it all.

A massive explosion erupted from the demon's location—a black and red blast that swallowed the battlefield. The ground cracked and trembled, the sky above lit with streaks of fire.

We saw Fearlessness make a desperate attempt to reach us, shadows forming beneath his feet. He tried to pull us into his shadow realm—to save us from what was coming.

But he was too late.

The explosion hit.

A powerful shockwave blasted across the entire area. We were all thrown back—far, far away. Bodies collided with debris, dust clouded our vision, and our ears rang with the thunder of the blast.

Time seemed to stop for a moment.

We lay scattered, broken, defeated.

And as silence fell…

We knew it.

This was the end of the battle!

The explosion had finally faded, but its aftermath remained, a silent testament to the cost of our battle.

We lay there—scattered, broken, and barely alive.

I couldn't feel my legs. Both were gone.

Wisdom had lost her right arm, crimson soaked through the remnants of her robe.

Justice... his head lay a few meters away, eyes open, lifeless.

Kindness—she was reduced to nothing more than ashes, scattered on the winds.

Fearlessness had lost both legs and an arm. His breathing was shallow, but he was still alive. Barely.

We watched through blurred vision as the demon—our enemy, our tormentor—limped away.

He was defeated, drained of all his power... yet still walking.

None of us could move, could chase, could scream. We were nothing more than broken bodies sprawled across a battlefield drenched in despair.

And yet, we were not dead.

Just breathing.

Just suffering.

Time passed slowly, agonizingly. Hours felt like eternities.

We experienced what only the damned truly understand—the pain of Hell. The kind that does not kill. The kind that festers.

In that abyss of silence and torment, something inside us changed.

A sliver of respect was born—for the souls that perished here, forgotten.

And within that respect, a flicker of resolve. We had to free the ones still trapped.

But... not all could be saved.

Some had listened to the Devil's voice.

Some bore his curse—a brand that chained them to the pit for eternity.

And no matter how hard it hurt to accept... we knew the truth.

They were beyond our reach.

Eventually, consciousness returned to me.

I awoke not on the battlefield, but in a bed. My room. My sanctuary.

Yet I couldn't move. My body refused to listen.

I wasn't afraid. No... it was something far deeper.

I felt like I was trapped on a rollercoaster of emotions, spiraling endlessly without a destination.

So much had happened.

So much was lost.

It was the weekend—something I normally looked forward to with childish excitement.

But now... it was just me. My bed.

Six hours passed. I didn't move. I just stared.

The ownly quastion i had in my head was: Who am i? Because of the rollercoaster, i forgot my biggest quality my willpower. I just forgot it, where was it? Was it gone!
