Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 Mark You as Mine

"It seems like you would be needing another plate, I never knew you were such a gluttonous pet."

I snapped my head to look at him with my mouth still stuffed with food. I looked down at my plate and realized everything had disappeared. 'What happened to being demure?' I just realized I'd been eating like a wild animal all this while, but what happened to the elegant and classy me? I burped slightly.

You know, it is not because I couldn't control my habit; it must be the attitude of the real owner of the body I'm possessing. Anyway, the food tasted heavenly. I licked my finger; the spices had really penetrated through the meat.

I halted midway with my finger in my mouth as I met Damon's gaze, who was now resting his head on his elbow, staring at me as if I was the most interesting thing in the room.

I continued licking my finger, making a popping sound as I stared innocently at him. My heart skipped a beat when I suddenly heard a growl vibrating from his chest. His gaze darkened slightly at me before he sat up straight.

"Don't bite more than you can chew," he growled, handing another set of plates to me. Deep down, I knew those words held more meaning than it seemed, but staring at the food in his hand, my mouth watered more. I nodded my head as I collected the food from him.

I never knew eating freely like this was more satisfying than eating like an elegant lady. The way the meat watered in my mouth with heavenly flavour made me feel like I was flying in the clouds. Was this the power of starvation? Or was it just the food tasting this good? I couldn't tell.

My hand rubbed against my belly as I felt full and satisfied. A burp came out as a testament to it. My eyes drooped as I felt sleepy. Well, I think I might have eaten a little too much. My appetite in the real world wasn't this great.

"It seems like you are full. Now let's move to the next activity on our list," Damon's voice echoed in my ears, dripping with malicious intent.

The hair on my body immediately stood on end. "And what might that be… master?" I asked innocently, but deep down, I knew something was brewing in his mind.

He elegantly rose up from his seat before walking to the corner of the hall where coal was burning. He took out the burning red-hot metal, his lips tugged up into a devilish smirk, his eyes gleaming with amusement.

"I need to mark you as mine." His words hit all the warning bells in my head. I scrambled to my feet as my heart hammered in my chest, my fingers trembling. 'I knew nothing good can ever come from his evil mind.' My lips curved into a silent smile.

"Master… you don't need to brand me. You only do that with slaves and animals, but I'm your pet… you can't brand your own pet. Everyone knows that I belong to you." I stuttered as I moved backward, trying to create as much space as possible between us, even though I knew that was just delaying the inevitable.

He pursed his lips into a thin line before tilting his head. "But I'm the master, and I decide what to do with my pet." He strode closer to me.

Tears rolled down my cheeks. 'So I will have a reminder on me to always remind me that I was a degraded being.' Seeing how he was closing the space between us, I turned around to escape from the hall.

But before I could take another step, I felt something holding my shirt, stopping me from running. A spasm of worry crossed my face as he slowly turned me around to face him. The next second, I felt the coldness of the wall radiating through my back, its hardness a strange source of dismay.

"So where should I mark you?" he drawled as he inched close to my ear, his warm breath sending waves of terror and butterflies down my stomach. 'Crazy bitch, you are almost getting branded like a cow, and you are letting his words have an effect on you,' my mind buzzed as I tried to get my head on track and focus on the danger in front of me.

"Your face, thigh, hand, or your chest?" he asked nonchalantly as he stared at me from under his lashes.

I glared at him with so much anger and hatred. "Whatever suits you, master," I said with quivering lips.

"Do you want me to fix how you should gaze at your master?" he said with an annoyed click of his tongue.

I quickly averted my eyes before shutting them tight. My head rested on the wall as more tears rolled down my cheeks. 'Are you just going to let him have his way? You should fight back. When have you ever been the type to stay subjected to others?' my mind screamed at me.

'Don't try anything stupid. Let him have his way. He owns us and can treat us however he deems fit.' The voice that had spoken to me when I was in the forest echoed through my mind again.

'What do you mean by US, who are you? And why should I back down?' I shot back angrily but got no reply.

Before I could continue my chat with the voice, I felt the burning heat of the iron hovering above my face. My heart skittered in my chest, pounding crazily in my ears as I awaited my fate. But then the heat moved away, and I felt it on my wrist.

I squeezed my eyes shut. My body stiffened as I awaited the burning pain… then I felt his hand around mine. 'This is it,' I thought inwardly.

Seconds went by, but it felt like breathless hours. Suddenly a cry escaped my lips as I felt a cold metal sliding down my hand to my wrist. When my brain registered that it was cold and not hot, my eyes snapped open. I looked down at my wrist, only to find a black bracelet around it.
