Crescent parted her lips to speak when he put his rough hand over her lips. Through his playful eyes, he pointed at the door.
Although she couldn't turn, she could hear the faint shuffle at the back. The sound of steps became quite apparent. Crescent felt the steps coming closer and closer.
Wordlessly, she struggled in his arms, warning him to leave her through her eyes.
Definitely she didn't wish to get caught at this point!
However, he mischievously pulled her to him. Firstly, he held her without her consent. And secondly, he was not even letting her go!
The old lady had realised that she was not having keys with her when she had covered more than half the distance to staff quarters.
She had forgotten her keys, the realization set in. This had never happened ever before. Murmuring to herself, she had walked back. As she entered the corridor to take away the key, she found the door unlocked.
But she did remember locking it. Suspicion suddenly grew in her. She pushed the door open.
She looked around, however nothing felt misplaced. Just to satisfy her heart, she walked a few steps inside. Everything was as it was before.
Moreover, no one had come to this area in the past many years in midnight.
Perhaps she was simply thinking too much. How could someone even come here? They wouldn't be able to pass the threshold. Her calmed a lot.
Just as that old lady was about to turn, she stopped midway and walked further into the library. She scanned the surroundings and suddenly enetered the next row. Standing there for a second, she had a good look.
Probably... she had really forgotten to lock the door.
Just as Crescent felt that the old lady was about to catch her, she felt being tugged to the next row. There she stood with her back attached to the rack and him hovering over her.
The old lady stepped where they stood before. If she were to take another step, she would find them!
Crescent didn't even dare to breath. Damn! Was it over for her?
However, to her surprise as well as relief, that old didn't come any forward and went back from there. Just as she heard the door shutting, she pushed the man in front of her harshly.
"What do you exactly think you were doing?" She whispered, controlling her rage.
Never, never had anyone touched her as if they had liberty to do it.
"Being the knight in the shining armour? Or...saving the damsel in distress? Pick what you like." The man replied, "I like the second one better. Makes me feel like a superior person."
Crescent closed her eyes. Within twenty-four hours, she met this person again. Her eyes quickly opened and she spared him an up and down glance.
"Why are you even here? I mean-how?"
The man turned on his toes, whistled a tune she didn't know and randomly gazed around the novels. "Always so late in asking the correct question." He casually commented and opened a random book.
"How did you get in the university?" Crescent ran several possibilities in her mind. Could he be a student? Obviously he didn't look more than twenty-four or twenty-five. That was the possibility but something told her that he wasn't that.
The man chuckled, his low chuckle becoming the only sound in the room. Suddenly, he had again pinned her back to the rack and his eyes pierced into hers.
He looked with so much intensity that she had to avert her eyes. However, he grabbed her jaw with his one hand and angled it to make it difficult for her to look anywhere other than his eyes.
"Leave me!" She struggled but it seemed he was too strong to even let her move a finger.
"The question should be- what you are doing here? In the middle of the night? Sneaking in?" His smirk had disappeared but there was something similar to a sinister kind of amusement in his eyes.
Her heart dropped being hit with the question so direct. Although she had already prepared her answer, she was finding it hard to mumble the words.
She could only look into his eyes, struggling to still get free. "How does it concern you? Even you are here, sneaked in secretly!"
She made her point. The man heard her answer and raised a brow, slowly nodding. "So does it mean that you are here to steal something?"
Crescent closed her eyes in anger. "Aren't you here for the same?" She can still say that she was the student of this university. But was he even?
"Great! I always wanted to know how do thief's look like. I can finally see one today." His voice had turned pleasant.
"Why? Did you never look into the mirror?" She retorted. "I suggest you to do that. You would have even more of a pleasant experience!" Crescent forced a smile.
For a moment, there was only silence as they stood in the same proximity, drowned in their own thoughts.
The man went silent not because he was countered bad, but because he had grown interested. His eyes gazed deeply into hers while his lips arched up. "You are one hell of an interesting lady." He murmured, letting her hear that.
Crescent blinked her eyes in frustration. "Do you wish to hold me like this the entire night?"
"Oh, I wouldn't mind that." His grin widened.
"I would! Leave. Me. At. This. Very. Instant!" Crescent clenched her fists.
No one ever got on her nerves the way this man did. That too twice within the twenty-four hours.
"Why? Getting affected by my closeness?" He murmered seductively, riling her up more. Crescent could tell that he was having all the fun in the world. His eyes gave away that.
Taking a deep breath in to calm herself, Crescent replied, "Yes, never had met such a malodorous person before."
The man raised a brow and finally let her go. Surrendering his hands up, he said. "Alright, you win." The smirk coming back on his lips.
