Chapter 32 - WELCOME HOME

Nick and his team of lawyer friends had been successfully exposing the corruption of various lower-tier members of the organization. Over the following months, several trials ended in convictions. However, the ones paying the price were only those at the very bottom of the pyramid.

The leaders remained unreachable, shielded by an impenetrable fortress of power and secrecy. Sara couldn't get close either—not yet. Still, their persistent probing became a constant thorn in the side of the organization.

In retaliation, the organization began manipulating the law to their advantage once again. They targeted one of Nick's lawyer friends, revoking his license permanently under the pretense that he had broken legal protocol by investigating the organization's affiliates.

A simple technicality rendered an exceptional, incorruptible lawyer unemployed—and his wife, a prominent businesswoman, lost her professional standing as well. Nick refused to let them fall. He hired them into the company he had inherited from his family, naming them president and vice president, honoring their friendship and talents.

That left only Gay and Nick still working on the case—but now with greater caution. Nick had studied law for one purpose: to bring down the vile organization. He would not stop.

That afternoon, Nick and Sara sat together in his mansion office. Sara, seven months pregnant, had a noticeably round belly now. Her advanced pregnancy meant she could no longer engage in her covert missions to eliminate organization members. The thought of being unable to act tormented her.

Nick held her from behind, hands cradling her belly as the baby stirred.

"He's crying," Sara whispered, voice trembling. "He feels how helpless I feel."

She began to cry, the dark frustration welling up within her. Nick kissed her raven hair, holding her with deep tenderness.

"Don't cry, love. Think of the baby. He can't suffer like this—not you, either."

Nick caressed her belly gently, whispering words of love to the child within. Sara slowly calmed, her breath softening.

"He stopped crying," she said with a teary smile. "Now he's laughing. You work miracles on both of us. But I still feel so useless... How can I protect you all if I'm like this?"

"You're carrying life inside you, Sara. That's not weakness—it's sacred. You've never been useless. Anthony, Ana, and I—we're proud of you."

Just then, the twins ran into the room, their joy contagious. They each kissed Sara's belly to greet their baby brother. The four of them spent the afternoon together, brightening Sara's spirits.

Karin, ever-vigilant, assured Sara there was nothing to fear. As both doctor and friend, she constantly monitored her and the baby's health.

Months passed swiftly in the Archer household. When the baby arrived, he bore a striking resemblance to Sara.

Sara delivered at the city's most prestigious clinic via cesarean section, performed by Karin. The organization had once plotted to render her sterile in revenge—but they had failed.

Throughout her hospital stay, Karin and Lucy watched over mother and child day and night. Their vigilance paid off—they uncovered three infiltrators: one doctor and two nurses.

They informed Nick immediately. Javier was dispatched to handle them, while Karin and Lucy gathered evidence. The three were arrested and charged with attempted murder. Nick himself led the prosecution as an attorney. Though unable to tie the crimes directly to the organization, justice was served.

Sara remained unaware of the danger—her condition required rest and no stress. Nick confronted the clinic's owner, threatening legal action. An agreement was reached behind closed doors.

Only once Sara had fully recovered was she discharged. As she left the clinic cradling her sleeping newborn, flanked by Karin, Lucy, and Nick, she finally learned what had transpired.

"As you see, Sara," Nick told her, "you're my wife, and I'll always protect you—just like you protect me and our children."

"Thank you, my love," she whispered, holding the baby close.

Back at home, the twins welcomed them joyfully. Their eyes sparkled as they gazed at the baby, awestruck.

The family gathered in the nursery and gently placed the newborn in his crib.

"Welcome home, my sweetheart," Nick whispered, kissing the baby's forehead. Then he turned to Sara, kissing her cheek with tenderness. "Welcome home, my dark-haired angel."

Sara smiled, radiant, as the twins danced around them with laughter.

"What's our baby brother's name going to be?" they asked in unison.

"Ismael," Sara replied without hesitation. "After my older brother," she added, looking at Nick.

"A beautiful name, my love."

"Yes! Beautiful!" the twins chorused, giggling with joy.

The Archer family was whole once more, wrapped in love, laughter, and unbreakable unity.
