Chapter 18 - Hatred

Hayato gently laid down Kuroto.

"You did well, Kuroto. Now leave the rest to me," he said.

The two guys were back to themselves because of Kuroto's Fear fading away.

Just when they turned back and stepped toward where Kuroto was, they saw Hayato.

Sweat dripped inside their masks.

They were speechless.

Not able to speak to each other either.

Meanwhile, Hayato just stood, giving them a death stare.

Hayato was furious.

The two guys remembered what their boss had said:

"Run away whenever a full member of the Crimson Order comes. There's a chance you might outrun them.

But do not run away if you see the Infamous Blue Flash of the Crimson Order, Hayato Kisaragi. No matter how fast you are, it's utterly impossible to escape the man. I don't think there's anyone I know who is faster than him.

But don't lose hope immediately. I don't know how he is mentally and if he can be fooled.

And under no circumstances should you take a hostage. He's too fast. The moment you realize he's still moving after you take the hostage, the next instant the person will be saved."

They knew for sure what level of speed Hayato had, and their bodies refused to move from the sheer bloodlust that was directed at them.

It wasn't the invisibility of Hayato's presence anymore—it was his bloodlust that made them feel their death.

Suddenly, their mana started to stir badly.

And then something went through their minds.

A memory that said something in their heads:

"Rule Set: You two will go mad, and your Regulator will be destroyed the second you're against the enemy you can't defeat.

Cost Set: You'll die the moment that happens—unless, obviously, the Rule Set is undone by someone, but that is most likely not happening."

The voice said.

The voice meant what it said, and as that voice crossed their heads, they started breaking down.

They screamed like monsters while Hayato was confused.

They screamed in agony.

They screamed in pain.

They screamed in hatred.

They held their heads, were on their knees, and screamed in all sorts of grudges they had.

The hatred they had was inhuman.

So inhuman they lost absolute control.

And then they pressed their hands against the Earth.

And then a light came from the gaps of their fingers that pressed against the Earth.

Hayato reacted and instantly went in and kicked their stomachs as hard as he could.

They went flying back, passing out in the process.

They hit the building behind them as it cracked.

Hayato stepped toward them to check their condition.

And then suddenly... a roar from the sky.

Everyone, including the Crimson Order members who were heading toward the 'help' smoke, saw it.

It was something terrifying.

A humongous Wyrm Dragon.

The Dragon was as long as a large building.

Its scales spread across its head as the snake-like figure it had got thinner the longer it went. It wasn't just any ordinary Wyrm Dragon. It was completely made out of stony rocks, like an Earth-style Wyrm Dragon.

The only thing that wasn't made of just some rocks were the eyes.

The eyes gave the light of the sun.

The glow of the moon.

And those eyes carried pain—pain of losing someone.

It was terrifyingly stronger than anything ever seen.

The bloodlust was greater than even the infamous Black Cloaked Manipulator had.

If it had any goal…

It wasn't destruction.

It wasn't domination.

It wasn't even trying to live.

All it wanted was one thing.

Revenge.

It sought revenge.

The dragon, afloat above the buildings of Tokyo in the sky, noticed someone.

It saw Kuroto, laid down, passed out.

Without hesitation, the dragon roared its way straight to Kuroto.

Hayato noticed it, but instead of worrying about the unnaturally strong Earth Dragon, he smiled.

"Looks like I can go all out after a long time," he said, excited.

The dragon was fast. It was only meters away from Kuroto while Hayato still stood there, and Riko was frozen in fear and tired out from before.

As it was a meter away from Kuroto, while Riko was a few meters apart from Kuroto, staring—

Hayato suddenly appeared in front of Kuroto.

A sword made purely of lightning flashed in his hands.

It wasn't on the same level as he had shown before.

The sword made of lightning was a different color.

It was purely red-colored lightning—on a completely different level. No, it wasn't on a completely different level.

It was something else.

Almost a different type of magic, which was anything but ordinary strong magic.

As soon as the Dragon reached Hayato, it was immediately being crumbled into pieces.

The dragon was being destroyed upon impact after reaching a seemingly invisible wall.

But no, it wasn't an invisible wall.

It was Hayato's arms moving faster than the eye truly could see, which led it to look like an invisible force attacking upon impact.

The dragon was being cut into small pieces and crumbled to the sides.

It was still going for Kuroto.

It didn't care if it died.

It just wanted to kill Kuroto, even if it was in the dumbest way possible.

It wasn't long until the dragon's pieces were on the ground.

And then a presence vanished from the air.

It wasn't the presence of someone's life.

The presence was simply revenge itself.

Yes, the presence itself was revenge.

And alongside the presence of revenge, hatred also vanished from the air.

As he had finished, his red Lightning Sword vanished.

Hayato let out a sigh after knowing it was over.

When Hayato turned, he saw the full members of the Crimson Order coming. And then behind them were the other cadets arriving.

As soon as everyone arrived at the scene, Hayato was questioned about what happened.

But he brushed it off by saying he'd explain later because he had other things to worry about.

Hayato dashed toward the two guys' bodies.

Right in front of the two bodies Hayato stood, while the other members were checking on Kuroto and the two abducted kids to return them to their parents soon.

Hayato swallowed.

He extended his hands, attempting to check their nerves at once.

Unfortunately... the two were dead.

That did not affect Hayato much, because they were enemies.

As soon as he stood back up and started to go back toward the others, he thought he should see who the guys were by removing their masks.

Hayato leaned down and removed their masks.

His expression froze, stricken with fear.

He was horrified by who he saw.

They were two twins who were seemingly around 14 years old.

It wasn't just their young age that terrified Hayato.

It was something else.

This goes back eight months.

Eight months ago, two 13-year-old prodigy twins disappeared one day. Their names were Renji Tsukihana and Kaoru Tsukihana. They went to sleep in their room, and the next day they were nowhere to be found.

An investigation was conducted by the Crimson Order and other trusted Orders as well.

From the Crimson Order, Hayato and his teammate Saya were the ones assigned to investigate this case.

After weeks, and then a month of searching, they were nowhere to be found.

They were labeled as missing and presumed dead until proven otherwise.

The search ended.

But here those two were.

"Damn it," Hayato said, frustrated, terrified, and angered.

As Hayato just sat on his legs on the ground, Saya called out to him.

He didn't respond, so she approached him.

As soon as she approached, her gaze landed on the two unfortunate kids.

She immediately fell to her knees, her face struck with horror.

Both Hayato and Saya became terrified as bad memories of how the kids' parents reacted ran through their minds.

After a while, Hayato explained everything and the unfortunate things that happened.

They all decided to retreat. Toshiro carried Kuroto back home.

Meanwhile, Hayato covered the two kids' bodies with a cloth, and then he went to the unfortunate kids' parents.

He returned their two sons' bodies to them.

The parents collapsed and broke into tears.

After just an hour of Hayato standing, holding their bodies, and the two kids' parents crying without pause, they eventually pulled themselves back together.

A while later, Hayato and the two parents went to the graveyard and gave those two a burial.

Before the burial, Hayato called all the Crimson Order members, excluding Kuroto, who was still passed out.

They all left flowers at the grave and gave those two a moment of rest in peace.

Everyone had a deeply saddened expression and a face full of regret.

Meanwhile, Hayato's eyes held both regret and hatred toward the ones who did this to the innocent souls.

He wanted to avenge the two kids.

And then, after an entire long night, they fully arrived back at the Crimson Order base.

The only thing that remained was regret for all the Crimson Order members.

Kuroto didn't wake up for a couple of days until he finally did.
