Chapter 53 - Chapter 53: Conquering the Golden Week, Rewards from Adversity

"When did you get here?!"

Renaud's voice rang out from behind.

Nami and Tashigi turned their heads at the same time, surprised to see Golden Week—but only for a moment. They quickly returned to calm.

After all, when Renaud went out, he always brought beautiful women back. A trip where he didn't would be more surprising.

At the center of the battlefield were Brogy and Dorry. The area within several hundred meters had become a death zone.

"Renaud, do you know why they're fighting?!" Nami asked in confusion.

They were both giants—why did they have to fight to the death?

Renaud looked up at the two towering figures in the distance and replied calmly,

"Perhaps… they're doing it for the glory of the Giant race."

In the beginning, Brogy and Dorry had competed over who could catch the bigger prey.

Before they knew it, a hundred years had passed. Their battle continued, never ceasing.

BOOM!

BOOM!

Two heavy strikes landed simultaneously—both shields smashing into each other's faces. The giants collapsed in sync.

"Ka-pa-pa-pa-pa… Another draw!!!"

"..."

Renaud was left speechless.

Over a hundred years ago, Brogy and Dorry had left Elbaf as the leaders of the Giant Warrior Pirates.

Their initial bounties reached 100 million berries—a staggering amount at that time.

Over the decades, their techniques and reactions had become sharper. But no matter how fierce the fight, it always ended in a draw.

Renaud came to this little garden with two goals:

First, to win over Golden Week.

Second, to learn the giants' unique combat skills that could shake the earth!

The shockwave they generated with their attacks once blasted apart a giant Island-Eater beast in one blow when helping the Straw Hats.

How huge was that creature?! That alone proved how terrifying the power of these giants was.

If such a move was used with conquering force, how powerful would it be?!

Renaud couldn't believe it. He had to master this!

He desperately needed a powerful sword technique.

As the battle ended in another tie, Brogy and Dorry stood up and went home to wait for the next volcano eruption.

But Brogy's sharp eyes spotted Renaud in the distance.

"A human?!"

The two giants stared at Renaud and the girls and burst out laughing.

"Gagagaga…"

"Kapapapa…"

"It's been ages since humans came to this island. Do you have wine?"

With no warning, Brogy plopped down before them like a mountain.

Dorry also looked hopeful—he'd nearly forgotten what wine tasted like.

Of course, Renaud brought wine.

"Brogy, Dorry—your mighty names are known far and wide."

"There's wine on the ship. If you want to drink, come and get it." Renaud smiled without hesitation.

Makino had brewed a whole new batch of rum recently—they had plenty in stock.

The girls looked closely at the giants. Despite their monstrous size, they didn't seem hostile—just a bit rough around the edges.

Though they'd been on this island for a hundred years, the times had changed.

What shocked them more was that these giants could tell at a glance who Renaud was.

When Renaud called them by name, Brogy felt deeply touched. No one besides Dorry had called him by name in over a century.

"Of course we know you. Once captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates—Brogy and Dorry—your names were legends. Even if you appeared at sea again now, many would still recognize you."

Dorry was so moved by Renaud's praise that he burst into hearty laughter.

"Gagagaga… You're a good man, human. What's your name?"

"I'm Captain Renaud of the Renaud Pirates. These are all my crewmates."

Renaud introduced the girls one by one.

"Kid, you're lucky."

Brogy's gaze swept over the girls, especially Nami, Tashigi, and Weiwei—they were all stunning.

"The meat of the beasts here is delicious."

Brogy eagerly invited them to feast.

"You've gotta be kidding! I saw it too but didn't speak up!!"

"All right, time to collect next round's payment in advance!!"

"..."

Flushed with embarrassment, the giants stopped bickering and turned to Renaud when they heard "wine," licking their lips.

"Let's head over to your ship."

The girls began giggling. These giants were oddly… adorable.

In front of the Going Merry, Renaud unloaded all the wine onboard.

To show hospitality, Brogy and Dorry went hunting. They returned almost simultaneously, dragging giant beasts behind them.

Each claimed their prey tasted best.

It looked like another fight was brewing—until Renaud quickly defused the tension.

Brogy and Dorry resumed their routine.

The beasts were cleaned, butchered, and grilled in a smooth, practiced process.

After a moment's pause, both nodded.

"Of course."

"When a winner is finally decided, we'll head to Elbaf."

Brogy scratched his head, a little embarrassed.

"It's been a hundred years of draws. I wish we could settle it."

"But next time… I'll be the victor!"

"You shameless guy—did you just fart?!"

The girls: …

"I bear the honor of an Elbaf warrior. I will never lose!" Dorry declared firmly.

With those words, tension filled the air again. Would the giants fight?

At the sound of a certain name, the two giants froze in shock.

Brogy thought hard and said hesitantly,

"They sound like Giant Warrior Pirates too… but it's been so long, I'm not sure."

"They are," Renaud confirmed. "They were crewmates. A hundred years ago, when you never returned, the Giant Warrior Pirates disbanded. Kashi and Oimo set out to find you, traveling the world."

"Unfortunately, they were deceived by the World Government. They're now guarding the gates of Enies Lobby."

The mood instantly changed.

The girls were stunned.

It was true—just a few words from the World Government had tricked Kashi and Oimo.

They'd claimed Brogy and Dorry were imprisoned, and made Kashi and Oimo work for 100 years to secure their release.

"But… we haven't settled the score yet." Dorry looked awkward.

At that moment, Brogy noticed his barbecue had lost its aroma.

True to his bold nature, Brogy shouted without hesitation.

Dorry quickly nodded.

"Kapapapa…"

"Gagagaga…"

"…That's all it took?!!"

Brogy laughed until he cried.

"By the way, who brewed this wine? It's incredible!"

"No worries. Starting tomorrow, I'll teach you how to master a nation-conquering technique."

When a giant gives their word—it's worth its weight in gold.

"Ka-pa-pa-pa… Renaud, you can really drink, huh?"

"Gagagaga… Hic… This is the best wine I've ever had."

The girls watched the bottles empty and unconsciously swallowed.

They drank too much.

Soon, Brogy and Dorry passed out cold from alcohol and collapsed on the ground.

Renaud brought the girls back to the Going Merry.

It had been decades since the two giants last drank. Just one cup from Renaud meant half a bottle each.

Makino had taken months to brew that wine—but now, the stock was nearly gone.

As Renaud drank with the giants, the girls shared stories, laughed, and chatted like family.

Miss Valentine told Golden Week all about what happened after joining the Renaud Pirates.

After all, they were both ex-Baroque Works agents—she had to warn her about some of Renaud's quirks.

Later…

Golden Week couldn't sleep. She paced her room restlessly.

She was nervous. Anxious. Maybe even… a little excited?

From what Valentine had said, this was a common tradition when a new member joined the crew.

"You've received a reward!"

"Congratulations to the host for obtaining the Four Emperors-level talent: Iron Balloon!"

In the battle of Marineford, Whitebeard was brutally struck by Akainu—anyone else would've died dozens of times.

Yet with a shattered body, Whitebeard still killed everyone in his way.

What mattered most? A powerful body!

No one could match it.

At just five years old, Linlin's bounty reached 500 million berries.

Then she got addicted to having babies—and never stopped.

With a mechanical whir, a strange force surged through Renaud's body.

He could feel it transforming him from within—completely painlessly.

With a thunderous boom, a sonic shockwave burst in the air…
