---
A single tear slid slowly down Lin Yue's cheek, catching the soft hospital light as it trembled on her skin.
She didn't hear Mo Yuwei calling her name beside the bed. Her mind had gone numb.
"Lin Yue?"
"Yue?!"
Her heart, though, felt like it was being crushed beneath a thousand weights.
When Mo Yuwei touched her arm lightly, she blinked, surprised, and turned her head slightly to look at Mo Yuwei, who was looking at her with concern.
"Lin Yue? What's wrong?" Mo Yuwei asked, her brows furrowing as her voice lowered.
Lin Yue shook her head slowly, as if trying to deny reality.
She wished she was dreaming.
"Nothing... I'm fine," she whispered.
But her heart was far from fine. It was cracked, trembling, and drowning in disbelief and pain.
Liang Yexuan... Ah Yan...
They were the same person.
Her hand drifted unconsciously to her belly, cradling the tiny life growing within.
What about her? What about their baby? What was she supposed to do now?
Liang Yexuan.
The most powerful man in the country.
And he had a fiancée.
Her chest ached. A silent sob escaped, making her shoulders tremble.
Mo Yuwei had already rung the nurse's bell.
Moments later, a middle-aged doctor entered the room, her expression kind but professional. She checked Lin Yue's vitals and asked a few questions before frowning slightly.
"She experienced shock," the doctor said, turning to Mo Yuwei. "I guess it's emotional shock. Her blood pressure is elevated. May I ask what happened recently that could have caused distress? She's pregnant so she should try to control her emotions. "
Mo Yuwei turned toward Lin Yue, who had curled up slightly on the bed, one hand gently stroking her belly as she stared at the window.
Her eyes were dazed, but her hand never stopped its soothing motions.
"Doctor," Mo Yuwei said, choosing her words carefully, " Will she and the baby be alright?"
The doctor nodded. "As long as she rests and avoids any more shocks, she should recover well. If everything stays stable, she can be discharged this afternoon."
After he left, Mo Yuwei sat on the edge of the bed. "Lin Yue, talk to me. Please. What happened? What did you see? Who did you see?"
Lin Yue slowly shook her head, her voice hoarse. "I just want to go home."
Mo Yuwei hesitated. But she knew better. She'll talk when she was ready.
With a sigh, she got up. "Alright. I'll go handle the discharge. Just rest for now, okay?"
Lin Yue gave a small nod, her eyes still distant.
Once Mo Yuwei was gone, Lin Yue exhaled shakily. She looked down at her hand, still resting over her lower belly.
"What am I supposed to do now...?" she whispered.
---
After the discharge, Mo Yuwei drove Lin Yue back to her estate. The air in the car was silent and heavy, with unspoken questions hanging between them.
Mo Yuwei hesitated for a moment, wanting to say something, but her phone buzzed.
It was her husband.
Mo Yuwei glanced at her one last time as she stepped out of the car. "Take care of yourself, okay? And if you need anything... you know I'm here."
Lin Yue nodded. "Thank you, Yuwei."
As Lin Yue stepped through the gates, her head still heavy, someone called her name.
"Miss Lin."
She turned around, surprised.
Three men in sleek black suits approached her calmly, their faces unreadable but not threatening.
She instinctively stepped back, but one of them raised his hand politely.
"We'd like to speak with you for a moment."
Lin Yue hesitated. They didn't look like bad people, but their expressions were so cold, their presence so overwhelming...
Still...
She nodded. "Alright."
---
They walked together in silence to a nearby café. The quiet hum of the place did little to ease her nerves. Once seated, the men gestured toward the menu.
"Please, order anything you like," the lead man offered.
Lin Yue shook her head. "I'm fine. Who are you? What do you want?"
The lead man exchanged a glance with the others, then placed a sleek black folder on the table.
"We are here on behalf of our Young Master," he began.
Lin Yue's brows furrowed. "Young Master? Who—"
"Liang Yexuan."
Her heart skipped a beat.
"Thank you for saving him," the man continued. "Our Young Master instructed us to convey his gratitude. He is prepared to offer you anything you need. Financial support. Protection. Influence— "
Her ears were ringing.
The rest of his words drowned as tears filled her eyes.
Ah Yan... no, Liang Yexuan...
What did he mean?
What did this mean?
Could someone tell her please?!
