Chapter 3 - Historical Tales

While walking around the Academy, Zixin was met with a joyful female student. She had long black hair, green eyes, and snow-white skin. She wore a black uniform, black skirt, black shoes and black glasses. She handed Zixin a flyer that states, After class, Elmer will be presenting his report regarding the truth behind 'Historical tales.' The report will be in room 1-A.

Zixin thought, his curiosity burning, A report about historical tales, huh? This is probably to get promoted. Based on the topic, it's probably the Literature Bloodline. Well, I'll go since it seems interesting. Hmm… wait a moment, why is it being advertised?

Zixin turned to look at the female student, he asked, appearing confused, "Why is it being advertised? Normally, this kind of report will be private."

The female student was shocked to hear Zixin ask. It was common knowledge that he doesn't talk much so when he does, it tends to be meaningful. She scratched her cheeks, smiling awkwardly, answering, "Senior Elmer wanted to let everyone know when he will succeed so we volunteered to help him."

He wanted everyone to know? This Elmer seems to have some sort of complex. Well, forget it, what matters is if his report is actually good. Zixin thought as he bid the female student farewell.

At his classroom, Zixin takes his seat, hearing his classmates gossiping about the Purity Head's sudden visit.

One of them, a girl with long blue hair who always wore a bright smile, spoke, "Hey, did you know that Kiran the Purity Head apparently wants to promote someone into their Bloodline?"

Another girl, short blond hair asked in curiosity, "Promote someone? Who would even be able to pique the Purity Head's interest? I will admit that there are countless geniuses within the Academy but someone whose value is seen so highly that the Purity Head bothered to go is beyond me."

Zixin thought about the rumors, having nothing else to do, So, the Purity Head wants to promote someone yet no one knows who it could be… what an odd tale, this seems quite ridiculous if you ask me. He probably just wants to attract attention or something, after all, going out of his way just to promote a student seems a bit too suspicious.

Zixin shook his head, reminding himself, What am I even thinking about? Indulging yourself in meaningless rumors can only make you rot. Forget it, it doesn't concern me at all. What matters is entering the Hex Zone.

Zixin soon snapped out of his thoughts as the Professor entered the class. She was a middle-aged woman with short black hair, soft light skin, and piercing blue eyes. She immediately started the math discussion, carefully explaining each formula.

Zixin carefully took down notes, not forgetting to write down anything that seemed important. While doing so, he thought about Jinhua. Why was she there to greet Kiran? Wait, am I an idiot? Of course, she was there to meet Kiran, it was out of politeness, not goodwill, well, she probably doesn't have any for most of the Major Bloodline Heads…

While Zixin was deep in thought, Elena was eagerly answering the Professor's questions with precise accuracy.

Before Zixin could even realize it, the class had already ended. Zixin took a look around, seeing his classmates leave the room and head to the next class.

He sighed, taking a glance at his notes, seeing that he wrote down the important parts like he intended despite being in deep thought.

Well, I guess I can still review it later. What the hell… I never knew I could daydream for this long. It's actually kinda scary. Oh well, forget it. He shook his head, impressed by something that seemed useless.

After all of Zixin's classes for the day were over, Zixin headed to the assigned room where Elmer's report would take place.

The room was a theater hall, it wasn't used much due to it not having an assigned club but it seemed that Elmer was given permission to use it.

When he entered the room, he saw that all the seats were nearly all taken, it seemed that Elmer was quite popular. After taking a look around, he finally found a suitable place.

After taking his seat, Zixin noticed the three judges at the front of the room. They all seemed to wear black suits.

And before he knew it, the report began. Elmer stepped up to the stage. He had short brown hair, dull grey eyes, and soft light skin. He wore a black uniform, a white linen shirt, black pants, and a pair of shoes. He wore a warm smile, one that didn't seem genuine nor look like a lie.

He spoke, gesturing to everyone, "Welcome dear students and visitors, I am Elmer, a Nameless. Today, I will be presenting my report regarding the topic called 'Historical Tales.'"

He started by pointing at evidence written on the board at his back. He stated, "The origins of these tales are unknown yet we all know them. 'Birth of the Palace,' 'Rise of Instigation,' 'Field of Expansion,' and so much more are left, making me wonder."

He added, "You may all be thinking to yourselves, 'But aren't these tales made by citizens of that era?.' And to that I say, yes, they certainly were. After all, history is only written by man."

He spoke, confident beyond belief, "But I believe, and from what data I have gathered that there are hidden agendas behind these tales. As for what they are, let me meticulously explain the details."

While Elmer continued to speak, Zixin had already fallen into deep sleep. Only those near him knew that he did which would soon create multiple rumors.

Zixin woke up, rubbing his eyes while still feeling drowsy. He slowly stood up, seeing that no one else was there, he concluded that the report must be over.

He soon left the room, heading out to wait for a carriage. After a few minutes of waiting, it finally arrived. He quickly entered it and began reviewing his notes.

While doing so, he thought about the presentation that he had attended. That Elmer sounded like a conspiracist. Tales have reasons they were written, huh? It seems everything in the world does. Well, some of his points did seem valid, like the mystery behind the tales' origin being shrouded in fog.

He soon remembered himself falling asleep. He thought in a joking remark, Well, it was boring so… I mean, despite history being a part of the topic, he didn't really grab me by the neck to take interest.

While Zixin was in deep thought, the carriage's movements came to a halt, signifying that they reached their destination.

Zixin quickly hopped off the carriage, walking towards the towering gates of the Palace. The gates were tall and menacing, emanating an aura of authority. The gates were stronger than steel and harder than diamonds. It was painted in mesmerizing gold.

But Zixin didn't flinch, already used to the fearsome restrictions of the gate. It soon opened, allowing him to enter.

After taking his bath, he changed into his usual clothes of white linen shirt, black pants, and shoes. Soon after, he sat at his seat in the dining area.

He immediately apologized, having his priorities set, "My apologies for ruining the atmosphere of last night's dinner."

Xiu Ying simply chuckled saying, "I didn't really mind it so there was never a need to apologize but I appreciate the thought."

Zixin then asked, curiosity filling his words, "I see. Then, may I ask the truth regarding the so-called 'Historical Tales?'"

Xiu Ying's smile seems to widen as she uses the chance to tease Zixin, "Oh? Curiosity kills the cat, dear brother. It is often those who seek that never come back. Could it be perhaps that you've fallen in love?"

"Huh? No!" Zixin instinctively stood up, answering like his life was on the line. He almost slammed the table but immediately remembered the food before them.

Xiu Ying chuckled, unsatisfied with her brother's answer, she continued, "Oh? How unfortunate, I wanted to have a sister-in-law soon."
