Location: Lucien's Hidden Facility – Sublevel 6, Isolation Ward
Vesper awoke with a gasp. The room was dim, her body soaked in sweat. She'd dreamt again—Nora's voice, Damien's gaze, and the sound of a piano in a forgotten home. But as her mind reeled, so did her heartbeat. Each beat was a war cry against the programming Lucien forced upon her.
The sedation had lessened.
Her mind was awakening.
A flicker of control returned to her limbs. Slowly, she reached toward the restraints binding her to the cold table. Her fingers trembled, but she was no longer the puppet Lucien crafted. Somewhere beneath the implants and injected commands, Vesper Lancaster remained.
She closed her eyes. Nora... Damien... wait for me.

Damien paced the room, blood still staining his shirt. "She adapted to the EMP. That's next-gen biotech. Lucien's doubled down."
Nora stood over blueprints of the old Kael facility. "Then we go to the source. If he replaced Vesper with a machine, the real one is still out there."
"Assuming she's still herself," Damien said flatly. "Lucien's tech doesn't just rewrite memory. It erases identity."
"She fought through it once," Nora insisted. "She will again."
Their eyes met, fire and hope battling in the silence.
Damien nodded. "We go in tomorrow. But not just the two of us. We bring back-up."

"Long time, Lancaster." The voice came from the shadows—gravelly, familiar.
Damien turned to face a man with cybernetic arms and eyes glowing faint green.
Kane Malcovich—former mercenary, one-time enemy, now a necessary ally.
"I need your fists," Damien said.
Kane smirked. "Or your conscience?"
Damien tossed a data chip on the table. "Lucien has her. The woman who once took you down with a pen and a pressure point."
Kane snorted. "Ah, the ghost girl. You should've led with that."
He stood, cracked his knuckles, and grinned. "Let's go save a legend."

Location: Lucien's Facility – Surveillance Hub
Lucien watched as Vesper pulled her left arm free, dislocating her wrist to slide past the bind.
"You're waking up," he whispered, both intrigued and amused.
He tapped on the console, initiating a security lockdown.
"If you survive, maybe you deserve to return to them. But first... let's see how deep the programming really runs."

Location: Lancaster Estate – War Room Balcony
Nora leaned on the railing, the night air wrapping around her. Damien stepped beside her, a rare softness in his eyes.
"Do you trust her?" she asked.
Damien hesitated. "I trust who she was."
"She could be anything now."
"She was more human than any of us, Nora. If there's even a sliver of her left, I'll find it."
Nora glanced sideways. "And if you don't?"
He turned fully to face her. "Then I'll fight whatever wears her face."
She nodded, then took his hand. "We fight together."

Location: Lucien's Facility – Vesper's Cell
The door hissed open.
Cyra stood in the doorway, identical to Vesper—face, hair, body.
"You shouldn't have woken up," she said in a monotone.
Vesper stood, still weakened, but her eyes burned.
"Neither should you."
They lunged.
Flesh versus machine. Emotion versus logic.
The battle for Vesper's soul had begun.
