Chapter 13 - HIS FATHER

Did I hear him correctly? Did he say he wanted me to spy on his father, the king of the Eternal Life kingdom?

I wanted to say no because if I get caught, I might visit a guillotine or beheading machine. My head will roll to the ground, and I will lose my life. Besides, I might receive a worse punishment: flogging, or my back might be flayed alive.

I almost shivered on the spot, and I asked, "You want me to spy on your father?"

The prince nodded his head and went to stand by the wall. He said with a sneer, "I need someone to work for me outside the palace. Someone not manipulated by money or wealth. Your loyalty doesn't lie with the throne, and you only live for yourself, which I can use."

I shake my head and say, "No. I can't do this. Besides, I'm not a good actor; I might get caught. Besides, why can't you pick someone else? Why me?"

The prince said, staring at me, "You are a little foolish, but you are brave, which will work out."

I continued shaking my head, "You're wrong, I'm not brave."

He signed and said, "I guess you'll need a little demonstration."

He wiped his hands down his black robe, and I looked at him in confusion when he walked past me. He said, walking toward the sleeping boy on the bed. "I will put him out of his misery, then I'll kill you afterwards. There's no point in keeping you both if you don't have any use."

I watched the prince wrap his hands around the little boy's neck. His words sent a terrifying horror through me, and I ran to the prince, grabbing his hand. I said with a tremor in my words, "O--Okay, I will be a spy or whatever you want! Don't touch him!"

He removed his hands from the boy's neck when he heard my words. My heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest even though his hands weren't on the boy's neck anymore.

When I began to calm down from my shock, the anger skyrocketed through my head, and I blurted out, "Do you have no morals, or is killing people so easy for you?!"

The prince stared at me like I was talking nonsense. He said with a little frown, "Killing is easy for me once you get used to it. When you live in a world like mine, you really don't have a choice but to care only about yourself and no one else."

I said to him, "That's just sad."

I narrowed my eyes at him when I asked, "How are you certain I won't betray you after all you killed my best friend? How do you know I won't side with the king? It's more beneficial for me to serve him instead of you."

The prince sneered at me like I was a fool. And he stepped towards me, making my chest beat a little. He raised his hand to my face, which sent a cold chill through me. He said with a disgusting look in his eyes, "You are welcome to betray me, but you should know that my father has a little thing for pretty faces. And he loves to break them piece by piece."

I was stunned, and my cheeks reddened a little when he said pretty. I immediately scold myself for feeling flattered easily. His hands began to rub my cheeks, and I stepped back away from him.

I asked with suspicion in my eyes, "What do you want to find out?"

He said with a faint, menacing smile, "I want you to find what he's planning, especially on my birthday."

I was confused, and I asked, "What's going to happen on your birthday?"

He said with a faint, cold smile and his eyes mysterious, "That's what I want you to find out."

I knew he was hiding something from me, but I didn't push him. Besides, I will find out myself in other ways.

I turned to Kaden on the bed, and I asked the prince without looking at him, "Are you going to give your blood now?"

I walked toward Kaden and took a seat next to the sleeping boy. I turned to look at the prince when he began to speak again. The prince had a white cup in his hands, and I saw him grabbing a small knife out of his robe. Which surprised me because I didn't see or feel any weapons when I was touching his clothes.

He held the small knife across his wrist. And he sliced his wrist without any hesitation. His face was cold and careful, like he wasn't hurting himself. I narrowed my eyes and wished he would cut himself further so he could bleed to death.

Sadly, that won't kill a vampire, especially a vampire prince.

The blood had poured into the cup, and it filled up to the top.

The prince must have seen the look on my face, and he said with a faint frown, "We need to practice hiding your feelings. There's no way you can spy on my father if you show your emotions this much."

He passed the cup to me, and I wanted to ask why he wasn't bothered when he knew I wanted him to die. Why would he have someone he knows that wants him dead near him?

It doesn't make sense to me.

I pinched the boy's nose, which caused him to open his mouth to gasp for air. I poured the blood in the boy's mouth slowly so he won't choke on it. And the boy swallowed, and I watched his skin turn healthier and more energized.

Then a few seconds later, the boy slowly opened his eyes with tiredness in his eyes. I looked at him with a warm smile on my face, and I said with a gentle voice, "Hey. How are you feeling?"

The boy immediately cried on the spot, tears dribbling down his cheeks when he said, "I thought you abandoned me! Wawawa!"
