Chapter 29 - Distasteful

Her heart almost jumped, thinking it was Ricardo who chased after her. When she turned around, she was relieved to know it was Edgar instead. He had gone to grab a glass of juice when he saw her speed walking while looking a little pale.

What's wrong, Rose? Did something happen? He asked, his expression full of concern. Looking at Edgar's tender face put Rose at ease. Her heartbeat slowed down, and a smile appeared on her face.

Nothing. I just saw something horrible earlier, but I'm fine now. She replied. Edgar handed the glass over to her.

Drink this first, Rose. Before she could take it, a little child ran over, slamming her and she lost her balance. Edgar quickly reacted and held her hand, catching her before she fell and accidentally pulled her close to him. Their eyes met each other for a moment. Rose's heartbeat was accelerating once again. Edgar was more handsome from up close.

It's okay, I am here. He said, calming her down. Rose was stunned. She felt her body getting a little warm. Edgar was so caring, he was dangerous in his own way.

At the same time, Ricardo was walking out of the bathroom and saw the scene. He clenched his fist.

Earlier, when he hugged her, Rose threatened to hand him over to the police, and filed a restraining order on him. Not just that, she stomped on his feet with her heels. If it wasn't for his thick leather loafers, his skin would be pierced already.

But when Edgar hugged her, she looked at him like he was a romantic partner or something. Ricardo was pissed. He couldn't let it go.

Ricardo approached the two of them and greeted Edgar.

Edgar, it has been a while. His voice sounded cold.

Rose separated herself from Edgar, and he subconsciously hid her behind him.

Ricardo, what a coincidence meeting you here. He replied. His voice was calm and gentle, but his face was cold and cautious. Clearly, he was trying to be polite while having his guard up at the same time.

They shook hands and Rose could have sworn she saw lighting flashing between the two of them. It was clear what their relationship was. Mortal enemies.

I heard you recently invested in your fiancée's movie production, "Lady in Black" and she's going to be starring as the main character. I'm a little worried since her acting is still a bit amateur. Edgar said. He was clearly trying to belittle Ricardo.

Hm, that shouldn't be a problem. Because I have a trump card. He turned his attention to Rose, who had been staying silent this entire time.

Isn't that right, Sapphire? Rose quickly raised her brow. What did he mean by that?

Edgar, you must not know it, but earlier today she walked into my office, and we had a rather pleasant, in-depth negotiation about her role in the movie. She's going to play the female lead, helping Diana out. He paused for a bit before continuing.

With her in the production, I am not too worried. She has a rather large fan base. I am sure people will come and watch just to see her perform alone.

Rose was annoyed. How dared he made up a scenario that never existed in the first place.

He said she was going to help Diana with her acting career. In his dreams!

Unlike Ricardo, Edgar had better control of his own emotions. He pulled Rose close to him, wrapped his arms at her waist and smiled at her.

Don't worry, honey. No matter what you do, I will always support you. As long as you are happy. You can even take my life if you want to. Rose couldn't help but felt touched by his words.

Those were sincere. He was not just trying to make Ricardo jealous, he meant those words.

Edgar was a perfect man. Rose regretted that she didn't fall in love with him first.

Seeing this, Ricardo was even more provoked. How could they act lovey-dovey in front of him? How distasteful!
