Chapter 2 - chapter 2

A beautiful morning began as Miya lay asleep, the soft knock at her door breaking the silence."Miya, wake up!" her sister called out. "You're still sleeping? Today's your Sangeet!"

(Sangeet – a traditional pre-wedding celebration where the bride's side enjoys music, dance, and fun – strictly no boys allowed!)

Miya, still groggy, stirred and mumbled, "Just five more minutes... it's only 7 AM anyway."But when she glanced at the clock, her eyes flew open. "It's 12 already?!" she gasped.

In a rush, she jumped out of bed. It hit her—she had been on the phone with Max all night, talking and laughing until sleep claimed her without warning.

After finishing her morning routine, Miya headed downstairs and was amazed to see her house beautifully decorated. Her heart warmed at the sight.

As she walked past the dining table, her mother smiled and said, "Finally awake, princess?"Her father chuckled, "Let her sleep, she won't get much rest after marriage!"

"Alright, just eat and start getting ready for your Sangeet," her mom added."Let me have a few bites first!" Miya replied with a grin.

An Hour Later

Miya sat in her chair, getting her makeup done. Suddenly, her phone rang—it was Max.She picked it up, and before she could say anything, he greeted her playfully,"Hello, Mrs. Max."

Blushing hard, Miya giggled. One of the makeup artists teased, "Seems like you don't even need blush—you're already turning pink!"Hearing that, Max chuckled on the call, "So you're blushing already, huh Mrs. Max?"

"Mr. Max, do you need something? You do remember it's my Sangeet today, right?" Miya asked."I do," he said. "That's why I'm getting ready.""Wait—what? You're not allowed! It's a girls-only function!" she protested.

"You're my soon-to-be wife, my love. I have to see you today. Let's see who stops me," Max replied with a playful challenge."Let's see about that," Miya laughed."Okay fine, bye then.""Bye—I love you, Cherry," he whispered.

Miya quickly ended the call before he could say anything else that'd make her blush harder.

Meanwhile...

John sat with his friends, laughing and chatting. Gabriel walked over with drinks."Bro, want one?" he offered."No thanks, Gabi. I've already had one," John replied.

One of John's friends nudged him and joked, "Gabriel's totally obsessed with you, man. He loves you like anything."John chuckled, "Yeah, he's not just my brother. He's my shadow—loyal and possessive."

Gabriel soon joined their table. But just then, one of John's friends casually asked,"So John, when are you going to introduce us to our sister-in-law?"

John froze for a second. He hadn't told Gabriel anything about her yet.Gabriel looked stunned. "Sister-in-law? What are they talking about? You're seeing someone?"John stumbled, "It's... just a girl I like."

Gabriel's expression darkened. Without a word, he stood up and walked away."Gabriel, wait!" John rushed after him."You never tell me anything," Gabriel snapped. "You're in love, and I'm hearing it from someone else?"

John sighed, "Okay... listen. Yes, I love someone. Her name is Miya. And... we're already married. Court marriage. Her family doesn't know yet, but she promised me she'll tell them in a few days."

Gabriel's eyes widened in shock. "Your friends know?""No," John said. "They just know I like someone. You're the only one who knows the whole truth. Please don't be mad."

Gabriel suddenly smiled and picked John up in his arms, spinning him playfully."Our sister-in-law is here!! The John who never talked to girls... married one!"

"Put me down, you idiot!" John laughed. "Don't tell the whole world yet. Her parents don't know!""They will. Don't worry," Gabriel said with a smirk."Yeah, they will. Just stay by my side, alright?""Always, brother. Now let's drink!""Tonight, we celebrate properly!" John laughed.
