Chapter 4 - Sasha ... A Killer? (Pt. 1)

After leaving Sasha to be handled by the detention center guards, Gamma Ray immediately rushed over to the Alpha's manor to inform him of what had transpired only moments ago.

Alpha Julian Thurgood has been in his private study, along with Beta Stephen Caldwell and Delta Colin Thompson, waiting for the emissaries from Transylvania to arrive. ... Suddenly, all heads sharply turn to the study's doors as the Gamma comes bursting in, loudly exclaiming...

""Sasha ... she's gone completely mad!"

Perplexed expressions instantly overtake the countenances of the Rainier Pack's three highest-ranking wolves. Alpha Julian asks in a demanding tone...

"What do you mean Sasha's gone completely mad? What are you talking about, Ray? Explain yourself; tell me now."

Along with his perplexed visage, Delta Colin's countenance is also conveying an expression of anxious worry blended into it as well. Truth is, the Delta was responsible for helping to arrange this visit from the emissaries tonight ... and is well aware of the actual purpose behind them coming....

And that actual purpose is one that he definitely doesn't want the others to know that he's implicated in ... especially the Alpha's sister, Teresa; whom he made special arrangements for to conveniently be out of town when the emissaries showed up to pick up Katarina.

The Delta quickly interjects, "And what about the emissaries, where are they? Weren't you supposed to be bringing them here now?"

Alpha Julian glares at the Delta with rebuking eyes, and harshly barks out at him, "Shut your mouth and be quiet, Colin; forget about the damn emissaries for now! Can't you see we may have more pressing matters to deal with?! Stop interrupting!"

The Alpha looks back to the Gamma. "Now, Ray; what's going on with Sasha? What happened?"

The Gamma, who is clearly disheveled as a result of the violent altercation, takes in a deep breath to try and compose himself so he'll be able to explain what happened while speaking in a calmer fashion.

"Sasha ... my Alpha ... she attacked the emissaries that came here for Katarina."

The Apha's countenance appears more perplexed than before ... while the Delta's complexion has turned pale.

The baffled Alpha asks, in an almost disbelieving tone, "What do you mean Sasha attacked the emissaries ... that's absurd ... why would she do such a thing?"

"I have no idea, my Alpha; I'm merely informing you of what just happened."

The Beta ... who is just as baffled and also finding this a little hard to believe like the Alpha ... interjects himself into the conversation...

"Pardon me for interrupting, but ... I must admit that I'm a bit confused here myself, Ray. Sasha's five-years-old; a mere child ... and a small one at that. How could she possibly attack a group of eight emissaries? ... And I'm assuming that they were being escorted by you and your men when this happened; no?"

The Gamma nods, and the Beta continues...

"Then how could Sasha have attacked them? I mean, honestly Ray, I realize that she's an Acrilian she-wolf, and all; but seriously, how really bad could Sasha have hurt them?"

There's a brief momentary silence before the Gamma hesitantly tells them in a sheepish manner...

"They're ... they're all dead."

The three of them are instantly taken aback ... actually, more like totally stunned ... and, as if as in unison, their mouths become fully agape as their jaws drop open.

And as for the Delta, his complexion has gone from pale to white as a ghost; dreading of what's going to happen when then truth finally comes out ... which is surely going to happen sooner than later.

An unnerving silence heavily permeates the room for a moment or two, while everyone present tries to wrap their minds around what has occurred. But finally, the Alpha, who's still in utter disbelief over what he's just been told, breaks that silence by asking, in an incredulous tone...

"They're all dead? You mean ... Sasha actually killed all of them ... by herself?"

Again, in a hesitantly sheepish manner, the Gamma informs the Alpha...

"My Alpha ... Julian ... Sasha just didn't kill them ... she ... she tore them to pieces."

************

About half an hour later after Sasha's processing into the detention center...

Luna Sarah Thurgood goes to the detention to check on Sasha. She is accompanied by Jacqueline, her daughter, and Katarina; both of whom are extremely worried about the state of their 'sister'. That's right; as far as Sasha, Katarina, and Jacqueline ... who technically is actually their 'cousin' ... are concerned, they are sisters; and no one will tell them otherwise.

Once taken down to the solitary cell that Sasha is being detained in, upon looking in on her, the Luna is instantly appalled by the deplorable manner in how the five-year-old, little she-wolf is being restrained. This sight is so disturbing to them, that it makes Katarina and Jacqueline break out in tears.

But then suddenly, Jacqueline, who is merely seven years old, forcibly holds back her tears, stomps over to the burly guard ... who not only towers over her, but also weighs a good two hundred plus pounds more than her ... and looks him dead in the eyes with a fearless, fierce glare; then shouts at the top of her lungs...

"You let my sister out of here now! Let her go or I'll tell my Dad to beat the crap out of you!"

And the sight that has them all this upset ... that's making Jacqueline infuriated to the point where she'll unabashedly lash out at a detention guard ... is that Sasha remains completely heavily bound by those bulky, fortified chains and muzzled in that seemingly 'torturous-designed piece of apparel', which only leaves her eyes and the small area at the top bridge of her nose visible.

Of course, the state that Sasha's being kept in isn't only making Jacqueline infuriated; it's angering her mother as well. The Luna turns to the guard with an evident ire and disgust in her eyes.

But, unlike her free-spirited daughter ... who's just a somewhat strong-willed child who, for better or worse, takes more after her aunt than her mother ...the Luna must control her temperament.

Luna Sarah tries to speak in a collectedly calm and dignified tone; one befitting of her status as the Luna of the Rainier Pack...

"Tell me, what is the meaning of this? Please explain to me why this little girl is being constrained in such a clearly painful, constricting manner?"

The guard informs her, "My Luna, this is what we were instructed to do by Gamma Ray himself. These are cautionary measures taken to protect us from being harmed by that crazed, little she-wolf."

An irately incredulous look befalls the Luna's countenance as she scoffs, "'Protect us from being harmed by that crazed, little she-wolf' you say ... and just what threat does such a tiny, five-year-old little girl pose to us exactly?"

Feeling pressured ... like 'his back up was against a wall' ... and he needed to somehow justify himself to the Luna, he bluntly blurts out without any discretion; not even taking into consideration or given a second thought to the fact that there were two very young girls present with her...

"My Luna, with all due respect, that 'tiny, five-year-old little girl' viciously ripped apart eight visiting emissaries from the Order of the Old Clan ... with her own bare hands, no less!"

Upon hearing that, Katarina and Jacqueline almost fall into a state of shock; with their eyes instantly widening and mouths becoming fully agape, while all the coloring in their already paled complexions dissipates even further. They wobble back slightly as their knees start to buckle.

Their minds are spinning in disorienting confusion and utter disbelief ... how was it possible ... how could their dear sweet sister commit such a ghastly act? They think to themselves "No, this can't be true, there must be some mistake ... right?"

The Luna herself is momentarily flabbergasted, totally taken aback by this appalling revelation. She had only heard that Sasha had gone on some sort of 'violent spree'; she had no idea of the true extent of this what so far appears to be a brutally heinous atrocity.

Still, the Luna rationalizes in her mind while trying to regain her composure, Sasha is merely a child and doesn't need to be treated in such an inhumane manner, regardless of her inexplicably murderous actions.

Besides, at this point in time, there are too many unknowns surrounding the bloody massacre; so, until all the circumstances come to light, and the truth is revealed, the Luna intends on giving Sasha the benefit of the doubt.

So, the Luna begins to 'cross-examine' the guard like 'a cunningly shrewd defense attorney', "And how many of our pack members did she kill?"

Momentarily blindsided by the Luna's seemingly random question ... and not exactly sure where she was going with it ... the guard warily responds...

"None that I heard about, yet; my Luna."

"None yet? So, I suppose it's safe to say ... as far as we know for now ... Sasha hasn't killed any of our own pack; correct?"

Still unsure about the Luna's intent, he hesitantly answers, "Yes ... that is correct; my Luna."

"Okay, then tell me this; did Sasha hurt any pack members..." The Luna makes it a point to facetiously add, "'That you heard about, yet'?"

Confident now that he has a surefire rebuttal for this question, the guard quickly responds with no hesitation whatsoever...

"Yes, my Luna, as a matter of fact she has. There are several SDF members in the infirmary right now that were banged up pretty bad during that little, she-wolf's rampage."

Not allowing this seemingly minor setback throw her 'defense game' off, the Luna strategically counters, "And just how did they get hurt ... did Sasha deliberately attack them, as well?"

Once again momentarily caught off guard by the Luna's cunning questioning, the guard hesitantly replies with faltering confidence in his sheepish tone...

""Well ... I guess..." He notices the Luna's scrutinizingly discerning eyes locked upon him, and concedes as he reluctantly answers, "Maybe not exactly deliberately..."

The Luna quickly interjects, "'Maybe not exactly deliberately' ... then what exactly?"

"Well ... from what I heard..." The guard admits, "They were hurt when they tried to stop Sasha from attacking the emissaries... She threw them away to get them off of her."

"I see, so Sasha didn't intentionally attack them; they were trying to restrain her and just wound up being collateral damage."

The guard becomes a bit incensed and brusquely retorts...

"With all due respect, my Luna; but 'collateral damage'? These are our own pack members we're talking about ... hurt at the hands of some feral, rogue she-wolf who decides to go shit bat-crazy and..."

The Luna loses her calm demeanor and abruptly cuts off the guard...

"Stop right there and think about what you're going to say next! That 'feral, rogue she-wolf', as you called her, happens to be my niece. So, I strongly suggest that you choose your words very carefully from now on, because you're dangerously treading on very thin ice."

The guard bites his tongue as he insincerely apologies; only in an effort to save his own hide...

"My apologies, my Luna." He frustratedly huffs, "But, with all due respect, my Luna; how could you lightly dismiss her hurting members who were actually born into our pack ... even if, like you contend, it was done unintentionally?" He snidely comments through gritted teeth, "Even if she's ... your so-called niece?"

The Luna slowly steps over towards the guard, then leans in and softly, yet menacingly, whispers in his ear...

"I already told you once to choose your words very carefully ... don't make me have to tell you again. This is your final warning, so heed what I'm telling you and mind your words ... unless you want me to have the Alpha take your tongue."

The Luna steps away, leaving the guard trembling from fear of retaliation from the Alpha, who just as he seemingly does anything his sister asks, would most likely do the same for the Luna.

The Luna continues, "Just so you know, I have no intention of lightly dismissing anything ... not what my niece has done ... and not how she's currently being mistreated with these detestable detainment conditions."
