Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 : Ability

Another nurse arrived shortly after the interrogation ended.

Director Wen said that since they still need to verify her statement, Yuki couldn't leave yet.

She offered no unnecessary words, only a respectful nod before carefully helping Yuki back into the wheelchair.

The two of them walk down the white hallway. They passed the cafeteria and arrived at the private ward where she woke up.

After the nurse helped Yuki sit on the hospital bed, she left the wheelchair on the side of the bed and told Yuki to take some rest, before leaving the room politely.

Lying down on the large hospital bed, Yuki breathed a sigh of relief.

"That sword."

"That heavy and suffocating sword intent was truly magical."

"As expected of the sword intent I systematically planned." Yuki nods in approval.

Even now, the memory of it lingered—like an invisible weight on her chest.

"That fcking bastard Jian," Yuki thought bitterly, biting down a groan as the thought suddenly resurfaced on her mind. "Draw a sword on a child, will you? What's next, interrogating puppies with a whip ?"

After Yuki repeatedly cursed that scumbag in her mind, Yuki unconsciously jerked around the bed like a spoiled child.

When she realized it, she was surprised.

"It doesn't hurt anymore ?"

Yuki remembered the golden lights and warm energy which flowed through her body from Director Wen.

She still felt it, traces of Director Wen's golden light coursing faintly through her meridians. It wasn't powerful, but it was gentle. Clean. Balancing. Where Jian's presence had threatened to slice her apart, Wen's touch had brought everything back together.

Her breaths deepened, smoother now. The pain in her chest—especially the tearing ache near her right ribs—had dulled significantly. Not gone, but much more bearable.

Must've been spiritual rejuvenation… supportive-type healing technique. Elegant work, too, Yuki noted.

Even the stiffness in her legs had faded. Her right foot still throbbed, and the ghost sensation of those piercing claws hadn't vanished, but the searing pain was now a soft sting instead of a burning spear.

For the first time since waking up in this world, she felt like she could breathe.

She shifted slightly under the covers and winced, still a bit stressed and anxious, but compared to earlier, this was practically luxury.

"That golden light… I should ask what it is when I see him again, she thought, eyelids growing heavy. I need to know what kind of techniques exist here. Especially healing ones. It could be very useful."

She stared at the ceiling for a moment longer, then exhaled slowly.

Not arrested, hopefully… and still alive, somehow.

Small victories.

Her eyes drifted shut.

Yuki lay on the bed, arms resting limply at her sides. The warmth from Director Wen's healing still lingered faintly in her body. Her chest didn't sting as much, and the pain in her foot had dulled to a distant throb.

For the first time since she woke up in this world, she could finally think.

And that was when it came back to her.

Right after the light swallowed her in that cave. Right before she lost consciousness, there were system prompts.

Yuki stared at the faint blue screen hovering above her, quietly rereading the words she'd seen during that half-conscious moment in the snow.

[Quest Completed: Survived the F-Rank Snow Elves Dungeon]

+5 Random Bonus Stats

1 Bronze Lottery Ticket

[First Clear Bonus: F-Rank Snow Elves Dungeon]

1 Silver Lottery Ticket

She let out a slow breath, her eyes narrowing.

"So the rewards are real…" she muttered, glancing to the corner of her vision where the prompt hovered.

The bonus stats were already applied. She could feel the difference—slight, but noticeable. Her arms didn't feel as heavy. Her stamina and pain tolerance got somewhat better. She even thought that the extra stats were what gave her the ability to crawl through the forest when she was dying.

Still, what caught her attention wasn't the stats.

It was the lottery tickets.

Her eyes lingered on the two entries, one bronze, one silver.

"They look way too suspicious," she muttered.

She knew how these things worked. Random rewards? Mystery prizes? It was gacha logic. Which meant RNG. Which meant frustration.

Yuki sighed and rolled her head back against the pillow.

"Of course I'd get a gacha system. I had garbage luck even in mobile games."

She debated saving the tickets. Maybe the system had a multi-draw feature. Ten pulls for better odds, that was usually the rule, right?

But as the silence stretched, her eyes narrowed again.

She couldn't afford to sit still in this world. Not like this. Not with no backing, no plot armor, no help. She needed strength. Resources. Options.

And the system was the only thing she had.

"System," she called out. "Use one bronze lottery ticket."

The air shimmered. The familiar prompt returned.

[Using 1x Bronze Lottery Ticket…]

The screen flickered.

A moment later, another prompt appeared.

[+3 Level Up Tickets (Foundation Stage)]

[Do you wish to accept this reward?]

[Y/N]

Yuki blinked.

Level up tickets?

Foundation Stage?

Her heart jumped slightly, but she didn't reach out just yet. Instead, she stared at the glowing confirmation screen and whispered.

"…so that's how it works, huh?" Yuki smirked.

Yuki stared at the glowing prompt.

[+3 Level Up Tickets (Foundation Stage)]

[Do you wish to accept this reward?] [Y/N]

Her mind was just a millimeter away from confirmation. Just one thought and it would be hers.

Three free level-ups. Straight to Foundation Stage 3rd Layer.

That kind of jump would save her months of grinding.

But instead of excitement, a cold shiver crawled up her spine.

"Should I really accept this right now?"

She bit her lip.

It sounded great to immediately level up. But what would happen if she suddenly advanced while lying in a hospital bed ?

Her spiritual presence would change. Her body would become stronger. And anyone with half a brain—or a spiritual sense—would instantly notice the changes.

"Wouldn't that look suspicious?"

She swallowed.

The thought of what would happen if Jian Tong Xuan noticed the upgrade in her cultivation level made her stomach tightened.

That man had drawn a sword over a stuttered sentence. What would he do if he found out she'd suddenly increased 3 levels overnight?

Yuki glanced at the window, the sunlight spilling onto the floor.

A sudden image flashed in her mind.

Her own head… neatly separated from her neck.

She winced.

"Yeah. No thanks," she whispered, shifting slightly on the bed.

She took a deep breath and mentally selected No.

[Reward stored in Inventory.]

The prompt vanished.

Yuki let out a slow breath.

"I should think about it after I leave this place."

"Now what about the silver lottery?" Yuki eyes gleaming with excitement.

Even a bronze lottery grants her an upgrade of 3 cultivation levels. Then, shouldn't a silver lottery grant her more ?

[ Using 1x Silver lottery ticket ]

Yuki eyes attached to the semi-transparent screen.

A moment later.

[ Congratulations for the subject to receive "Copy"]

"Copy ? What does it do ?"

Yuki stared at the screen for a few seconds before suddenly an explanation appeared on her mind.

[ Copy ]

The ability to make an exact copy of a single ability or skills the user had experienced. The number of copyable ability : 1

"Wow, such an overpowered ability. As expected from a silver draw, just this alone should be able to make me an OP Mc in a novel." Yuki exclaimed in excitement.

"I think my bad RNGs from my previous world were all for this." Yuki grinned.

However a realization hit her. The 'copy' skill could only be used when she had personally experienced the skill she wanted to copy.

In her current situation. She might not be able to even see any powerful skill. And if experiencing the skill meant that she had to personally get attacked by the skill, it becomes much less possible.

Just when she was deflated by that realization, an idea formed within her mind.

"Experienced the skill? Did that sword intent from Jian Tong Xuan count ?"

Without further ado, he used the [Copy] skill and thought about that dominant and overpowering sword intent.

[ The system detects the skill "Heavy Mountain Sword Intent"Continue to copy ? ]

"Yes." Yuki accepted.
