Lilah expected Dawn to lie and put it all on her and she did as she expected.
There would be nothing left if Dawn lied and everyone supported her lie but Lilah did not like it.
She did not like that she would have to suffer under Dawn's lie.
Seeing as how her brothers were still on her side and looking after her, she refused to let this incident go so easily. If she had something to use to fight back, why hold back?
She... Wanted to get back at them. As long as her brothers were still by her side, she would be able to get what she wanted.
"It's a lie." Lilah said, causing Dawn to freeze in shock.
What did she just say?
"Someone tripped me." Lilah said. "I don't know who it was, but they were standing in that direction." She pointed in the direction Dawn was standing in.
Patrick's eyes widened in outrage as he stormed into the room. "How dare you people!" he bellowed, his voice echoing off the walls. He quickly swept Lilah off the floor and into his arms. "My sister, my precious sister," he whispered, his voice trembling with rage. "I'm sorry you had to go through this." He glared at Dawn.
"W-why are you looking at me like that?" Dawn stuttered, her body trembling as she felt they would no longer listen to her. "I only said what I believed I saw. I saw her fall and assumed she tripped. I... I didn't know she was tripped."
"And yet the person that tripped her was standing next to you." Harry said had grabbed the girl next to Dawn. "I'm going to give you one chance. Tell me the truth or I'll feed you to the dogs."
He glared at her, his eyes blazing with fury and the girl trembled in fear.
What was going on? She was sure the Anderson brothers were suckers for their sister, for Dawn. So she believed it would be fine no matter what she did to the outcast. But they were suddenly protecting the outcast.
Why?
"You think you can humiliate her? You think you can treat her like this?" He clenched his grip on her hand and then he glanced at everyone around. "You're nothing but a bunch of heartless vultures, preying on the weak. How dare you think you can make fun of my sister?"
"I... I did but it was m-mistake." The girl confessed.
"So it's a mistake that you kicked her cane way over there."
The cane was too far away to assume it was a mistake. Everyone there contributed to this incident.
"You were all invited to celebrate my sister's birthday and yet you do this to her?!" He flung her away. "You're all pathetic."
Patrick's face twisted in disgust, holding on to Lilah carefully and tenderly. "Get out," he spat, his eyes dark. "Get out of my sight before I lose my temper completely." The guests scrambled to leave, their faces pale with fear.
As the last guest fled, Harry turned his attention back to Lilah. "Are you okay, sis?" he asked, his voice softening.
Lilah nodded, her voice barely above a whisper. "I-I'm fine, Brother Patrick."
Patrick's expression turned fierce again. "I'll make sure they pay for this," he vowed. "No one hurts my sister and gets away with it."
His words made Lilah's heart thump warmly and she held him.
If they were going to protect her like this... Why did they take so long? Why did they watch from the side till the damage had been done?
Why?
She cried and this made the brothers feel horrible.
"Hurry, take Lilah to her room and get her wounds treated."
And that was how the party ended.
Harry glared at Dawn.
"And you... You're going to hear from me very soon. I will no longer tolerate your antics." He declared.
"No, no, brother. Please, it's a mistake. I didn't even do anything."
"Exactly!" His voice roared. "It's precisely because you didn't do anything while your helpless sister was in danger that I fail to understand how you can still stand there and say that. You..." He looked at her with eyes of disappointment and disgust. "You've disappointed me, Dawn. I have no hope for you anymore."
Dawn heard these words and slumped to the floor.
No, no, this could not be. Her precious brothers who loved her to bits... No one could take them away from her. No one.
But what could she do?
If only Lilah could just disappear.
She held a murderous gaze as she glared at Lilah who was warmly in Patrick's arms.
They were about to leave with Lilah when someone suddenly barged in, opening the two huge doors.
His presence carried a certain chill. His pale skin and red eyes peered in their direction.
He had her black hair on top of her pale skin and red eyes that were redder than blood. His face was smooth, like a young lad but it was clear that he was someone who had lived for quite a while seeing how dignified he carried himself.
Lilah felt her body freeze up in that moment as she felt the gaze of the one who walked in fall on hers in an eerie way.
"I hope I wasn't the one who crashed the party," the unexpected guest said. Even his voice was as chilly as his presence. "Hm, it doesn't seem like it. Then, did I arrive too late?" He took out a pocket watch from his inner pocket and checked the time. "But I believe I'm not more than an hour late so what happened to the party?"
"Who are you?" Harry asked, his fist clenched. Even if he did not know who this person was, his features looked like the infamous vampires. "And what do you want here?"
Lilah gulped. She didn't even need to hear his response to know that this man was a vampire. The chills he gave her... The feeling of death was so vivid in front of her.
It made her tremble.
So, it was time, huh? It was time for her to be given to the vampires.
"I'm the great emissary for the noble Valentino family." He said, his eyes peering into Lilah's dull eyes. "And I have come with word from our Lord." He pointed at Lilah. "That lady in your hands. My Lord wants her. So," he stretched his arms out, ready to take over as he squinted his eyes and his lips curled up. "Hand her over and I'll be on my way."
Hearing this, Dane suddenly began to laugh like a maniac.
It was as if her prayers had been instantly answered. Finally, Lilah would be gone from their lives. From her life.
At that moment, the question hit Lilah again,
'Do you want to live?'
