I tried to practice the Overflowing Sword Perfect Technique today.
I mean, the manual did say it would be compatible with my sword… so why not give it a shot?
Each technique I had was still only at the first layer of comprehension, but that didn't stop me from feeling a bit proud. I grinned to myself. In just a few weeks, I'd gotten my hands on a legacy technique and awakened a heaven-defying physique. Not gonna lie, even Void Realm cultivators would cry tears of jealousy over that kind of luck.
I channeled the Overflowing Sword Technique into my weapon.
The sword trembled, almost humming with power, and I swung it.
A single slash.
A simple one… but powered by my heaven-defying physique, it was easily twenty times stronger than any normal blow.
The result?
The weather changed.
Yeah, it started raining. I'm not even kidding. The sky, clear a second ago, darkened like someone had flipped a celestial light switch. Wind howled. Thunder grumbled in the distance. Birds ran for their lives. I stood there with my sword, nodding seriously like this was totally normal.
"Yep. All according to plan," I muttered, pretending I hadn't just accidentally summoned a microstorm.
Though most core formation could also do it easily changing the Weather a foundation establishment and early stage at that?.
if words got out the cultivation world will surely be shocked.
The air was split cleanly, as if my blade had cut through space itself. Satisfied, I sheathed the sword and moved on to the next technique in my arsenal: the Shadow Veil Sect's first movement technique.
I activated it, and the next moment—boom—I was in the air.
"Whoa—!"
I didn't even blink, yet I was soaring. My body moved like I'd teleported. Sure, I was at the Foundation Establishment stage, and flight was technically possible, but this was different. I hadn't even figured out how to fly properly yet!
Which is why I immediately began falling.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck—!"
I plummeted from the sky, arms flailing, wind blasting in my ears. Apparently, I'd stepped off the mountain during the technique—roughly 200 meters from the edge. Incredible range… but terrible landing.
I crashed into the forest like a meteor, dust and leaves exploding around me. Fortunately, my body was insanely tough—heaven-defying physique, remember? Even back when I was only at Skin Refining, I could probably tank a truck. Now? I barely felt bruised.
I sat up, groaning, brushing off twigs and leaves. "Well, that could've gone worse."
I looked around to check my surroundings. Thick trees, dense foliage—definitely deep forest territory. I needed to get back, but before that… maybe I should test my flying again. I focused my Qi, lifted off the ground, and—voila—I was floating.
"Okay, maybe I am a genius," I muttered, grinning.
I rose slightly to spot my mountain in the distance. I could see the peak from here, and I nodded. Might as well walk for a bit and test more techniques.
I walked for a few minutes before I stumbled upon… trouble.
Not one, not two, not three… not even five. Ten late Foundation Establishment wolves.
A whole pack.
And right in the middle of them stood their leader—a massive white wolf with fur like snow and muscles like it bench-pressed boulders for fun. Its glowing eyes locked onto me, and I gulped.
"Just my luck..." I muttered.
I tried backing away slowly, pretending to be a leaf in the wind or a passing squirrel. It didn't work. The wolves noticed. They growled. One took a step forward. Then another. Then—
"Yep, I'm screwed."
I sighed and shook my head. I could intimidate them using a fake Nascent Soul aura I had prepared, but… where's the fun in that? I needed real combat experience anyway.
I activated the Heaven-Defying Defense and Enhancement Techniques, 1st Layer. Instantly, my bones, muscles, and organs felt five times stronger. My skin turned slightly harder than steel. I also felt… wrapped? Like I was a sushi roll made of indestructible flesh.
Uncomfortable? Definitely. Effective? Hopefully.
Five wolves rushed me at once.
I grinned, activated the Shadow Veil movement, and blink—I was behind one wolf.
Slash!
The Overflowing Sword cleaved through it like tofu. The blade didn't stop there—it went on to slice through the tree behind it, which fell with a mighty crash.
The remaining wolves howled in rage and lunged at me.
I kept teleport-dodging and slicing—down went another wolf. Then another. And another. Four more fell, leaving five remaining. The rest began circling me warily, clearly realizing I wasn't just some lost cultivator in the woods.
I let my guard down just a bit—rookie mistake.
Slash!
A searing pain tore through my stomach, and I was flung backward, crashing into a tree. Blood spurted from my mouth.
It was the leader.
I hadn't even seen him move.
"Dammit…" I muttered, wiping blood from my lips. If not for my defense technique and not for my physique I'd be in pieces.
The white wolf stood in front of me again, massive claws raised.
I saw it—right there—about to swipe at my face. I could count the hairs on its paw. Without hesitation, I activated the Shadow Veil step, blinking away at the last possible moment. I landed clumsily on the other side, panting.
"My life literally flashed before my eyes," I gasped.
No time to breathe. Another wolf scratched me across the side. Light wound, but I was drained. I popped a 7th-tier recovery pill in my mouth. My Qi surged instantly. Body healed. Energy back online.
"God bless alchemy," I whispered.
But in those few seconds, the wolf leader had already closed the distance. I raised my sword and clashed with its claws—sparks flew. Both of us staggered back.
I grinned.
Then used the Shadow Veil again, appearing behind it and slashing for its neck.
But to my absolute horror… it was already behind me.
"What the—?!"
I spun around just in time to raise my sword—but the attack wasn't a claw.
It was a giant, glowing blue ball in its mouth.
"Wait, wait, WAIT—!"
BOOM!
The ball of condensed spiritual energy exploded against me. My entire body was launched backward like a ragdoll. I crashed through trees, bounced off the ground, and finally stopped after flattening a boulder.
"Urgh… core formation gap is real…" I muttered, stars spinning above me.
I tried reaching into my spatial pouch for another pill, but guess what?
The other wolves—yes, the still-alive ones—lunged toward me with snarling jaws.
I sighed. "Yep. I'm screwed again."
