Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: The FBI and DEA are fighting over Ryan!

This case is definitely out of LAPD's hands.

But Ryan found the drugs, and the drug dealers who came to retrieve them were taken out by Ryan.

The LAPD's credit for this case is untouchable.

As for who ends up with the case, that's none of LAPD's business.

Both are national law enforcement agencies—they're big shots!

'Commander Alicia, these drug dealers were all taken out in a short period!'

'Can you tell me who did it?' Samuel Moore asked.

The SWAT team members all looked at Ryan.

Samuel and Thomas Green also looked at Ryan.

'Ryan Lee, um…'

Samuel started to call Ryan's name but paused.

'Thirteen days ago, he became a rookie patrol officer at the LAPD Hollywood Division. On his first day on the job, he single-handedly killed five kidnappers and saved pop superstar Taylor Swift.'

'On his first day back from leave, during a morning patrol, he shot and killed two drug dealers resisting arrest and was placed on administrative leave. While on a date with Taylor at a small restaurant, he also killed an assassin targeting Congressman Liam.'

Samuel recited Ryan's background with perfect clarity, and Ryan wasn't the least bit surprised.

Never underestimate the FBI's intelligence capabilities. This veteran law enforcement agency, with a nationwide network, has intelligence capabilities that are truly astonishing!

The FBI is the top law enforcement agency in the entire country!

Although the DHS (Department of Homeland Security) was established after 9/11 and is massive in scale, when it comes to experience and resources, the FBI is still superior.

'Ryan, can you tell me why you possess such formidable combat capabilities?' Samuel asked, his gaze intense.

Ryan remained silent. The FBI wasn't his superior; if they had evidence, they should present it and arrest him directly. This wasn't an official investigation, so he had no obligation to respond.

Alicia stepped in front of Ryan and said coldly:

'Samuel Moore, Ryan is not a suspect!'

Her tone was firm, brimming with frustration.

Samuel suddenly smiled:

'Relax, Commander Alicia.'

'I'm just curious about how he acquired such abilities.'

'Aren't you curious?'

'There were ten drug dealers armed with automatic weapons, and they were all taken down in a short amount of time!'

Thomas looked at Ryan, a thought flashing through his mind.

'Ryan, would you consider joining the DEA?'

'Your combat skills are exceptional. If you join the DEA, you could become an operations chief in just a few years.'

Although the DEA only handles drug-related cases, drug dealers are the most dangerous, and every mission could involve intense firepower.

Thomas had already set his sights on poaching Ryan.

Everyone's eyes turned to Ryan's face.

Before Ryan could speak, Samuel's face turned green.

(Speaking of which, how could he tell his face was green? Microexpression experts find it hardest to read black people, as many expressions are impossible to analyze!)

He was the field supervisor of the FBI's Los Angeles branch, busy every day.

Had he spent so much time researching Ryan's background just to interrogate him? Of course not!

He had also noticed Ryan's abilities and wanted to recruit him into the FBI!

The FBI needed practical, hands-on talent!

After all, the FBI didn't just deal with drug dealers—bank robbers and even terrorists were routine.

The DEA may be dangerous, but they mostly deal with 'businessmen.' The FBI, on the other hand, faces madmen who are willing to trade their lives for yours!

He wanted to use his revolver to shoot Thomas right there!

'F**k you, Thomas!' Samuel shouted angrily.

Then he hurriedly turned to Ryan: 'Ryan, I'm not investigating you for any other reason. I'm sincerely inviting you to join the FBI!'

'At the FBI, not only are the benefits better than the LAPD, but you won't have to be put on administrative leave all the time!'

Thomas rolled his eyes: 'Samuel, you're such a b*tch!'

'Ryan, when it comes to benefits, the DEA is the best in the country!'

The DEA is essentially a bloodsucking law enforcement agency feeding off drug dealers. The assets seized from drug dealers are eventually converted into cash to subsidize the agency's operations.

Embezzlement is a personal offense, but generating revenue for the department is called improving departmental welfare!

Seeing both supervisors trying to poach the same person, Commander Alicia's face turned dark!

'F**k! Samuel, Thomas, do you even acknowledge my existence?'

'Ryan is our LAPD man; you don't need to worry about him. We'll promote him ourselves!'

[Shit, I need to talk to the old-timers at Parker headquarters ASAP and get Ryan promoted, with a raise and a higher rank. If we wait any longer, he'll be poached for sure!]
