Damon
I massaged my forehead as a sigh escaped my lips. To say that I was pissed off would be an understatement. My cheek still hurts till now from the force of my mate's slap.
My mate.
No woman has ever slapped me before, till this morning.
Granted, I deserved it for scenting her without permission. I hadn't even realized I did that until after my ear rang from the slap, and the bewildered expression on her face made me realize that the slap had been impulsive.
Of course she didn't apologize. Despite appearing shocked and a little panicked, she refused to apologize for doing that and instead, she gave me a firm warning to never touch her again.
Thinking about her right now was making my head start to pound all over again and I groaned a little as I threw the pen on the table and slumped back in my chair. I was in the pack's office, I had a lot of things to do today, but I've been unable to get anything done today.
I could feel my wolf within me, whining for our mate, but I pointedly ignored him because the slap our mate gave us this morning was a reminder that she hated us.
And how dare she hate me? A whole me.
Someone of her caliber is supposed to be kissing the ground my brothers and I walk on for accepting her as our mate.
She was supposed to be feeling extremely grateful for that because it is a privilege to be accepted by wolves of our caliber. But instead, the wildcat actually hated us and would certainly still try to run away if given the chance.
She was wolfless. Never have I met a wolfless person with as much pride as she has.
The reason why my brothers readily suggested that I return with our mate first, was because my curse has reached a crucial stage, requiring emergency treatment, which means I need to break it as fast as possible before it ends up killing me.
The curse was gradually killing me. Every night since the moment my brothers and I got cursed, we used to lose control of ourselves and transform into mindless monsters. As the years passed by without us finding our mate, the curse began to worsen and worsen.
The stage of my own curse was a critical one, and last night was proof of that. I had almost fully lost control of myself, and if I had actually lost control, I'd go on a rampage and start killing people, before I end up killing myself. The seer who tried finding a cure for my brothers and I after we got cursed thoroughly explained what the curse meant and how it worked.
There was no cure whatsoever. The only cure was that after we found our mate, she'd let us feed on her blood every now and then till the curse fully leaves us.
We had also been told that the three of us would have to share a mate because we're destined to have just one, and that it's gonna be a powerful woman, which was why her blood was gonna be strong enough to break the curse.
However, our mate was the complete opposite of what we expected. She wasn't powerful, she was freaking wolfless.
She was in the lowest of the low ranking when it comes to wolves, she also looked quite basic, there was nothing outstanding about her. Her attitude was very revolting and she was a huge piece of work.
I was asked to bring our mate back with me to help with my curse, but then she wouldn't even let me come close to her and had forbade me from touching her. So how the hell was I supposed to get the curse broken?
I've decided that I'd have to see my brothers later today and update them about the current development with our mate, so perhaps they could give me some advice on how to navigate the situation with our mate.
I let out an exhale before pushing out of the chair and then I exited the office, because I had been unable to get a thing so far anyway.
I walked down the stairs, nodding at a few maids who bowed respectively.
"Your highness." Two maids curtsied before me. "We've supplied Miss Sue with whatever she might need." They informed me. After exiting Sue's bedroom right after she warned me to never touch her again, I instructed those maids to provide a full wardrobe for Sue and to see to her beck and call on moving forward.
"That's good. Ensure to keep an eye on her whenever she leaves the room." I tell them before walking past them.
I didn't lock Sue in anymore, because my brothers and I had spoken about it and had decided that we had to make her feel as comfortable as possible. The reason why I instructed that she got locked in the room last night was because I had been in the monster state last night and had been on the verge of losing control, so I had been unable to come out and speak to her. The only thing I could do at that moment was to ask that she get locked up till I could talk to her this morning.
I got to the sitting room and met my son and his nanny. She was reading a passage to him and he was listening attentively till he noticed my presence, then he was flying into my arms excitedly.
I let out a laugh as I scooped him up, ruffling his hair and nuzzling his jaw while he giggled and tried to shove my hand away from his head.
"Stop, dad!" He whined, small hands wrapped around my shoulders.
He looked nothing like me, but he had most of his mother's features. Although he didn't smell like me as well, he was still my son. A DNA test was carried out years ago and our blood matched. I loved him very much, since the moment he was born.
"Brian, you're supposed to not step out of a lesson even after seeing me." I reminded him halfheartedly and he let out a huff, his warm, watery scent mixing with mine.
"But I miss you, dad. We don't play together anymore." He pouted, a small frown across his face. He was three years old, but was actually way smarter than his age.
"We can play tonight, okay champ?" I suggested and he beamed happily before I set him down once again and he dutifully returned back to his nanny. I glanced around, not surprised that his mother wasn't here.
His mother was never present around him randomly, except whenever I was present, then she'd latch unto me like a leach. She was the worst mother ever and I regretted that drunken night that produced our son every day of my life. I don't regret my son, I'd never give him up for anything, but I definitely do regret who birthed him every damn time.
Adele and I spent a drunken night together, one which I couldn't even remember, but the next morning, we were in bed together, then weeks later, she wound up pregnant. I still believed she purposely got me drunk, crawled into my bed and fucking threw herself at me, but she always denied doing that so I stopped bringing that up.
I was walking through the compound of the palace when Adele sighted me. As soon as her face lit up, I cursed underneath my breath as she hurriedly made her way towards me. I held a hand out before she could press up against me like she always does.
"What do you want?" I asked flatly, leveling her with a cold look, one which she was always immune to.
"Can't I want to speak to my fiance?" She asked, lips in a pout and annoyance engulfed me at once.
"Get lost if you have nothing to say to me." I told her, and almost immediately, a sneer settled over her face, right before she folded her arms.
"Who's that bitch you brought back home last night?" She demanded, jealousy starkly painted across her face. I regarded her for a moment before scoffing.
"She's none of your concern, Adele." I informed her and attempted walking past her but she blocked my path again.
"But who is she? Why is she here?! This palace isn't a charity house, if she's homeless, leave her in the swamp or something!" She spat, sounding very worked up this time.
I pinched my nose for a moment from irritation before exhaling hard.
"Get lost, Adele." I snapped before walking past her again, and this time, she didn't follow.
"That little bitch you brought back here? I'm gonna make life hell for her, I promise you!" She yelled after me but I ignored her because I knew she was only bluffing.
