Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: New Information

The Thousand-Change Silkworm and the Sun God Butterfly—both evolutionary paths are difficult to pursue. However, they share a common requirement: the Thousand-Change Silkworm must reach the peak of Level Two.

The Thousand-Change Silkworm was Ye Bai's first contracted pet beast. As it grows stronger, so does Ye Bai, and his Eye of Insight ability improves correspondingly.

Pet beasts can strengthen themselves in two main ways: by defeating or killing other exotic beasts, or by consuming rare heavenly and earthly treasures. The more valuable the treasure, the more significant the improvement.

The intelligence system issued a warning: a rift in a secret realm will appear the day after tomorrow, and a large number of Ground Rats will emerge, threatening the world.

This will be a good opportunity to enhance the Thousand-Change Silkworm's strength.

By the way, Ye Bai hadn't checked today's intelligence update yet. Last night, he and Da Hui were kept awake by the screeches of the Thousand-Change Silkworm Demon. Even covering their ears didn't help.

Daily Intelligence Update

1. One year from now, an 8.0-magnitude earthquake will strike Guishan City in Yanxi Province, revealing a Level Four secret realm. This realm offers both high risk and high reward. A Level Four treasure, the Guishuo Fruit, will appear. Proceed with caution.

2. The nectar of the Sunflower King holds immense nutritional value. Feeding it to newborn or juvenile pets accelerates their growth. Sick or injured pets can stabilize their condition by consuming the nectar. Pet eggs with cracks can heal more quickly when soaked in it.

3. According to research, pet skill proficiency is divided into five stages: Beginner, Proficient, Advanced, Mastery, and Perfection. Upon reaching Mastery, new derivative skills may emerge.

4. The champion of the city-level Fengchu Cup will be awarded a Level Four Flame Crystal.

5. In one month, Shenhuang Technology will launch clinical trials for a newly developed Level Two Awakening Potion. Reports show this first batch of potions has shown the best results.

The Awakening Potion provides a massive energy boost, helping pet beasts break through bottlenecks—similar to foundation-building pills in cultivation.

If Ye Bai can get a bottle when his Sunflower advances, the results will be significantly improved, saving a Level Three Sun Stone.

Among all potions, Shenhuang Group's version is considered the most effective, with an 80% success rate—but it's also the most expensive, priced at nearly 200,000 Alliance Coins per bottle.

If the intelligence system is correct, Shenhuang has developed an even better version. Before they can release it, they need to conduct clinical trials.

Participants in the trials will receive the potion for free along with a generous reward.

Ye Bai considered registering the Thousand-Change Silkworm for the trial—provided it can reach the peak of Level One within a month.

---

Today's school schedule included a practical class. Ye Bai brought along his Thousand-Change Silkworm, who was still full of energy despite the sleepless night, to the school's training room.

Zhang Lingxue was already there, dressed in a combat suit. The Goddess of Light Butterfly floated behind her. She wore a diamond-studded headband and had her hair braided on one side—giving off the air of a graceful yet commanding older sister.

"Today's lesson is simple," she began. "We'll be learning how to become proper pet masters."

"Each of you has signed a contract with your pet beast."

"The first contracted beast is your natal pet, and its strength is directly linked to yours."

"The stronger your natal pet, the more powerful you become as a pet master."

"Humans and their pets are complementary beings."

Zhang Lingxue gestured to the Light Goddess Butterfly. The radiant creature flapped its wings and perched on her shoulder.

"When we form a contract, we inherit one random skill from our pet beast."

"The skill I inherited is Healing Light from the Goddess of Light Butterfly. You should all take a moment to connect with your internal pet space and find out what skill you've obtained."

She continued, "Also, an announcement. After discussion with school leadership, this year's Fengchu Cup contestants will be selected internally."

"To ensure fairness, we'll be using a defense-style competition."

"Our school has eight arenas. Contestants will be selected via live broadcast."

"The top three from these eight will go on to represent our school in both individual and team categories at the Fengchu Cup."

"Each contestant can challenge only once per arena. If they win, they defend that arena. If they lose, they can challenge another arena."

"This event will start in one week."

Her sharp gaze swept across the classroom.

"Yes! My little fireball appeared!" a male student exclaimed as a palm-sized flame formed in his hand—only to fizzle out moments later.

Another girl sighed, "I summoned a water orb… I guess it'd be useful in the wild."

Ye Bai tried too. He opened his palm—his hand turned white as jade. No silken threads, no visible strength.

Maybe he inherited the hardening ability of the Thousand-Change Silkworm—an ability not particularly useful to Ye Bai.

Just then, a figure caught his eye: a well-built Boxing Rabbit with symmetrical muscles. In one hand it held a ruby carrot, and in the other, a sapphire one. It alternated bites, chewing steadily.

It wore black sunglasses and had a thick golden chain around its neck.

Give it a scar and a tougher expression, and it would look like a street thug collecting protection money.

Surprisingly, after following Li Chen, the once-scrawny Boxing Rabbit had grown both in strength and stature—now standing taller than average.

"Ye Bai," Li Chen said with a grin, "I'm looking forward to the Fengchu Cup."

"I want to see if my Boxing Rabbit's fists are stronger than your Thousand-Change Silkworm's defenses."

"If I lose, I'll cover your silkworm's meals for the whole semester."

"If you lose, just apologize to my Boxing Rabbit."

Li Chen smiled warmly, like a laughing Buddha.

Boxing Rabbit's optimism had changed Li Chen's outlook on life.

"No problem," Ye Bai replied.

He had been worried about the silkworm's food costs. Since someone offered to pay, why not?

Besides, the worst outcome would be a public apology—totally worth the bet.

Ye Bai knew that Li Chen was generous and dependable—unlike the sneaky He Qingyuan.
