Chapter 11 - Obtaining New Techniques

The number of demons that Bob killed in each level of the soldier realm reduced, especially after encountering the situation where he did not have enough storage to put in the demon crystals.

So, for the low level demons that he encountered, he only killed a few, and completely ignored the rest. This was to make sure that the space would not be occupied by the low level demon crystals, leading to the high level crystals lacking somewhere to be kept.

In total, this transaction led to Bob receiving a total of 33,200 star coins. This was the highest amount of money that Bob had ever received. Even the old man who had previously adopted him had never had such a huge amount of money before.

Killing the demons and acquiring demon crystals was one of the best methods of making money. It was just that the dangers involved in hunting for the demons was high.

It might be true that high level demons would mostly be found far away from the strongholds, but there would be several occasions where high level demons would venture close to the strongholds.

In such a situation, it is always because the demons were preparing to launch an attack on that particular stronghold. And in case a person was unlucky to encounter a high-level demon that they could not deal with, they would end up dead.

So, despite this being the quickest method of earning money, it was extremely dangerous. Additionally, this was definitely something that consumed a lot of money as well.

Completely different from Bob who wanted to acquire Common tier techniques and skills, others would always go for high level skills and techniques. And of course, the higher the level of the skill, the higher the price.

But more than that, equipment also consumed quite a considerable amount of money. So, after selling the demon crystals that they would have gathered, most of the people would end up spending more than half of the money that they would have earned.

The money was given to Bob, but not in cash, instead, he received a card. This was a card almost like the one that could be found on earth, something like a debit card. It was just that this card represented different values.

The card that Bob had received was for those that had less than 100,000 star coins. The origin of this card was an organization called Glidex that was functioning like a bank.

It was just that this organization did not only deal with star coins, but it also dealt with other things such as weapons, skill scrolls and so on. As long as it was anything related to the ruins and demons, this organization was involved.

The way that the card functioned was that, there were many branches of this organization all over the stronghold. If a person wanted to spend the money, they would go to that organization, hand over the card, and they would be given the star coins.

The majority of the branches were located in the market areas, making it easier for people to move around and acquire their money. Additionally, the risks involved in most of the market areas where the branches of the organization were located was extremely low.

Bob did not immediately leave after receiving the card that had his money inside. Instead, he observed the card first. Just by injecting his arcane energy, a number would be displayed on top of the card.

This number was obviously the balance that was contained within the card. And currently, the card that Bob had was bronze in color, the lowest level of cards offered by the Glidex organization.

"I would like to make a few purchases. I want to purchase a good weapon, together with an armor, and a few Common tier skill scrolls." Bob said to the attendant that was attending to him.

The attendant immediately nodded. Then, he headed to another side of the shop, before bringing back a small book. Bob took the book that was handed to him, realizing that it contained the items that were being sold within the shop.

After going through them, Bob realized something. It seemed that high level equipment was expensive. In order for him to be able to obtain a good spear, he was required to spend over 20,000 star coins. And, even though this spear was good, to Bob, it would not last for long.

So after thinking for a while, Bob decided to give up on purchasing a new spear. Because the best spear that he could get was this one that cost over 20,000 star coins. Any other that was better than this, one that was ranked in the uncommon category, it was priced at over 100,000 star coins.

That was an amount that Bob could not afford. And, it seemed that those that had reached the captain realm usually used this kind of weapon. So, Bob decided that he would purchase at least a Rare tier weapon.

But even though he was not going to buy a weapon, Bob decided to purchase a storage equipment. This was something that he could not avoid. After all, how was he supposed to carry the demon crystals back if he had nowhere to carry them?

It was just that the price for the lowest level storage item was quite high. The price was at 28,540 star coins. And according to the description, the storage bracelet could not be bound to an owner.

This implied that if someone else got the storage bracelet, they could access anything that was contained within it. So, losing a bracelet that contained his wealth would lead to him losing the wealth together with the bracelet.

As for the space contained within the bracelet, it was only 1m³. The space was not big, but it was definitely bigger than the bag that Bob had previously used. Additionally, it was not as conspicuous as the bag.

But apart from that, Bob wanted to purchase a skill scroll for unarmed combat. This was a common tier technique. But with the presence of the system, Bob could advance it to the Epic tier.

On the book, the price was clearly stated. It would cost a total of 1,600 star coins. The price was higher than the Piercing Thrust skill that he had obtained before at a price of 1,200. But in comparison to weapons and armor, the price of the common tier skills and techniques was quite low.

And apart from this technique, Bob decided to obtain another skill scroll, Basic Spear Wielding. This one was going to cost 1,650 star coins. This was going to enable him to be able to use the spear better, without depending on the skill continuously.

Bob did not want to purchase too many Common tier skill scrolls. After all, if a person suddenly began purchasing low level skill scrolls, this was definitely going to raise some questions.

It was a pity that Bob did not find any skill scroll that would enable him to be able to hide his power level. Even if he could not hide it, it would be better if he could just lie about his power level.

But unfortunately, it seemed that it was quite difficult to find such a skill scroll within this shop. So, after making the necessary payments, Bob received the balance in the form of star coins, before he left the shop.

After leaving this shop, Bob did not immediately leave the market. Instead, he continued venturing into different shops and stalls, trying to see if he could find any skill or technique that could hide his power level.

Currently, his balance was 1,483 star coins. This amount, Bob was not sure if it was going to be sufficient to purchase such a skill, but it would be good enough if he could find where he could purchase it. Then, he would just go and bring back those demon crystals that he had buried away.

A while back, as he was going through the book that had been provided to him by the attendant, he went through the prices of the demon crystals. Level 1 demon crystals cost 10 star coins, level 2 at 50, level 3 at 100, and level 4 at 200. It seemed that after level two, the price would continuously double, until level 9 where the price would not double but instead increase by 2,800 star coins.

After going around for quite a while, and not finding what he wanted, Bob decided to go back home. He did not directly ask about the availability of such a skill, as that would definitely raise a few questions.

Bob was being extremely cautious at this point, not because he had enemies out there, but simply because he did not want any unnecessary trouble. There was a possibility that if he asked, he would not encounter any problem, but Bob was unwilling to risk that.

Even though he was disappointed, Bob thought of something else. If it was that there was no any Common tier techniques or skill that matched his requirement, maybe techniques and skills of a higher level were the ones that possessed those traits.

So, Bob decided to go back, upgrade his power level, and he would venture out on the following day. Currently, it was already in the afternoon, counting the time that he had spent outside the stronghold, and in the market. It had been slightly over 6 hours since he left his house.

The moment that he got back, Bob closed the door, sat on the bed after setting everything else aside, before taking out the skill scrolls that contained the techniques that he wanted to learn.

As he tore the first scroll, a beam of light suddenly emerged, before merging into his head.
