Chapter 13 - Training center

I didn't think that I'd resume training just two days after the affinity test. It's certainly a good thing for me because I want to master this magic of a thing as soon as possible.

I'm headed to the training center, it's just three buildings away from the main residence of the family.

I'm walking on foot, passing by some maids, and other workers. Then I look around the compound.

I hadn't thought about it before, but this compound is quite big. Although it's more like an estate with many buildings.

I continue walking.

The Patriarch declared that I should start training immediately. It must be because of the light show my affinity detection caused.

It's been discovered that I have an affinity with all four elements, a never-before-seen occurrence. That means I can proficiently control all elements including fire if I start gathering 'mana'. And the strange thing is that... My affinity with all the elements is high, really, really high.

"Well... I'm excited though, I can't wait to unbox what's in store for me."

I finally reached the training center. It's a big, tall building that's made with stone and painted with red pai... Typical. The Flameworths are so obsessed with the color red.

I see many children, some my age, some are older than me, but they're still kids, some are teenagers. They're all dressed in blue uniforms, walking in and out of the center.

I'm dressed in a blue uniform myself, and now I know where those kids I often saw dressed in this same blue uniform were coming from...

Some kids are being dropped off by their parents and guardians, some noble kids are being dropped off with horse-drawn carriages.

I walk into the center.

I'm headed to class two. It's a class for kids who started training last year after they finished their affinity test. I'm headed there because apparently, Alexander thought that I'm too much of a genius to learn with kids that are the same age as me.

Even the class one block is empty because the trainees, who are the new batch of scouted fire affinity kids are supposed to resume next week.

The training is supposed to last for about ten years, which means there are ten different classes. When they graduate from class 10, the nobles head to the imperial academy in the capital of the empire to further their education and graduate with a mage certificate, making them recognized in the empire as an official mage. But the kids who aren't nobles and can't get into the academy are further raised by the family as apprentice mages, and through missions from the empire, they slowly gather merit and obtain a mage certificate from the empire, making them true mages.

Truly, being a commoner is hard in this world...

I arrive at class two.

As I walk inside, I see three long rolls of wooden desks that can each fit three people. There are about fifty desks on each roll.

The classroom has an air of... Mischievousness around it as I feel the gaze of about ten five-year-old children on me.

I pretend like they don't exist and I sit at the first desk on the third row, so that I can see the board perfectly. The board is on the wall at the front of the classroom, wide, lengthy and white.

"Hey Jonah, isn't that Young Master James's brother? The trash illegitimate bastard who caused a stir during his affinity detection test?"

"Yeah, that's him."

I hear the voices of some kids behind me.

"I say we go greet him, what do you think?"

"No. Are you a fool? He's a Flameworth, do you want to die that much? A Flameworth is still a Flameworth no matter what. And the fact that he has survived this far and even skipped one class should speak something."

O-oh, you're right! Almost fucked myself up haha"

"Let's just avoid him"

"Great idea"

I smile an emotionless smile.

My expression is unreadable.

I shake my head with a smirk.

Smart brats. I wanted to use you guys to make an example to others and avoid the troublesome bullying of the little kids. After all, I hate beating up children.

But they dodged the 'bully mess with protag, protag whoops their ass' trope.

That kid Jonas.. he's a smart one.

I don't even know what he looks like because I decided not to look at them. But I don't care.

I rest my head on the desk.

Maybe it's because I came early, by 6:30, slowly, other kids in their blue uniforms came into the class, and now it's 9:00 and we're waiting for the first instructor to arrive.

I shouldn't have come so early. I've done nothing but sit my ass down alone for over 3 hours!

And finally...

Slam!

The instructor slams the door to the wall and walks Inside like they did nothing wrong.

But wait, are they going to teach 'class two' things? Even when I don't know the basics or anything? I don't even know how to use mana! No, let me calm down, maybe they'll make a special exception for m-

"Continuing from where we stopped yesterday.."
