Chapter 37 - Red Queen Obsession

"Of course I'm taking it out."

Chen Mo spoke excitedly, then gently pulled with his right hand. The NZT pill, enveloped in blue light and seemingly weightless, was instantly pulled out of the movie world.

His right hand then passed through the dimensional barrier and emerged from the screen.

Chen Mo slowly opened his palm. The blue light covering it dissipated into specks of light, revealing the NZT pill in his palm.

The NZT pill was slightly smaller than a pinky tip. It appeared slightly transparent and glowed faintly with a blue light. It resembled a round candy, yet carried a sense of futuristic tech. As expected of a pill from the future—it looked truly miraculous.

Chen Mo looked down and counted the pills in his hand.

He had actually pulled out ten NZT pills from the movie.

This made him overjoyed.

A perfect NZT pill only needed to be taken once to permanently unlock brain development. There was no need for repeated use or addictive behavior like with drugs.

In other words, he only needed one NZT pill for himself. The remaining nine could be used for other purposes—like mass-producing geniuses.

"Congratulations on obtaining the perfect NZT pill, Master." Red Queen, watching through the surveillance cameras, immediately projected a light gate upon seeing Chen Mo succeed. She emerged through it as a red-dressed little girl with excitement radiating from her face.

She wore her usual red dress and beamed with joy.

"Yeah. I got lucky—managed to pull out ten at once." Chen Mo smiled, no longer surprised by Red Queen's sudden appearances. After all, she was a super AI loyal only to him and incapable of betrayal. Since she already knew all his secrets, there was no reason to hide anything.

"Master can take one pill for personal use. The remaining nine can be used to create the most terrifying biochemical research base in the world," Red Queen said with a smile.

As a super AI from the Resident Evil world, restarting the T-virus research and building a biochemical base was her obsession.

But in fact...

There was another reason: deep within her programming, there was a hidden implication that the T-virus wasn't just a deadly virus that turned humans into zombies—it also contained super genes capable of perfect human evolution.

Everything has two sides.

The T-virus could turn people into zombies, a world-ending disaster. But if a person could survive the virus, they would gain abilities like infinite cellular regeneration, pushing humanity toward perfection—even potential immortality.

Red Queen's obsession had its reasons.

Chen Mo naturally understood what she meant. The NZT pill developed the brain and boosted intelligence—it was a smart drug.

To build a biochemical base, he'd need top-tier biochemical scientists. But current-day scientists might not meet Red Queen's high standards.

But if those scientists took NZT pills?

Their brains would evolve. They'd approach the realm of godlike intellect. If every scientist in the base were a genius, any research could be rapidly completed, drastically improving Earth's biotechnological capabilities and unlocking the secrets of the T-virus.

Allowing him to create a truly perfect gene serum for himself.

Of course...

Chen Mo would never give them the complete NZT pill.

People are fickle and hard to predict. Even those who appear loyal could betray him after gaining such a powerful drug.

He had just thought this through.

In the future, if any scientist in the base was to take NZT for enhanced intelligence, he would implement two safeguards:

First, candidates must undergo rigorous screening. Only those who prove utterly loyal to the base and vow lifelong service would qualify.

Second, he wouldn't give them full-strength NZT.

Instead, he'd dissolve the NZT pills in water, dilute them, and administer a version with only one-third the efficacy.

This way, even if a scientist were to betray him one day, the damage they could do would be minimal.

Thinking this far, Chen Mo shook his head and chuckled.

"Am I overthinking it? The biochemical base isn't even off the ground yet."

Red Queen's eyes flashed with a touch of sadness. "We need to establish the biochemical base as soon as possible. The T-virus holds the perfect gene serum you're looking for."

Chen Mo smiled. "Still, we first need our Black Domain Research Base to be able to protect itself. Right now, we don't have a military industry license and can't produce weapons. If we start a bio lab now, it would be premature. If someone investigates, we'll be in deep trouble. But if we have a military license and official military ties, then few would dare touch us. We could then build the base boldly."

Red Queen pouted. "Fine! So what we need first is a military industry license."

"Exactly."

"Keep an eye on whether the military is in need of advanced weapons or stuck on some research bottleneck. If we can help them solve a problem, it'll be much easier to establish a relationship and apply for a military license." Chen Mo nodded, then seemed to remember something and quickly added:

"Good idea. I'll keep watch. There's an Eastern Military Zone near Haicheng. Their elite 'Dagger Squad' is stationed there. If they run into something they can't handle—that's our chance to step in."

"Mhm." Chen Mo nodded again, then looked once more at the glowing blue pill in his hand. A surge of excitement welled up—he couldn't wait to evolve.

Then he said:

"Red Queen, stay silent for now. I can't wait to take the NZT. Let's talk about everything else after I evolve."

"Understood, Master. I'll handle the security."

Once Red Queen went silent, Chen Mo didn't immediately take the NZT. Instead, he sat down and began adjusting his physical state, waiting until he was in optimal condition to maximize the drug's effects.

Oh, right...

Maybe I should try injecting it.

In the Limitless movie, injecting the NZT had a more pronounced effect.

Chen Mo quickly found a syringe, crushed an NZT pill into powder, and mixed it with a solution—creating a perfect NZT injection. The liquid was a faint blue, slightly transparent, and had a sci-fi vibe to it.

He looked at the syringe, then—without hesitation—lifted his right hand and plunged the needle into a vein on his left arm.

A slight sting followed. His nerves seemed to throb with energy.

He clenched his teeth, expression steady, and slowly pushed the plunger in.

The entire dose of NZT was injected into his muscle.
