Chapter 72 - Chapter 72

Ethan stared at the phone call screen, frowning deeply, full of confusion.

Why did Andrew hang up the phone?

What was going on with Andrew?

Hearing that fiery tone, it felt like it could burn someone.

What did I do to upset this guy again?

Ethan kept thinking about it, but no matter how he thought, he couldn't figure it out.

From Andrew's attitude, he seemed not to want to deal with this matter anymore.

Forget it, I'll just ask around for Katherine's number and contact her myself.

Ethan didn't care about anything else at that moment. After several connections, he finally got Katherine's phone number from the hospital.

Looking at the numbers, Ethan took a deep breath and pressed the dial button.

At that moment, Katherine had just parked her car downstairs at home. Her phone suddenly rang.

She casually took out her phone and saw an unknown number on the screen. Without hesitation, she pressed the hang-up button.

But before she could put the phone back in her bag, it rang again urgently, as if it would not stop until she answered.

Katherine frowned slightly, feeling a little annoyed, but still pressed the answer button. Her voice was cold and distant, "Hello, who is this?"

"Hello, are you Dr. Katherine? I'm Ethan. We met once at Dark Night, and we accidentally bumped into each other. Do you remember?"

Ethan's voice came from the phone, warm and sincere, trying to ease the awkwardness at the start of the call.

Katherine's mind immediately went back to that night.

"Hello Mr. Ethan. May I ask what this is about?" Katherine's tone was neutral, polite but distant.

"Dr. Katherine, I'm sorry to bother you, but I saw the news online about Xiehe Hospital, and I was really angry!"

"You are the angel in white who saves lives. How can you be slandered and falsely accused like that? It's just not right."

Ethan's voice raised a little, full of indignation.

Katherine listened quietly, saying nothing.

Ethan continued, "Dr. Katherine, don't worry. I truly respect medical workers and am your loyal fan."

"This matter won't just end like this. Those troublemakers will definitely pay the price."

His words sounded like he was ready to fight for her.

Katherine secretly doubted him and thought to herself: We only met once, why is this guy so passionate?

But she still politely replied, "Mr. Ethan, I appreciate your kindness. The hospital will handle this matter properly. No need for you to worry."

Ethan was not willing to stop and quickly added, "Dr. Katherine, don't be polite with me."

"We have some connection. I know people in the police station. I can have someone keep an eye on the progress there to make sure they don't let it slide."

"Mr. Ethan, I understand your good intentions, but it's really not necessary."

"I trust the police. They will act fairly."

"Thank you again. If there is nothing else, I will hang up now."

Before Ethan could say more, the call was already ended.

He pressed his lips tightly, thinking this woman had the same attitude as Andrew.

They both liked to hang up the phone.

Katherine didn't know much about Andrew's friends, so she didn't realize Ethan was his good friend.

She didn't take Ethan's call seriously. From their one meeting, she already knew Ethan was not an ordinary person.

Maybe he was part of Andrew's circle.

Those people, she only wanted to stay away from.

Katherine went home, didn't eat dinner, took a hot shower, and lay down on the bed.

After a day of running around, she was completely exhausted.

Lately, Katherine clearly felt unusually tired, not sure if it was because she hadn't rested well.

Before long, Katherine dozed off, feeling drowsy.

Because of Andrew and Katherine's divorce, even though Andrew had been staying at the old house these days, Old Master Zhou refused to see him.

Wherever Andrew was, Old Master Zhou was not.

Even meals were sent by servants directly to Andrew's room.

Andrew knew Old Master Zhou was still angry because of the divorce.

The next day, Assistant Ryan drove to the old house to pick Andrew up for work.

Before going to the company, Andrew said to Butler Li, "Uncle Lin, I think Grandpa's health is fine now. I won't come back often so he doesn't get angrier when he sees me."

"But take good care of him. If anything happens, call me."

Butler Li nodded, "Alright, young master. Don't blame Old Master. He treats Doctor Shen like his own granddaughter. Your sudden divorce is hard for him to accept."

"After some time, Old Master will understand."

Andrew's expression was hard to read as he answered, "Mm, thanks, Uncle Lin. I'm going to work."

Even in July in Jing City, the morning light was cool as it shone on the car.

Andrew got in with long legs.

Assistant Ryan sat steadily in the driver's seat, started the car, and drove smoothly toward the company.

As the car merged into the main road traffic, Assistant Ryan glanced at the rearview mirror and carefully spoke, "Boss, Old Master took action. He sent people to the police station to give word and make arrangements."

"With Old Master handling it, the police process should speed up. Doctor Shen's justice should come soon."

Andrew seemed not to hear this, still focused on the files. After a while, he casually said, "Katherine is so capable and resourceful, does she really need others to help?"

Though his words sounded indifferent, only he knew how tightly his fingers gripped the paper, showing hidden unrest.

Thinking of Katherine, Andrew couldn't help but recall the scene of her with Joshua at the Twilight Club. The memory ignited the anger he had held down for a long time, burning fiercely and clouding his reason.

Assistant Ryan silently thought, Boss's mouth is like frozen ice this early. Did he have ice cubes for breakfast?

He wanted to say more but instead changed the topic, "Boss, may I ask, did Katherine's family know about your marriage before?"

Andrew frowned slightly, his file flipping paused for a few seconds. He said coldly, "We're divorced now. Whether they know or not, what difference does it make?"

His tone was flat but carried a strange distance that pushed others away.

Assistant Ryan seemed not to catch the signal and kept talking, "Yesterday when I got some documents, I overheard people talking. Katherine's family is rushing to arrange blind dates for her."

"To be exact, they want to match her with the Jiang family in Jing City. They want to connect her with the Jiang family's young master through marriage."

Assistant Ryan pretended to focus on driving but kept watching Andrew's expression from the corner of his eye.

Just as expected, Andrew's hand froze flipping through the files. The edges were wrinkled from how hard he gripped them.

Though he tried to keep calm on the outside, he forced himself to say, "We are divorced. If she wants to date or marry someone else, that has nothing to do with me."

But behind the file, his fingers tightened involuntarily until his knuckles turned white.

Assistant Ryan shook his head silently, Boss really is like a cooked duck that won't let go, so stubborn.

If this keeps going like this, if things get worse and beyond repair, even if you beg for forgiveness, Katherine might not give you a good face.

Of course, he only thought this in his mind and didn't say a word.

Seeing Andrew like this, Assistant Ryan cleared his throat and wisely said, "Since you're not interested, I won't say more."

No sooner had he finished speaking than Andrew slammed the file into the corner of the seat with a sharp smack. His face was dark and gloomy like a coming storm.

Katherine, you are really popular.

Marrying into the Jiang family?

I want to see if you two can actually make it.
