Darcy was eating lunch alone in a corner of the cafeteria. She didn't want to sit with Damien and his new group of friends. She had never been socially successful anyway.
"How foolish I am! I thought things would be different here," she whispered, lowering her head so that her blonde hair covered her eyes.
Just then, a boy with neatly combed chocolate-brown hair and sparkling emerald green eyes approached her. Darcy recognized him from her class.
Unfortunately, she couldn't recall his name. The boy sat next to her.
"My name is Lucas Black. Why are you sitting alone, Darcy?"
Darcy was momentarily surprised. It felt strange for someone to remember her name, especially in this new town.
"I don't know, Lucas. Maybe because I'm a social disaster..."
Lucas smiled bitterly. "Ah, Darcy. Aren't we all? Why do you think Nicholas is my only friend?" He paused and looked away. "Also, you're the only girl I've talked to since middle school."
Lucas clenched his fist. At that moment, something unexpected happened. Darcy held Lucas's clenched hand. "So, we're not alone? Can I hang out with you guys from now on? Of course, if Nicholas doesn't mind?"
Lucas, with a mix of surprise and joy, said, "I think he'd be happy! After all, weirdos should support each other, right?"
Just as Darcy was about to say something, an albino girl approached them. She was quite thin and short. "Hey witch, I see you've already made friends with one of the murderers' kids who just moved to town(!)"
Darcy's face turned red with anger as she stood up and confronted the girl. "Look at you! A monster in human form! How can you accuse someone of being a monster because of their parents?! But of course, the real monster is you, right? After all, slandering people you know nothing about is pure MONSTROSITY!!!!" Darcy grabbed Lucas's wrist and bumped into the girl as they exited the cafeteria.
They entered an empty classroom, and Darcy angrily kicked one of the front desks.
"What does that short little dwarf think she is?!" she shouted.
Lucas cautiously asked, "Hey, Darcy? Are you okay?"
"NO! I won't stay silent anymore because when I keep quiet so that no one gets hurt, I end up breaking apart, Lucas! Do you understand me now? I'm so unstable!"
Lucas hugged Darcy. "Believe me, you're not unstable. By the way, you should be careful with that girl. She's the sheriff's daughter, Mia. She's very good at lying, but she was right about one thing... I am a witch..."
Darcy's eyes widened.
Lucas held Darcy's hands, and they were surrounded by bright blue lights. Then they slowly began to rise from the ground.
"Wow, Lucas! This is so cool. You can levitate!" Darcy exclaimed with joy.
"Don't you think I'm a cursed demon?" Lucas asked in amazement.
As they gently descended, Darcy replied, "No, why would I think that? I've been researching these kinds of things all my life!" she said happily.
Thus, the seeds of a friendship that would last forever began to sprout.
The two young people, unaware of what the future held, were engrossed in conversation. They sat next to each other in the classes after lunch and said goodbye after school ended.
Darcy and Damien didn't keep their father, Alaric, waiting too long and got into the car. On the way to Blackwood Manor, no one spoke. The only sound in the car was the radio.
Damien occasionally gave Darcy strange looks. Whatever it was, he clearly didn't want to discuss it in front of their father. So Darcy didn't ask what was going on until they got home.
When the manor came into view, Mr. Throne drove faster, as if he had something very important to attend to...
The twins got out of the car and entered the manor. Damien went to Darcy's room to talk to her. He nervously threw himself onto a chair. "Darcy? Please don't be friends with that Lucas guy," he said directly.
Darcy suddenly started speaking angrily. "You can't interfere with my friends! Lucas is my friend! Do you want me to be alone like I was at my old school?!"
Damien took a deep breath. "Look, I've heard bad things about him. Okay?"
"I don't need your protection, Damien! Let me gain experience."
Damien angrily said, "Do whatever you want from now on! If possible, don't let too many people know you're my sister! Because... I'm ashamed of a freak like you!" He slammed the door behind him as he left.
Darcy began to cry. Her silent tears burned her heart. When Maddison and Max came through the wall and saw Darcy crying, they quietly approached her and tried to make her laugh.
Although Darcy smiled for a moment, a deep wound had been opened in her heart.
