Chapter 20 - Chapter 19

Kaiser

I'd like to say that things were going pretty well for the past two weeks.

Dave arrived from Italy a week ago and as for my spicy pasta, it was heavenly.

Shows why pasta originated from Italy.

Dave told me every single detail about Italy that it felt like I went there myself.

As for Rhyssa, just the mere thought of her turned me on.

I took out my phone to call her, it had been ages since I heard her voice (two days ago) by the way.

She answered on the first ring.

 "Hi Kaiser" She said,

"Hi"

"What are you doing?" I asked because it seemed like she was struggling with something.

"I'm trying to cut open this damn coconuts" She grunted and I chuckled.

"Don't laugh at me, it's really hard" she whined.

Yeah ofcourse, because of her, something else was hard right now.

"I should have let them handle it in the grocery store"

"Or you can keep it and after work, I can come over and help you with it" I offered

"That would be nice Kaiser...except that I need it right now for the meal I'm preparing" She said,

"What are you making?" I asked,

I didn't know much food that required coconut to prepare.

 "Coconut rice" She said

What in the world was coconut rice?!

"It's an African dish that I wanted to try out because it looked so good" She explained

 Ohh

"Well is it okay if I help?" I asked,

"Yesss, I have no idea what I'm doing" She blurted out like that was what she had wanted to say from the start.

"After work, I'll drive straight to your house and we can make your coconut rice together" I said and I was sure she smiled through the phone.

Now I couldn't wait to see Rhyssa.

We've been busy with our respective jobs for the past week so we haven't had the chance to see eachother and I always looked forward to seeing her.

After work, I walked towards my car and sped off.

Reaching Rhyssa's house, I stopped at the door and knocked.

She opened the door and her hands wrapped around my neck in an embrace, her sweet scent filling my senses.

 Then she led me inside.

"My kitchen's a mess" She warned in a giggle.

"We can fix that" I said, smiling as I took off my coat and rolled up my sleeves.

Rhyssa gave me the knife and with minimum difficulty, I was able to cut through the coconuts and Rhyssa took them to wash.

As soon as she turned the tap on and was about to wash the coconuts, she flinched under the running water.

 "Hey, what's wrong?" I asked

"Nothing" She lied and I grabbed her hand.

She had a slightly deep cut on her left thumb, it had probably happened when she was trying to cut open the coconuts earlier.

"It's nothing" She said, snatching her hand from mine.

"Dammit, ofcourse it's nothing" I said sarcastically and took her out of the kitchen to treat her injury and get it covered to avoid it getting infected.

"Where's your first aid box?" I asked and she turned towards her room coming back with it.

After cleaning the injury with Hydrogen peroxide, I disinfected it with methylated spirit then wrapped a bandage around it then calculating, I placed a kiss on it and her cheeks flushed red.

"I'm going to be doing the cutting" I said sternly and she nodded.

So as I cut the vegetables, she mixed some of the ingredients.

Then she watched me marinate the chicken.

A couple of hours later, the coconut rice was ready, thanks to YouTube and damn it tasted sooo good as Rhyssa had said.

Africans were so talented, I'd give them that.

After the meal, I and Rhyssa did the dishes, actually I made her sit on the counter as I did them myself so she could yap about how her day went.

I loved it when she yapped about random stuff.

"What's that on your wrist?" She asked and I looked at my wrist.

 "Nothing" I quickly said.

They were scars from self harm and I didn't like it when people saw them.

 "Kaiser..."

"I said it's nothing" I said and I realised I had raised my voice slightly at her.

It was more silent than a graveyard after that and I hated it.

I finished with the dishes and cleaning up and took my coat as she watched and I regretted making the whole atmosphere tense between us.

"I'm sorry" I said softly to her as she tried to access me.

"Are you okay?" She asked with concern-filled eyes and I nodded.

I really wanted to walk towards her and hold her face in my palms and kiss her worry away to assure her that I was fine but I didn't.

I pocketed my car keys and left.
