The cruise ship, a behemoth of fun and relaxation, finally docked, disgorging its passengers onto the bustling pier. Among them were Gilgamesh, a trainer with an insatiable hunger for new Pokémon, and his girlfriend, Misty, a water-type specialist with a healthy dose of common sense.
"Alright, Misty, this is it!" Gilgamesh exclaimed, his eyes gleaming with anticipation as they stepped onto solid ground. "I've got a good feeling about this town. I can just smell a new Pokémon waiting for me!"
Misty, ever the pragmatist, raised an eyebrow. "You always 'smell' a new Pokémon, Gil. Let's just hope it's not another Pidgey."
Their destination was Lavender Town, a place notorious for its eerie atmosphere and, more specifically, its haunted tower. Gilgamesh, of course, was thrilled by the prospect. Misty, not so much.
As they approached the town, a chill seemed to settle in the air, despite the sunny day. The buildings were older, the streets quieter, and a faint, mournful wail seemed to drift on the breeze. Gilgamesh practically skipped. Misty shivered.
"Okay, so here's the plan,"
Gilgamesh announced, pointing dramatically towards the looming Pokémon Tower. "We hit the tower. I'm telling you, Misty, that's where the good stuff is. Ghost-types, maybe even something super rare!"
Misty eyed the tower, a grimace forming on her face. "Gilgamesh, are you serious? That place gives me the creeps just looking at it.
Remember what happened last time we went into a 'haunted' place? We almost got slimed by a Gastly!"
Gilgamesh waved off her concerns. "Details, details! Besides, you're not going in. You can stay at the Pokémon Center. You know, re-stock on supplies, maybe catch up on some fishing?" He offered a charming, if slightly disingenuous, smile.
Misty narrowed her eyes, knowing full well he was trying to butter her up. "And leave you to get possessed by some ancient spirit? No thanks. But… fine. I'll stay at the Pokémon Center. But if you're not back by dinner, I'm coming in after you, and I'm bringing my Gyarados."
Gilgamesh grinned, "Deal! Wish me luck!" And with a final wave, he set off towards the ominous Pokémon Tower, leaving Misty to sigh and head for the comforting, brightly lit doors of the Pokémon Center.
Gilgamesh, his heart pounding with a mix of excitement and a touch of trepidation, pushed open the creaking doors of the Pokémon Tower. A cold gust of wind swept past him, carrying with it the faint scent of dust and something else… something ancient and spectral.
"Alright, Pokémon Tower," he
whispered, his voice echoing in the gloom. "Let's see what you've got."
As he ventured deeper into the tower, his Trainer's System, a sleek, wrist-mounted device, suddenly whirred to life. A faint green light pulsed on its screen, and a synthesized voice cut through the silence.
SYSTEM: HIGH POTENTIAL POKÉMON DETECTED. PROBABILITY OF ENCOUNTER: EXTREMELY HIGH.
Gilgamesh's grin widened. This was what he lived for! "Hmm," he mused, tapping the screen. "Tell me about this Pokémon, System."
The System's display flickered, then an image materialized: a small, almost ethereal dragon-like creature with a wide, triangular head and a long, translucent body. It looked both adorable and strangely unsettling.
SYSTEM: POKÉMON IDENTIFIED: DREEPY. TYPE: DRAGON/GHOST. POTENTIAL AT FULL EVOLUTION: LOW LEGENDARY.
Gilgamesh's eyes nearly popped out of his head. "A Dreepy? A Dragon/Ghost type? And 'low legendary' when fully evolved?" He let out a joyous whoop that briefly seemed to dispel the tower's oppressive atmosphere. "That's great! This is exactly what I was hoping for!"
He practically skipped through the dimly lit corridors, his focus now
solely on finding this elusive Dreepy. The spooky sounds and chilling drafts that would have sent others running only fueled his determination. A 'low legendary' Dragon/Ghost type… the
possibilities were endless! He imagined its final evolution, a powerful spectral dragon, soaring through the skies, its might a testament to his training.
He knew he had to be careful,
though. Ghost-types were tricky, and a Dragon/Ghost combination meant it would be both elusive and potentially very strong. He pulled out a few Poké Balls, checking their integrity, and prepared himself for the hunt. The Pokémon Tower was no longer just a haunted landmark; it was a treasure trove, and the Dreepy was his prize.
The hunt for the Dreepy was more challenging than Gilgamesh anticipated. The little Dragon/Ghost type was surprisingly nimble, flitting through the ancient artifacts and crumbling furniture of the tower with an ethereal grace. It was like chasing a shadow, constantly disappearing and reappearing in unexpected places.
"Come on, you little rascal!" Gilgamesh panted, dodging a spectral chair that seemed to wobble menacingly. His Charmeleon, ever loyal, let out a frustrated growl, its tail flame flickering as it tried to keep pace.
For what felt like an eternity, but was probably closer to ten minutes, the chase continued. The Dreepy would dart behind a broken gravestone, then reappear on a dusty chandelier, its large, curious eyes watching Gilgamesh with a mix of wariness and playful defiance.
"Charmeleon, use Ember!" Gilgamesh commanded, hoping to corner it.
Charmeleon unleashed a burst of small flames, forcing the Dreepy to retreat from its perch. It phased through a wall, reappearing further down the corridor. Gilgamesh gritted his teeth.
This was tougher than most gym battles!
Finally, after a particularly daring leap over a collapsed staircase, Gilgamesh saw his opportunity. The Dreepy, momentarily disoriented, hovered in mid-air.
"Now, Charmeleon, use Dragon Claw!" he shouted.
Charmeleon lunged forward, its claws glowing with draconic energy. The Dreepy, startled, tried to phase away, but Charmeleon's attack was just fast enough, scoring a glancing hit. It wasn't enough to knock it out, but it brought it down to a more manageable level.
Gilgamesh wasted no time. He pulled out a Premier Ball, its pristine white surface contrasting sharply with the dusty surroundings. "Alright, little guy, time to join the team!"
He hurled the ball with all his might. It soared through the air, hitting the Dreepy squarely. There was a flash of red light, and the Dreepy was drawn inside. The Premier Ball dropped to the ground, shaking once… twice… three times… and then, with a definitive click, it settled.
Gilgamesh let out a whoop of triumph, pumping his fist in the air. "Yes! I got it! A Dreepy!"
Charmeleon let out a satisfied roar, its tail flame burning brighter.
Gilgamesh knelt down, gently picking up the Premier Ball. He could feel the faint vibrations of the newly caught Pokémon within. A 'low legendary' Dragon/Ghost type… his collection just got a whole lot more exciting. Now, to tell Misty! He wondered if she'd believe him.
