Chapter 3 - From Woods to Runway

The 2nd Great War..

1945

The air thundered with gunfire. Explosions tore the earth open, and the stench of blood and smoke smothered the battlefield. Human corpses were strewn like autumn leaves — discarded, forgotten, piling with every passing minute, yet this bloodshed wasn't anywhere near ending

Until…

Western Union forces had launched their final offensive into the heart of the Eastern Dominion. But the world only cared about what truly ended the war that year.

A single man stepped onto the battlefield.

No badge. No rank. No weapon.

Only fists —

The shooting paused. Soldiers on both sides stared in confusion. Who was this lunatic walking through the crossfire?

Then the wind itself screamed.

In the blink of an eye, tanks were torn apart. Gunmen were hurled like broken dolls. A battalion of elite troops was crushed in seconds — not by explosives, but by the raw force of one man's fists. Bullets missed him entirely. Even artillery fire left him unscathed.

He was the Western Union's secret weapon.

The first ever chirin.

Their scientists had studied the connection between body and soul for years, enhancing his physique with experimental drugs and relentless training — until his body finally felt the soul within and drew power from it.

Codenamed: Project Chirin

In five hours, over 200,000 soldiers of the Eastern Dominion vanished from the face of the Earth.

Fear spread like wildfire. Guns dropped. Men fled. Some wept. Others froze, unable to process what they were seeing.

The war ended not with diplomacy, but with fear. The Eastern Dominion surrendered within days.

The Northern Empire, Iron Confederacy, the Central Crown, Silk Realm, Himalayan Pact, Southern Republic, Jade Crescent, and Desert Reign were all shaken. All had witnessed the footage leaked by surviving soldiers — a single man breaking through tanks, tearing through entire platoons, explosions rolling off him like dust.

It wasn't war anymore. It was survival.

Every nation realized the same truth:

No human weapon could match a Chirin.

And if the Western Union could create one…

What would happen when every nation had one of their own?

Thus began the silent race — the secret war behind wars. Every government poured their resources into awakening their own Chirin. Labs were built. Ethics were ignored. Power became the only measure of peace.

But none could forget the terror of that battlefield…

Chapter 3 – From Woods to Runway

Present day:

The morning sun filtered through the pines as Reeno and Kael stepped off the hidden trail and onto the winding dirt road. Below them, the village of Nauseri spread out like a patchwork of brown roofs and dusty stalls.

Kael:

"Downhill's this way. Don't trip."

Reeno (smirking):

"Wouldn't dream of it."

Reeno felt different because he wasn't carrying his heavy training backpack this morning, somewhere his mind was excited for what has to come next.

---

Halfway down the road, they reached a small shop front: a sleek black sign reading "Thread & Edge". Kael pushed the door open; a bell chimed.

Inside, fabrics lined the walls—denim, leather, and dark silks. A tall woman with a silver undercut looked up, folding her hands.

Kael:

"Asha—got a job for you."

Asha (grinning):

"About time you dragged him out. Come on, show me what you've got."

Reeno stepped forward. Asha measured his shoulders, then led him to a rack of clothing:

An oversized charcoal tee with subtle crimson stitching along the seams

Fitted gray jeans, artfully distressed at the knees

Black high-top trainers with a white sole and angular design

A long silver necklace and matching earring

Asha held each piece up. Reeno tried them on in a narrow fitting room mirror. He shrugged into the tee, zipped the jeans, and laced the sneakers with one smooth motion.

He stepped out.

Asha:

"Looks… effortless."

Reeno:

"Good. I'm not here to impress anyone on my first day."

Kael (watching):

"He'll impress plenty."

Asha handed Reeno a small leather wristband—an extra touch of flair.

Asha:

"Don't lose it."

Reeno tucked it on and nodded.

To the Station

Outside, the sun was higher. The rumble of a diesel train drifted up the valley.

Reeno:

"Let's move."

They hurried down the final steps toward the station: a single concrete platform beside gleaming rails.

A single-carriage train hissed as the driver inflated its brakes. Passengers in casual, city clothes gathered, eyes flicking to Reeno's sharp silhouette.

Kael gave him a final nod.

Kael:

"This is it. Remember—keep your head down, observe, and strike when you need to."

Reeno:

"Got it."

The doors slid open. Reeno stepped inside without a backward glance. Kael followed.

With a shudder and a groan, the train pulled away—carrying Reeno from the only home he'd ever known into a world bristling with secrets, rivals, an

d the promise of the Earth Union Tournament.

---

Next: Reeno's first glimpse of Verdan City and the faces he'll meet.
