Chapter 45 - This Lecture is Mine Now

Sebastian's POV

The call came in at 10:03 a.m.

From Kai.

Three words: She. Tripped. Again.

Three more: Guy helped. Professor.

He knew what that meant. He knew me.

By 10:10, I was at the university.

And by 10:20, I was walking through the halls of the law building like I'd built them myself.

I didn't knock.

I didn't wait.

I opened the door to Lecture Hall C2, all mahogany desks and stiff collars and whispering students, and walked in like I was the bloody syllabus.

Silence.

A few phones came up. Whispers turned into murmurs. Murmurs turned into stunned gasps.

"Is that—"

"Oh my god, is he her boyfriend?"

"He looks like a model."

"Is he royalty?"

"Forget royalty. That's mafia money."

"Did you see his jawline?"

"Is he here to fight the professor?!"

"She's so lucky I want to cry."

"She's dead if she doesn't marry him."

I found her in the second row.

Small. Frozen. Clutching her notes like they were a shield.

Big brown eyes went wide the second they saw me.

She opened her mouth.

I raised a brow.

She closed it.

Smart girl.

I walked straight to her desk, ignoring the stunned professor—I believe the name was Rutherford, as if I cared—and sat beside her like this was my damn lecture.

Then I draped my arm over her shoulders.

She went rigid.

But I didn't care.

I leaned in, just enough for only her to hear. "You tripped into a professor?"

She squeaked, "I didn't mean—"

"Do I need to buy this building too?"

"Seb—"

I squeezed her shoulder gently. "Relax. I'm just here for the lecture."

The whispers got louder.

Phones were recording now.

I glanced at the professor. "Please. Do go on. Don't mind me."

He blinked. "Right. Um—where were we?"

I settled back in my seat, one hand casually on her shoulder, the other resting on my thigh, legs stretched out like I had nowhere else to be.

But I did.

Right here.

Next to her.

Where she belonged.

And they needed to see it.

Every. Single. One of them.
