Chapter 1 - Background

"In the name of ordinary wood, protect all living beings in the world."

This continent is divided into two layers, known as the Upper Realm and the Lower Realm, and is divided into five tribes: the Divine Tribe, the Immortal Realm, the Demon Tribe, the Monster Tribe, and the Human Realm. The Divine Tribe is located in the eastern part of the Upper Realm, while the Demon Tribe is in the west; the Monster Tribe is situated in between these two tribes. In the Lower Realm, the Monster Tribe is in the north, and the Human Realm is in the south.

However, the Immortal Realm is a special existence. From the perspective of both the human and demon worlds, the Celestial Realm is seen as being above them, while from the perspective of the divine and demonic clans, it is viewed as being below them. Therefore, the Celestial Realm is actually caught in the middle, having created its own unique space. The Celestial Realm is created by those in the human realm who possess 'excessive' power, established to prevent any one faction from having such high power that it leads to an imbalance in resource competition. So once someone breaks through to the celestial level, they will ascend to the Celestial Realm. (This is why some intentionally suppress their power to create chaos in the human realm.) However, not everyone who reaches the celestial level can enter the Celestial Realm. There is a divine-level formation at the border of the Celestial Realm that tests the quality of one's soul (by quality, I mean the essence of the soul, whether it is good or evil). Only those who pass will be allowed in, while those who do not will be sent for 'recreation'.

If you ask why the Monster Tribe has two places, there are two reasons: first, the variety of racial types is extremely diverse; second, there are differences in innate bloodlines. The demon clan in the lower realm mostly has mortal bloodlines, with a few possessing immortal bloodlines. They need to strive hard to transform into human form, but they possess extremely high intelligence and can generally speak human language. In contrast, the demon clan in the upper realm is born in human form, mostly with divine-level bloodlines, and some ancient beings with primeval bloodlines, also possessing extremely high intelligence and the ability to speak human language.

Since their inception, the two races of gods and demons have been destined to stand against each other. The realm of gods is traditionally considered the righteous faction, while the demon race is seen as the villainous one. Although this definition is highly inaccurate, people in the human world still firmly believe that most beings from the god realm are proud and aloof, while those from the demon race are domineering and overbearing. It seems that neither side can be considered good... (Indeed, neither is a good person, as both prioritize their own interests.)

In the end, we return to the human realm, which is quite an unsettled place... The human and monster races coexist on the same continent, while the peaceful land of the humans extends from the border of the two factions. This place is called Ning'an, and the most prosperous area is Ning'an City, which also serves as the royal capital. Outside of Ning'an lies the frontier forces, where battles are constant and the flames of war rage on. It is mostly inhabited by bandits, pirates, and merchants, and any faction with a bit of power will regularly attack Ning'an, causing unrest in the border areas of Ning'an. The royal capital will also send troops to maintain defense.

This is the general situation of the five realms...
