Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Where am I?

Elsa was still panting as she tried to reach for the phone. Just as she was about to pick it up, the line disconnected. Trembling, she held the phone in her hand. After a hesitant pause, she decided to redial the number. But before she could tap the screen, Mira's old cellphone—which had been sitting on the table for years—started ringing.

Elsa froze.

"How is this possible? That phone hasn't worked in years..."

She stood there for a moment, paralyzed by fear, then slowly walked toward it. Her hand trembling, she picked up the call.

"H-Hello," she said shakily.

The line was crackling, unclear.

"Hello?" she asked again.

"Elsa!!!" a voice screamed from the other end.

Elsa gasped.

And everything went black.

"Elsa! Elsa! Wake up!" someone called, shaking her gently.

Elsa groaned, her eyes fluttering open. The bright morning sun beamed directly into her face, making her squint. As she slowly sat upright, a familiar voice rang out.

"Hey! Do you know what time it is? When are you going to start getting ready?!"

Elsa turned groggily. "Mom?"

Her mother scoffed. "You brat, get out of bed and get ready for school!"

Elsa blinked in shock. What... what am I doing here? I don't remember coming home.

"Mom, is this a joke? I moved out a year ago..."

Her mother paused, then playfully slapped her back. "You must have finally lost it. Now get dressed for school."

She stormed out of the room before Elsa could respond.

Shaking her head, she walked to her wardrobe and opened it. Her mouth dropped. "Why are all these tacky clothes here?!"

"Mom!" she called out.

Her mom returned, annoyed. "What now, Elsa?"

"I obviously want to get ready, but..." She pointed at the wardrobe. "Where are my clothes? I left some when I moved out!"

Her mom walked over and placed a hand on her forehead. "Are you feeling sick? You're not going to school like this. We're going to the hospital."

Elsa slapped her hand away. "I'm not sick. I need to go home and get ready for work. I can't wear these."

Her mother folded her arms. "Work? Move out? Elsa, I'm not letting you leave this house until you're married. Get dressed. Breakfast is on the table, and your dad left early for work."

She kissed Elsa's forehead and hurried off to work before Elsa could say another

Elsa , stunned. She looked around—this was definitely her old room. The Eclipse band posters, the medical textbooks she'd thrown out years ago... everything was exactly the way it had been in high school.

She walked to the wall calendar.

"February 6, 2019?" she read aloud, heart pounding.

She laughed nervously. "No way. Mom must've forgotten to change it."

But something felt off. As she passed by the mirror, she turned back and stared at her reflection.

She screamed.

"Oh my God!"

"Why do I look like this? My hair... it's long?!"

She ran her hands through it. In high school, her hair was long and black—just like now. She hated it and had cut it short in college. But now, her younger self stared back at her.

She gasped and looked at her body. "Why is everything smaller?!"

Her hair—long and black, the way it had been in high school. Her face—youthful. Her body—smaller.

"This can't be real... I'm back in time?"

Still dazed, she searched for her phone. Instead, she found her old cell phone, outdated and clunky. She turned it on, and the screen confirmed her fear:

6th February, 2019.

She threw the phone onto the bed and stepped back, trembling. Her thoughts spiraled.

What happened after dinner with Mr. Liam? Why do I look like my younger self? Is this a dream...?

The phone suddenly rang.

She jumped.

Heart racing, she picked it up. The caller ID read: My Soul Sister—a name she hadn't seen in years.

"Mira," she whispered.

With trembling hands, she answered.

"Girl, get your ass here right now! Are you just waking up!?" Mira's voice snapped through the line.

Elsa gasped. "Mira?" she said, barely audible.

"What?! Girl, if you're another minute late, I won't be able to cover for you with the teacher. You'll be stuck with cleaning duty again!"

Tears welled up in Elsa's eyes. "Mira... Is that really you?"

Mira sighed. "Who else would it be? Are you half-asleep? Just get to school!"

She hung up.

Elsa stood frozen, the phone falling from her hands as tears streamed down her face. Mira was alive. She was hearing her voice again.

Without another thought, she rushed into the bathroom, showered, and threw on the neatly hung school uniform—complete with her name tag.

She stepped out of the house, ignoring her mother's breakfast, and stared in awe at her neighborhood. Everything looked exactly as it had five years ago.

This can't be real...

She got on the bus she used to take to school, sitting quietly among students in the same old uniforms. After 30 minutes, she arrived at the school gate.

Just need to confirm... just to be sure...

Students filled the compound, laughing, gossiping, flirting. The usual high school energy buzzed all around.

"Hi Elsa!" a group of girls greeted as they passed.

Elsa blinked at them, stunned.

Huh?

Still walking she heard a familiar voice call out her name

"Hey Elsa!"

That voice.

Her heart skipped a beat.

She turned slowly.

Susan.

"Susan?" Elsa whispered.

Susan playfully draped her arm around Elsa's shoulder. "You trying to ditch class without me again?"

Elsa stared at her, speechless. Susan laughed "Do I look that good today?"

Without warning Elsa suddenly pulled her into a tight hug, tears falling again.

"I missed you so much, pumpkin. I'm so sorry I pushed you away..."

Susan was baffled. "Push me away? We just saw each other yesterday! Are you okay?"

Elsa didn't respond—just held her tighter. Then she pulled back. "Where's Mira?"

"Mira? I think she said she was heading to the PE field," Susan replied, still confused.

"Okay, thanks!" Elsa said, already running.

She sprinted to the field.

She reached the PE field. Students played football, others cheered. Then—there she was,

Mira.

Her usual sparkle

Cheering, laughing, alive.

Elsa froze, tears filling her eyes.

It was really her.

Mira turned and caught Elsa's gaze, waving with a mock pout. "You should've texted if you were going to be late!"

Elsa smiled through her tears and took a step toward her—Elsa's breath hitched. She took a step forward—

WHAM!

A football struck her forehead. She collapsed.

Everything went dark again.

Mira screamed and rushed to her side. The boy who threw the ball, panicked and ran towards her. "Help me let me take her to the school clinic "

Immediately mira helped Elsa get on his back. He rushed hurriedly to the school clinic

When she woke up, she was in the school clinic. She sat up quickly, clutching her head, but her eyes scanned the room in panic.

She was still in uniform.

Still in 2019.

She sighed in relief.

She sat upright as she was about to put on her shoes and leave.

"Hey! Wait, you can't leave yet!" a voice called.

She turned to see a boy approaching.

It was the student who'd hit her with the ball.

"I'm fine now," she said, getting off the bed.

"At least wait for the nurse, let her clear you—she just stepped out."

"I appreciate your concern, but I'll come back later if I feel unwell," she said, heading for the door.

As she reached the door, she paused and turned.

"Have we met before?"

The boy smiled. "I'm not sure if you know me, but I know you. Elsa—the show queen, Mira's bestie."

Elsa's eyes narrowed, trying to place him.

"Hmm… you even know my name."

Suddenly, her eyes widened. "No way..."

The boy smirked. "Anyway, nice to meet you. I'm Liam Daniels."

Elsa gasped, her hands flying to her mouth. "Mr. Liam?!"

Her heart pounded. She was looking at the teenage version of her boss.

What was happening?
