Chapter 4 - First Fight

"Hahaha, Zhen, is this your room? So neat!" Suddenly, the girl appeared at the door of his room.

Zhen rolled his eyes again.

"What are you doing here? Wait for me downstairs," he said.

"Come on, I just want to take a look…" The girl seemed about to step inside, but Zhen blocked her way.

"If you don't behave, I'll kick you out," he said.

Threatened with being kicked out, Tang Xin pouted slightly.

"Hmph, you're too uptight. What's wrong with me being here," she said, turning around and going back down to the first floor with Zhen following behind her.

He even brought a plastic chair since there was only one chair downstairs, even though it was big enough for three people to sit.

"You're not allowed upstairs," Zhen said to Tang Xin.

"Fine, fine, I'll just stay here," the girl replied, sitting down again on the wooden chair and flicking her black hair.

Zhen sat on the plastic chair he brought.

"Let's log in to that game world," he said.

"Of course! I want to play too," Tang Xin replied excitedly, putting on her Virtual Glasses.

"Zhen, don't forget to link your account to your phone number so we can add each other as friends," she added.

After saying that, she powered on the glasses, and her eyes closed immediately.

She then laid back on the wooden chair, as she was sitting in the middle of it.

Playing a virtual game is more suitable to be done on a bed, as the body can lie comfortably that way, but that wasn't possible for Zhen and Tang Xin right now.

Since Tang Xin had already logged in, Zhen quickly did the same.

He first linked his account to his phone number while still in the base server.

Once linked, all the contacts on his phone automatically connected to his account, and they would also be linked to his Sacred Beast Mountain account.

It was around 4:30 PM.

When he was teleported into the game world, Zhen stayed alert at first, worried about encountering a beast.

But when he actually appeared, he couldn't help but be stunned because what he saw wasn't a beast like he had expected.

He found a human—an old woman whose hair had completely turned white. She looked very thin and hunched over.

Without her cane, she would probably fall at any moment. It gave the impression that she was close to death.

What surprised Zhen even more was the virtual status floating above the old woman's head:

(Player!)

This old woman was actually a player.

From the looks of it, players' physical conditions were exactly the same as on Earth. If they could barely walk in real life, they could barely walk in this game as well.

"Young man, could you help me get to the city? I'll give you money later," the old woman suddenly said.

Before Zhen could respond, his eyes widened as he suddenly saw a monkey leaping from behind a tree, charging at them while baring its long claws.

A monkey wouldn't usually be frightening to Zhen, but this one stood nearly three meters tall. It was taller than a human.

Zhen saw the status above the monkey's head:

(Monkey Beast – Level 5, Equivalent to Qi Master Realm Stage Five Cultivator!)

Shua!

Zhen swung his hand to strike the monkey even before it reached them.

Of course, his movement wasn't that simple. It released five sword slashes made of Qi, each nearly as tall as the monkey.

In midair, the monkey couldn't dodge. All five slashes hit its body and cut it into five pieces instantly.

This was the Sword Slash Technique. For every 1% comprehension of the technique, it allowed him to release one slash. At 5%, that meant five slashes.

Of course, more slashes required more Qi.

DING!

(You have slain a Level 5 Beast. You have gained 5 System Points!)

[System Points: 35]

Seems like I'm really strong! Zhen was surprised by his own strength, being able to kill a Level 5 Beast with a single attack.

The old woman instinctively looked back and staggered upon seeing the monkey's body parts.

However, she only looked surprised, not disgusted.

Apparently, this game had a feature that suppressed disgust for things considered normal in the cultivation world.

After all, in the world of cultivation, killing humans was common—let alone just killing a monkey.

Zhen didn't lower his guard despite the monkey's death, suspecting there might be more.

He even transformed his right hand into a dragon's claw.

Just as he did so, two more monkeys came from different directions, roaring angrily as if avenging their fallen companion.

Both were also Level 5.

Facing both while protecting the old woman would be a bit difficult, Zhen thought.

"Madam, let's go!" Zhen finally decided to carry the old woman on his back, leaping backward and then running quickly.

Of course, the two monkeys immediately gave chase.

However, he manipulated the space around him so that it seemed smaller. Ten meters felt like only one meter to him. One step of his covered ten steps of distance.

Using that trick, he easily left the two monkeys behind, who started screaming as if calling him a coward.

Fortunately, the direction he headed wasn't far from a road. After running for about five minutes, he saw a road about four meters wide, made of arranged red bricks.

The road was very long, and Zhen saw several caravans passing by.

In the distance, he saw a city. It didn't look small, although it had an ancient design, with most buildings made of wood.

According to Tang Xin's explanation in the car earlier, the vast Sacred Cloud Forest had many roads considered safe from monsters, and those roads would lead to various cities under the jurisdiction of the Sacred Cloud Sect.

Each of those cities had a branch of the Sacred Cloud Sect where people could register as outer disciples.

Zhen headed for the city until he arrived at its gates.

He was slightly surprised by the liveliness—many people were selling goods along the roadside.

When he arrived, he gently lowered the old woman from his back.

He looked at her again, wondering if she was from an elite family, since she had promised to pay him for escorting her to the city.

Of course, he hadn't helped her for the money. He was just a bit curious.

"Madam, can you walk?" Zhen asked her.

"Yes, I can still walk. After absorbing some Qi, my body feels a bit stronger!" the old woman replied.

She seemed to have a kind and wise personality.

"Young man, thank you for your help. My name is Miao Yu. What's your name? Where do you live? Or give me your contact info—I'll ask my granddaughter to send you some money," she continued.

To talk so casually about giving money—this woman must be very wealthy, and likely used to giving out money for small things.

"Madam, that won't be necessary. I helped you from the bottom of my heart," Zhen replied.

Not wanting the old woman to keep offering money, Zhen added, "Madam, I still have things to do. Farewell!"

After saying that, he quickly stepped into the city.

He just wanted to cultivate peacefully and improve his cultivation level further, because he knew this game was very mysterious. He didn't want to get involved in anything else—even if it seemed good.
