Blake races inside after buying a new game for his VR, it's called game of evolution. It has the best graphics on the market and gives all the freedom to players to do and become whatever they want.
Quickly he plugs everything in and puts the headset on. After the game loads it asks for his class, a list of classes display infront of him with a show of their weapons.
Blake scrolls through the options before finding one called martial swordsman, a brief description underneath it "A class that specialises in swordsman ship and hand to hand combat, flexible and reliable."
Blake smiles as that suits his life style as he practices kendo and various martial arts in real life which is meant to help with the development of in game skills. After making the selection he finds himself in the center of a town with a screen infront of him reading "To access your digital menu open your hand out infront of you palm up."
He puts his palm up infront of him and the screen is replaced with another, this one displays all of his stats, skills, equipment and quests. Next to the screen is a map of his surroundings, showing a radius of about 2 km either direction. "This will help me get around at least" Blake whispers.
Blake scans his stats.

Blake's eyes drift over to the map to locate the quest hall, turns out it was right next to him. "Easy quest!" He yells before moving his hand away closing the menu and walking to the quest hall.
Upon entering the quest hall a screen appears infront of him "You have completed the quest 'make your way to the quest hall' 100% of players have completed this quest."
After walking in a NPC walks up to him and says "welcome to the quest hall! Over on the back wall is a list of quests that change hourly, to accept a quest you must first meet all of its requirements and then you can touch the quest paper on the wall and it will be added to your log, the system will keep track of everything and once complete with automatically issue you your rewards." Blake nods as he walks to the back wall, "no point in responding to an NPC they can only say certain phrases." He whispers while walking to the back wall. He scans all of the quests, some very complicated or difficult while others look easy, the only ones that he can complete are a healing lily gathering quest that grants two gold, a slime killing quest that grants 50XP and a goblin killing quest that grants 100XP and one gold. He decides to take all three. Blake opens his menu and sees the map has flags on the map that tell him where to go to complete each quest. Healing lilies are found in the whole of Garden Forest, slimes are found in the surface of the Garden Forest and goblins are found deep in the Garden Forest. "At least all of them can be found in the one place." Blake says before heading out.
With no gold and no equipment or items Blake just heads straight out to the Garden Forest. Waking through the town like he was actually there and not in a video game, the surroundings feel and look so real Blake looks around in awe, "Iwouldn't be able to tell what's real and what's not even if I had to." Blake mumbles to himself.
Arriving at the forest edge, Blake swiftly enters the forest drawing his sword keeping an eye out for slimes and the healing lilies he is looking for.
"Apparently slimes are everywhere here look at them all!" Blake yells as he comes out through a bush and sees eight slimes in a group.
With a bit of hesitation he races into the group of slimes and was surprised that without activating a skill he could easily one shot them. With relative ease he quickly took down all of the slimes in the group. None of them dropped any items though but the information he read before buying the game said that items only drop from monsters rarely and beginner level monsters have a 0.0001% chance of dropping anything at all while the strongest monster found so far only has a 3.8% drop chance of any item. The luck stat improves these chances by 0.25% every 10 luck a player has.
Blake continues to look around, finding two healing lilies in the area before moving on to another section of the outer forest. Again finding a group of slimes this time only six slimes. Without using his skills he started attacking with relative ease, after killing the second slime of the group a screen popped up infront of him "You have completed the quest 'Slime Killer 1' 92% of players have completed this quest."
Blake quickly continues killing the remaining slimes, as the last one vanishes into pixels and then nothing Blake opens his menu to look at his stats.

Seeing that he is nearly level two Blake decides to continue. Looking around for more of the healing lilies but unfortunately not finding any, he heads in deeper to find some goblins and hopefully some of the healing lilies.
After arriving at the pet of the forest the game considers deep a screen pops up infront of Blake "You have entered the territory of goblins, this has been classified as a dungeon. To complete the dungeon you must kill the goblin Lord 'Thrasher Level 5'. If you wish to quickly get back to town just think the phrase 'Exit Dungeon' and it will teleport you to the last town you visited, this feature is only available to those level 10 or lower and if you die you will be respawned with a penalty of a permanent reduction of one from all stats. Good luck."
"At least there is an easy way for me to get back." Blake whispers before continuing forward.
It doesn't take long to find all of the healing lilies he needs to complete the quest, upon picking his fifth healing lily a screen appears just like before "You have completed the quest 'lily harvester 1' 83% of players have completed this quest."
In a dazed state reading Blake doesn't notice the three golblins surround him.
