Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 - Those Who Know the Future

She was covered in pink patterns, nearly half the size of an adult, with eight grotesque legs extending from her body and a rigid outer shell.

Anyone living in a normal world would probably faint at the mere sight of her.

Without any filters, Spider Girl was far from cute.

But since that won't do… let's turn on the beauty filter~ Alright!

Now she looked like an incredibly adorable little spider.

Her pink, crystal-like eyes shimmered brilliantly, and she had six additional pink eyes glimmering beside and above them.

Her body appeared soft, with slender, pale legs wrapped in black stockings—eight of them, to be precise.

A paradise for leg lovers!

However, at that moment, Spider Girl's body drooped.

Her mouth hung open in shock, her lifeless eyes full of confusion.

She looked like a salted fish that had lost all dreams—utterly drained of hope.

She didn't even react to the constant vibrations traveling through her web.

"I… I'm a spider?"

The words were barely audible, as if only she could understand them.

With a blank stare, she raised her two front legs and waved them in front of her face, disbelief reflected in all eight of her eyes.

Right now, Spider Girl regretted learning about her own future.

"I actually turned into a spider?!"

Her scream, mixed with a howl of denial, echoed in the webbed nest she had just built.

Completely overwhelmed by a truth she had never even considered, she began to roll around like crazy inside her makeshift home.

Even with a spider's face, the agony and heartbreak were obvious.

Then, as if she remembered something important, her wild flailing came to an abrupt halt.

She froze, took a deep breath, and began to think.

"Oh… right. I am a spider now."

She paused for a moment, then wore a look of sudden enlightenment. Her tone was calm, as though the one screaming just seconds ago wasn't her.

Whether she was human or spider in her past life didn't matter anymore. She had already reincarnated into this eight-legged form.

That was a fact she couldn't change.

She tapped her head with her front legs. Just thinking about how she'd eventually be able to take human form—and even ascend to godhood—instantly lifted her spirits.

"Alrighty then! Time to celebrate my surprisingly bright future… with food!"

Reinvigorated, Spider Girl dashed out of her lair, leaping onto her web with boundless energy. The world is vast, but eating still takes top priority.

After all, she still had the memories of a shut-in otaku from her past life!

And when it comes to adaptability… well, let's just say she ranks second across all dimensions.

As for first place?

Oh dear, let's be humble about that~

'Bang!'

"Kotori?!"

"What happened?!"

A boy's worried voice rang out as Itsuka Shido rushed toward Itsuka Kotori's room.

That loud noise—like something or someone falling—had him on high alert. He knocked rapidly on the door.

"Kotori, are you okay?!"

"Shido~? What's going on?"

A slender girl with flowing black hair that reached down to her knees and eyes of mesmerizing crystal hues stepped out of her room.

Her beauty was ethereal—like a spirit from a fantasy tale.

In fact, you could drop the "like." She was a spirit.

Yatogami Tohka rubbed her eyes and wandered over, still a bit dazed.

"I'm not sure," Shido replied as he continued knocking. "It just sounded like—"

'Creak—'

The doorknob turned.

The door slowly opened with a soft creaking sound. Shido instinctively stepped back a little, pausing mid-knock.

A small head with fiery red hair peeked through the crack. On Kotori Itsuka's delicate face was an expression Shido couldn't quite place.

"I'm… fine."

'Lie detected!'

Inside, Kotori's mind was trembling—literally shaking with panic.

What… what even was that?!

The scene from Date A Live she just witnessed made her head hurt.

She had been holding her temples in frustration… and ended up falling straight off the bed.

So now, not only was her head aching, but her chest hurt too.

"Are you really okay?"

"Ah… I just rolled off while sleeping. It's nothing."

Forcing a smile that barely resembled her usual one, Kotori quickly shut the door again.

Her brain was in complete disarray, like countless bombs had gone off in her head all at once, leaving her mind a blank wasteland.

She never imagined—Murasame Reine was actually Spirit Zero!

But that wasn't even the most shocking part.

What truly shook her was the origin of the Spirits… and Mio Takamiya's ultimate goal.

Her mind could hardly handle it.

And what made it worse?

She had no idea how to deal with it.

Mio Takamiya's power was simply too overwhelming.

If she went all out, wiping out the entire surface of the planet wouldn't even be a challenge.

Even if all the Spirits teamed up, they wouldn't stand a chance against her.

If they wanted to win, it looked like there was only one person left to rely on—Shido Itsuka.

But just thinking about Shido, Kotori suddenly froze.

She stared blankly at the story playing out in her mind, an odd and unsettling feeling creeping up inside her.

(╯°Д°)╯︵┻━┻)

"This… This is just a brain-dead harem light novel!!!"

Looking at it more closely, sure, the plot seemed full of danger and high stakes right now—but in the end, wasn't this just your typical harem rom-com?

Kotori would bet anything that if the story didn't end with protagonist Shido Itsuka living happily ever after with all the Spirits…

…Then she'd eat Tohka's cooking every day for the rest of her life!

"Sigh…" A small sigh escaped her lips.

She had planned to finish the anime and then start strategizing for the future, but now… all sense of urgency had vanished.

Just then, the sound of a new notification from the chat group snapped Kotori back to reality.

————————————————————————

[Nagami]: Waaah~ Has everyone finished watching their future? If anything's unclear, feel free to ask me!"

"Also, your weak, pitiful, helpless (but still hungry) newbie group admin is online and humbly begging for guidance from you OP veterans! I'm small, but I know a LOT!

————————————————————————

Fully in "service mode," Nagami offered his most sincere support to his overpowered group members.

————————————————————————

[Akemi Homura]: Um… excuse me… but… isn't the group's dimensional travel function still inactive?

————————————————————————

Even though she didn't see herself as a "big shot," Homura felt she owed Nagami a lot.

If there was any way she could return the favor, she wouldn't hesitate.

'Yes!'

The group members were now on board.

All that was left was to increase the member count.

Once that was done, she'd have not just allies—but friends she could count on.

Hopefully it could all be ready before the Third Honkai Eruption. If so, Nagami had a 99% chance of preventing the catastrophe.

————————————————————————

[Shiraori]: Nagami… are you really just an ordinary person?

[Nagami]: I swear I am! Right now, I can't even lift a chicken without effort! I'm about to face a city-leveling disaster, and if it weren't for this cheat code of a chat group, I'd be toast.

————————————————————————

Honestly, with his current physical stats, saying he was "as weak as a baby chick" wasn't even an exaggeration—not to this crowd.

As for the other parts of what he said… well, maybe reality was a tiny bit stronger than he let on.

Just a tiny bit.

Definitely not "by a billion percent."

Also—Spider Girl? Was that username his way of accepting his new spider identity already?

After replying to the messages, Nagami walked straight to his bedroom. The moment he sat down, a match notification popped up on the screen.

————————————————————————

[Shiraori]: …That sounds rough. I really want to help, but I haven't evolved even once yet. I'm sorry—I might not be of any use this time…

————————————————————————

Her message carried genuine regret.

Nagami had helped her so much, and now she couldn't return the favor. But Shiraori had made up her mind—she would level up as soon as possible.

Sure, she would become one of the rarest, most powerful beings in her world later on.

But that didn't change the fact that in the beginning, she had to fight tooth and claw just to survive.

For survival.

For the chance to return to human form.

For the sake of repaying Nagami.

Level up!
