[You began managing Azure Spell Peak. A female apprentice from the potion hall was disciplined for three months, tending cauldrons, after entering with her left foot first.]

[This spooked others, who now entered right foot first.]

[You immersed yourself in arcane study, celebrating your first New Year at Celestial Academy with Lily in your cave, preparing a lavish feast.]

[Lily was thrilled, eating eagerly.]

Winter cloaked the world in bleakness.

Leaves gone, flowers wilted, forests bare. Skeletal branches swayed in icy winds, snow piling into a stark white expanse.

James disliked winter.

In the simulated world, his five years in Ironhaven were tough, his earnings barely feeding him and Lily.

Charcoal for warmth was a luxury.

Daily, James scavenged cinders or branches outside the city for a small fire.

He recalled harsh winters—snowy gales stinging his face, frost chilling his lungs.

Yet, a small figure always huddled at the cottage door, shivering but waiting.

When James returned, she'd cup his frozen cheeks with her tiny hands, her smile a warm beacon.

The biting wind was cruel, but her warmth kept him going.

Now, with Azure Spell Peak's resources, James no longer feared such struggles.

Still, falling snow stirred memories of those hard days.

"Brother!"

Lily's lively voice broke his reverie.

"I'm here. What's up?"

"Eat before the food gets cold," she scolded playfully, wagging a finger.

At six, Lily tried to look stern. "Eat it hot, brother!"

James smiled, charmed by her seriousness.

"Alright," he said, picking up his fork.

They ate in sync, a quiet understanding between them.

Even in winter's chill, their shared warmth made life bearable. They awaited spring.

[You and Lily shared a cozy New Year.]

[At year's turn, you forged a perfect Arcane Foundation, setting a Celestial Academy record for fastest foundation-building.]

[Eldrin rewarded you with a masterwork skystaff and a protective amulet.]

[Keeping your promise, you took Lily soaring on the skystaff. She said she was overjoyed.]

[Winter faded, spring bloomed.]

[As an Arcane Foundation sorcerer, you took on more Academy duties. To keep Lily engaged and prepare her future, you enrolled her in a school.]

[On her first day, she cried, fearing abandonment. You resolved the misunderstanding.]

[Lily excelled academically, her sharp mind delighting you, though her shyness and lack of friends worried you.]

[You pondered her future happiness.]

"Brother, is life long?"

"It can be," James replied.

"Is it short?"

"Can be that too."

"How's it both?" Lily frowned.

"That's just life," he said gently.

Lily thought, then answered, "Life's tricky. I just wanna stay with brother forever. Don't need friends."

[She had her own way, and you let her follow it.]

[Your bond with Lily deepened over years.]

[In year seven, at 13, you broke through again. Lily, 7, finished her school courses in one year.]

[In year eight, at 14, you reached mid-Arcane Foundation. Wielding a frostvine skystaff, you defeated a near-Adept sorcerer. They called you a future Adept, but you stayed humble.]

[At 8, Lily helped with Azure Spell Peak chores, her charm winning over apprentices.]

[By year nine, at 15, you matured, losing youthful innocence. Elders and juniors hailed you as a rising star.]

[At 9, Lily focused on aiding you at the peak, excelling despite lacking magical affinity.]

[By year ten, you were 16, she was 10.]

Life kept improving.

James was content. He grew stronger, earned high simulation scores, and ensured Lily's comfort.

Though a simulation, the emotions felt real.

He wanted Lily to have the best life.

"Time flies," James mused. "Ten years already. Lily's tenth birthday."

Recalling her rescue, he smiled. It felt like yesterday.

At 16, James gazed skyward, sentimental. He flew his skystaff to the cave, eager to celebrate with a special gift.

Everything seemed perfect.

"Brother…"

"Lily hurts…"

Entering the cave, James found no cheerful greeting.

Inside, Lily lay on the ground, face pale.

Blood trickled from her mouth, staining her lips red.

Panic gripped James.

"Lily!" he shouted, rushing to her.

He used every healing potion and spell he had, desperate to save her.

After half an hour, Lily's eyes fluttered open.

Seeing James, she gave a faint smile.

"Lily knew… Brother… would save me…"

"So, Lily waited…"

"Finally, I waited…"
