Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Anyone who knew Bryson normally would never believe that the silly-looking man in front of them was really him.

The reason Bryson looked so out of character wasn't because he lacked composure, but because, in a world like this, marrying a wife was almost impossible.

In ordinary families, parents had to work hard all their lives just to afford or arrange a single wife for all their sons.

Bryson grew up with an old hunter and had no brothers to rely on, so he had no support.

If he wanted a wife, he had to depend on himself.

Even though he believed he had a plan, based on his current life as a hunter and how slowly he saved money, he would still need to work hard and wait patiently for many more years if he ever wanted to get married.

He had seen many women before. The lower-class ones were rough-looking and hard to look at. The higher-class ones were a bit better looking, but their price was extremely high.

Because of this, he didn't have strong desires.

He knew he enjoyed a free and relaxed life by himself. Why suffer just for a woman? Besides, he had never even thought about getting married before.

To him, living alone was full of freedom. There was no need to be tied down by marriage.

Now, he didn't think that way anymore.

If he could marry a girl as beautiful as the one lying in bed now, he would be overjoyed.

And now, he had easily gained an amazing partner.

To him, this was a surprising gift.

Even though the girl he picked up was a bit young, her beauty far surpassed any woman Bryson had ever seen.

He believed that after a few years of his careful care, even the daughters of high officials in the Yu Kingdom would not be able to compare to this girl's looks.

It was like someone in a village working hard every day to save money just to marry a wife. Then one day, the heavens suddenly gave him a fairy-like girl.

This unexpected luck was so joyful that it felt like a beautiful dream.

Bryson looked at Missy's delicate face and soft figure.

He had never seen such a perfect combination.

Every time he looked at her, it felt like he was admiring a one-of-a-kind piece of art.

This amazing beauty deeply moved Bryson's heart and made him determined that, no matter what kind of difficulties he might face, he would find a way to keep this girl by his side.

When Missy woke up, she found herself lying on a bed.

Other than her head feeling a little dizzy, nothing else seemed wrong.

She happily thought that someone had rescued her and that she was now back home.

Still feeling confused, she reached beside her pillow to find her phone and check the time.

But her hand touched nothing. Her phone wasn't there.

That made her feel something was off. She tried to sit up but found her whole body had no strength.

She couldn't get up at all.

Through the window, the moonlight shone in. She looked at the unfamiliar wooden ceiling above her.

Only then did she realize that she wasn't home. She was in a strange place.

After resting a little, she felt a bit stronger.

She used all her strength to sit up.

Looking around the room, she saw that the furniture was simple but tidy.

There was an old wooden table with a tea set on it and two wooden benches next to it.

Against the wall stood a not-too-big wooden cabinet.

And of course, the wooden bed she was sitting on, along with the pillow and quilt.

All these items looked clearly old. They were definitely not modern things.

Where is this place?

Missy frowned and looked around, trying to find any signs that could prove this was still the modern world. But everything was so quiet and unfamiliar.

Suddenly, the moon outside was covered by clouds, and the room sank into deep darkness.

Missy, who was always a timid person, now found herself in such an eerie environment.

Her eyes turned red, she bit her lip, hugged her knees, and silently let the tears fall.

Fear and helplessness filled her heart.

After a while, she stopped crying.

She forced herself to be brave. She looked around the room again. Everything still felt strange and dark.

Everything inside the room made her feel scared and unfamiliar.

It felt like she was the only person left in the world.

She didn't know what to do.

She wanted to stand up and go outside to see if there were any other people.

She wanted to find someone who could help her.

But her body felt weak.

In the end, she had no choice but to lie back down on the bed.

Lying there quietly, she began to think.

This clearly wasn't a hospital, and her body didn't feel any pain.

She remembered falling into the water while drifting from the rubber boat. She had fainted and lost consciousness.

When she woke up, she was already here.

This made her feel confused.

She guessed that the current must have carried her far away to a shore, and maybe someone nearby had rescued her and brought her here.

She didn't know if Jilan and the others were looking for help to find her.

She didn't know if her parents had already learned that she had fallen into the water.

If they knew, they would surely be very worried about her.

She wanted to contact them as soon as possible to let them know she was safe.

But right now...

Thinking of her parents, tears started falling again.

Slowly, her mind began to feel dizzy, as if an invisible force was pulling her into a dreamlike state.

In that blur,

She seemed to see the worried eyes of her parents again. Her heart felt tight and sour.

Bryson, after finishing washing up, quietly walked into the room.

A faint oil lamp lit up his figure.

He gently placed the lamp on the table, then walked over to the girl's bed.

Seeing her eyes shut tightly and her sleep restless,

Her face covered in tears, clearly from a nightmare, filled his heart with concern.

He checked her pulse again. This time,

He found that the fever was caused by shock and fear.

Bryson gently touched her forehead, feeling pity in his heart.

Luckily, he had some herbs he picked himself.

These herbs were things he had collected during his hunting trips, used for emergencies for himself and those around him.

He immediately went to the kitchen to boil the medicine and carefully brought it into the room.

Once the medicine cooled a little, he slowly fed it to the girl.

Bryson sat by the bed, watching as her fever slowly went down,

And her breathing became calm again.

He finally felt relieved.

After taking care of Missy,

He picked up the oil lamp from the table and walked toward another room.
