Two teams of firefighters were battling the flames, but their captain received another distress call—multiple logistics parks were ablaze, the fire was out of control.
Inside the office building, Lin Jiu placed the boss lady on a table.
Staring at her beautiful legs, he smirked wickedly. "Hand it over."
The boss lady clutched the hem of her skirt nervously. "Hand over what? Lin Jiu, don't mess around. This is a workplace."
She glared at him with anger, though her heart pounded at his smile. A mere office worker daring to ogle her—unforgivable.
Lin Jiu leaned down, hands on the table, whispering into her ear, "Give me the car keys. Or I don't know what I might do."
Car keys?
He was robbing her car too?
The boss lady whipped out her phone to call the police, but Lin Jiu snatched it away.
"You leave me no choice."
He smashed her phone, dragged her off the table, and rummaged through her bag for the keys.
Thud!
"Ow! That hurts!"
A male colleague was eavesdropping outside the door and couldn't help but admire Lin Jiu. The boss lady was even more beautiful than Fang Xiaoqian, a goddess in their eyes.
He actually dared to get rough. That kind of guts... he couldn't match.
Twenty minutes later, Lin Jiu dragged the boss lady out and pushed her onto his desk.
During those twenty minutes, he had played rock-paper-scissors with her. Each loss meant a strike with a belt. He'd finally vented his rage.
"Time's almost up. Fang Xiaoqian, I'm giving you the boss lady."
He ran to the door, ready to bolt.
The five male colleagues were stunned. They glanced at the boss lady, now bound by a belt, then looked at Fang Xiaoqian.
"Didn't know Fang Xiaoqian was into this. Wild."
"How'd Lin Jiu find out?"
"Come on, they must have had something going on."
"Yeah, or he wouldn't be this bold."
They snickered in the corner.
Fang Xiaoqian sipped her coffee, but finally slammed the table and stood up, unable to bear it anymore.
Beep Beep!
Countdown: 00 minutes 00 seconds.
The countdown stopped.
Lin Jiu burst into a sprint, vanishing down the corridor.
"He ran? Is he afraid the boss lady will call the police?"
Everyone was dumbfounded.
"Untie me! You all just watched him bully me... sob..."
The boss lady scolded them through tears, trying to get free and call the police before he could drive off.
Just as they turned to help, they froze.
"What are you waiting for? Hurry—"
She stopped mid-sentence, seeing Fang Xiaoqian staring at her with bloodshot eyes.
Then—chomp—her throat was ripped open. Blood sprayed onto Fang Xiaoqian's face.
Her pale face, soaked in blood, looked terrifying.
The men finally reacted, screaming and running.
Roar!
The young man with glasses turned too, biting into the neck of a skinny coworker.
Blood and screams filled the air—the office became a nightmare.
Huff... Huff...
Lin Jiu kept running. He knew the elevators didn't work—one was broken, the other jammed.
He dashed for the stairs.
Meanwhile, a chubby girl ran out of the office. She barely made it a few steps before Fang Xiaoqian grabbed her and plunged her fingers into her flesh.
The coworkers that followed swarmed her, devouring her alive.
At the 9th floor, Lin Jiu slowed down, then kicked a zombie janitor in the face before she could lunge.
Crash!
She slammed back into the room, buying him time.
By the time she reached the stairwell again, Lin Jiu was gone.
On the 6th floor, he jumped over two child zombies.
On the 5th, he elbowed an old zombie down the stairs.
At the 2nd floor, he paused to catch his breath.
"Can't see me, you can't see me."
He muttered, watching five student-zombies roam the lobby.
They were girls, but their faces were chewed beyond recognition.
He'd been killed by them ten times in the parking lot—he couldn't let it happen again.
But luck wasn't with him. After descending 13 floors, his legs gave out. He stumbled.
Roar!
The five zombies noticed and charged.
He scrambled up and ran. In panic, he grabbed the railing—and dropped the car keys.
"Crap!"
He turned on his phone's flashlight and reached the B2 level. Thankfully, it was clear.
He grabbed the keys and sprinted to the Mercedes.
Zombies were nearly grabbing his hair. No time to look back—just run.
"Lights on!"
He unlocked the car and jumped in.
Crunch!
Four zombie fingers got caught in the door. He slammed it shut.
Started the car—his driving was rusty, but he floored it.
A horrific face slammed against the windshield.
He ignored it and sped out of the garage.
Bang!
He hit a Porsche, veered right, and sped down the road.
"Hey! You little punk—hit and run?!"
A woman in a trench coat stepped out to inspect. Zombies tackled her instantly.
Rip! Crunch!
They tore her face apart as she screamed.
Panicked students screamed and fled. The outbreak was everywhere.
Lin Jiu raced back to his apartment. He hadn't driven in years and scratched plenty of cars.
"Gotta run. Gotta get out of here!"
He grabbed his clothes, wallet, ID—and left.
He drove out of town, but 2 kilometers in, the car stopped.
Not traffic. The engine wouldn't respond.
Beep Beep!
Countdown: 10 days.
"What the hell? I have to survive within a 2 km radius for 10 days?!"
He was speechless. He thought he'd escaped the curse, but it was only the beginning.
The first time Fang Xiaoqian turned, he got a respawn system.
He thought it was a gift, until he realized he only revived one hour before the outbreak.
"D*mn it. Die again and I'm back to square one."
Lin Jiu slumped on the wheel, thinking. He needed a place to hide for 10 days.
So he searched for somewhere remote. But the city was all buildings—no place to hole up.
Bang!
Lost in thought, he got rammed by a bus. A truck behind them couldn't brake in time.
The Mercedes was crushed.
"Ugh... d*mn it!"
Lin Jiu woke up—reborn again...
