Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 : The Pieces Move

Part 1 – The Hidden Healer

The old west wing of the estate once abandoned and filled with dust had now transformed.

Liana stood before a converted lab space, tying back her hair as the portable generator hummed behind her. The air smelled of isopropyl and determination.

Screens lit up. Digital imaging scanned samples. Vials clicked into centrifuges. A test run was underway.

Alexander watched from the doorway, silently impressed.

"I didn't ask what you gave up," he said. "But I see now it wasn't because you lacked strength."

Liana didn't glance up. "I gave it up because they killed a patient to protect funding. I exposed them, and the board buried me."

"You went underground."

She looked up then, fierce. "Now I'm back above ground and I'm going to save lives they thought unworthy."

She returned to her work, activating her experimental gene editing prototype years of research, exiled but not erased.

Elena entered with a quiet nod. "The readings are clean. This is beyond anything we've seen in biotech."

Alexander stepped closer to Liana. "You're not just a healer," he said softly. "You're a weapon in your own right."

Liana's gaze held fire. "And I choose who I fight for."

Part 2 – The First Blow

At 3:13 p.m., the first bomb exploded.

Not a literal bomb. A financial one.

All around the world, shares of Wolfe Industries plummeted as a falsified report leaked to the public alleging corruption, insider trading, and criminal alliances.

Julian's voice echoed across national news channels:

"I've taken over as acting chairman. Alexander Wolfe is under investigation for multiple counts of corporate malpractice. We will clean house."

Alexander's phone vibrated. Every board member had received the same internal memo. Legal. Ruthless. Coordinated.

Then came the second strike.

A direct message from Julian to Alexander's secure line.

"Checkmate, brother. Or will you finally stop hiding and play the part you were born for?"

Alexander gritted his jaw, tossing the phone into the fireplace where it shattered in flame.

He turned to Liana and Elena, eyes cold. "Julian wants a war of image. We'll give him something worse."

"What's the move?" Elena asked.

Alexander looked at Liana. "We go public. With the truth. With her research. With everything they tried to bury."

Liana nodded slowly. "Let's bring the storm."

Part 3 – Shadows at the Round Table

Beneath the mansion, past a concealed stairwell behind a false bookshelf, lay a war room built into stone and silence.

A single round table stood in the center, under a ring of light. Five figures sat around it men and women with coded names, no identities, no pasts. All sworn to Domine.

Alexander stood at the head, flanked by Elena.

Liana remained just outside, listening but not yet stepping in. What she heard sent chills through her.

"Julian's move was sharp," Elena began. "He has someone inside InterCorp, feeding him backdoor intelligence. We can't out media him. Not cleanly."

Alexander nodded, then placed a thick dossier onto the table. "That's why we for Plan B."

The room fell into complete silence.

"Is that confirmed?" asked a man with silver at his temples—Cipher, Alexander's tactical strategist.

"Yes," Alexander replied. "We retrieve the dossier from Geneva. The one tying Julian to the illegal medical trials and the proxy accounts laundering blood money through ghost charities."

Another operative leaned forward—Valkyrie, an ex-intel ghost and Alexander's deadliest field agent. "You want it retrieved, or leaked?"

"Both," Alexander said. "But timed. Right before Liana presents her prototype publicly. We need to crush his credibility while the world is watching us rise."

"And if Liana becomes a target again?" Cipher asked.

"She won't be alone," Alexander said darkly. "But if Julian crosses the last line if he comes for her personally I authorize open protocol."

The room reacted with weight. Open protocol meant scorched earth.

He turned to Elena. "Prepare the offshore fallback vaults. Lock down our AI cores. Activate ghost fund withdrawals."

Elena nodded. "It's already in motion."

Then Alexander glanced toward the door where he knew Liana waited.

His voice dropped.

"We fight this above ground. But if the light fails we burn everything they've built… and start over from the ashes."

The operatives stood in unison.

"Domine."
