Grim Dark Online, the game that made Rein's life into a Hell Hole. He just died once again in a pitiful way....he died headless and it was painful for only a split second.
YOU DIED.....
DEATH IS PERMANENT...
SYSTEM RESETTING THE TIME.....
GOING BACK TO THE BEGINNING!
Rein opened his eyes and saw a vast city. But to his surprise, he was in the skies! His body was semi-ethereal and soul-like.
Whaaaaa!
He then was sucked below by a great force and then landed on a platform. Two pillars were seen on both sides that serve as a gate for spawning new players. With him arriving on the pillars, he smelled the fresh breath of air. He then went to feel himself and he could sense the realistic feeling of the game.
"Nice, I can feel my body."
He was at the starting point of the game. A huge portal was on his back and it spews new players in the meantime.
He then inspected himself and saw his hands. It was identical in the real world as the VR headset scans your body.
He then went to his favorite haven where he would just sleep on the grass. It was on the outside of the city where a safe zone erupted. He then saw birds flying and sounding in the vicinity as he watched the sunset. The flowers ranging from yellow to red bathed the winds with their scent and Rein went to take a nap in its relaxing cold embrace.
The Land of Venafar, a great place to escape reality. The 1st floor of the game was home to all races and tribes. The rest of the floors were still to be explored. It comprises 100 floors all in all and each floor has increasing difficulty.
He then took the time to relax a bit because when the plot of the game starts. All Hell would break loose. It would be chaotic.
Though Rein wanted to appreciate the beauty of the place first. He also saw floating rocks and islands in the skies as he watched and saw waterfalls from it. Dispersing midway to become clouds.
He then watched children play on the fields and saw them rolling while laughing. Their mother soon went to catch up to them. Roan laughed a bit and then turned serious.
He was then teleported to the starting point and then watched several others who were the same. All other players were teleported toward the starting point. Making them confused about what was happening.
What happened? Why are we here?
A glitch maybe
Hey, is this a bug?
I am fighting mobs. Why am I here?
All were in utter confusion. Roan then assessed the situation and concluded, "So it has begun,"
After finishing assessing himself, he immediately saw a darkened figure in the sky. He has a looming figure that could engulf the entire city. With robes that were moving and felt alive like an octopus slithering tentacles.
"All players of Grim Dark Online! I am the hacker of this world. The creator of this world—Arthurn Magelight was now dead" he said then raised his hands.
"I am removing the log-out feature as it will make a more realistic feel. You all have to finish the game and beat the 100th floor to be released to these bindings," he said and the players soon were in turmoil. All expressing troubled looks and mouths agape.
"Now players! Beat the game and prove to me your worth! Also, death is permanent. Death here is death in real life!" he said in a more bolstering voice. Now, the players were all silent. Slowly digesting what he said just now.
"I will wait on the 100th floor! Don't let me wait for long! Huhahaha!" The figure said then he disappeared. It was then, several shouts were heard. Several of them were girls and kids.
Roan was expecting it to happen so he was not affected that much. But in the past, he felt hopeless. Even a beta player like him was not excused from such a predicament. He then was alarmed and then saw some familiar faces.
They were his friends in the past and surely wanted to help them level up. He approached them but hesitated. The crowd soon went into chaos and he was bumped enough to make him stumble on the brick floor. They soon disappeared with all the chaos and headed somewhere where Roan was not able to see where they went.
This game was a popular one for its super duper hardcore difficulty. You could die in a flash without even having a fight. And believe me, it's hard to die once as you could sense pain. All in all, it was fearsome to die and you could feel your life ebbing and slipping away from your soul.
By the way, Rein regressed and yes there were magical moments here where MC could revert the time. He regressed to the server opening and remembered the death of their team. They named it "Nameless Gods".
They were having fun and suddenly they were in chaos. They could not logout, worst case was, he was not regressed before his login into the game, he can't get out now. All due to the fact that some hijackers made some adjustments to the system and planted a virus to the program. Worst was no one could logout and death was a real sensation. No one also saw other dead players to revive or ressurect. Was this even a game? They asked.
Then he remembered, he has to save his friends or their death in the game will be inevitable. Yes, his friends that were also stuck here. A carefree and ignorant brat that will die in the first boss dungeon raid.
He had accepted it at first that he could not save anyone at first but he regressed this time and this far where the game still has to begin.
Armed with his knowledge and experience, he had his hope ignited once again. Maybe he could save them? Maybe not too. No one could play as hardcore as him and as veteran as him. Making him to suck it off without complaining....
The system was hacked by the hijackers and planted a virus to kill the players when they die in the game.... luckily MC can turn back the time back to the beginning. But instead it became an endless curse for him. Was it a gift? Or not? Maybe the latter....
Then luckily his friends were on the same server..... Their first run will be perilous....they died numerous times....but this time, he will be serious.....he will try at least. Though his mental fortitude was beginning to fade and he became more and more stone hearted. His life as a soul has even reached a thousand years of play time.
"And so here we go again....." Rein just muttered.
He went to the game and created his first run....
To his surprise, his favorite classes were there...sadly, he could only pick one.
His top 4 choices were Lycan, Druid, and Necromancer ...next and last was Dragonoid.
They belonged to summoners and Shapeshifters but he could not underestimate them.....they were all belonging to the S class group and his personal favorites.
"Unli retries huh....well let's start!"
