In the year 2090, the Earth had long forgotten the meaning of peace.
The sky no longer shimmered blue. It bled crimson at dawn and moaned with storm clouds at dusk. Cities were nothing but skeletal remains of a world that once celebrated skyscrapers, lights, and noise. Now, silence ruled the world… except for one sound — the groaning of the dead.
A virus, coded only in ancient records as VX-97, had escaped control. It didn't just kill. It converted — turning people into flesh-hungry monsters. Zombies — but not the dumb, slow kind. These were faster, stronger, deadlier. And above all... evolving.
Yet in this bleeding chaos, nature had not surrendered. Somewhere deep in the wastelands of Eurasia, a safe zone bloomed — Verdantia. A sanctuary grown around a rare bio-organic forest, whose unknown radiation seemed to repel the undead. It was as if the Earth itself was fighting back.
---
Inside Verdantia lived a boy.
Rai Tenma, 17 years old. A hardened soul in a young body. Cold eyes, jet-black hair, a permanent scowl, and a scar running across his right eyebrow — a reminder of the past. Five years ago, he had watched his mother and father — both elite scientists — leave Verdantia to search for the final element needed to complete the cure for the VX-97 virus.
They never returned.
Rai was only 12.
He remembered the last thing his father told him:
> "We're close, Rai. The cure is almost complete… we just need one final element. And you'll be the one to find it, someday."
Those words were carved into his mind — burned alongside the images of two torn lab coats and a distant scream.
From that day, Rai changed.
He stopped being a child. He trained relentlessly, fought in simulated zombie chambers, studied virology, robotics, and hand-to-hand combat. While others feared the outside world, Rai dreamt of destroying it — or cleansing it.
His hatred for zombies wasn't about survival. It was personal.
---
The Verdantia Defense Force trained squads to someday retake the world. But only elite recruits were chosen.
Squad 9 was different.
They weren't elite.
They were rejected, imperfect, incomplete. But they had potential.
And most importantly — they had Rai.
Alongside Rai, Squad 9 had five members:
1. Arika Maeno – The cold-eyed sniper girl who never missed a shot. Raised by militant survivalists. Hated boys. Especially Rai — or so she pretended.
2. Leo Kazuki – A loud, reckless blade-fighter with a death wish. Called his twin daggers "Lust" and "Mercy."
3. Yuna Serika – The team medic. Genius IQ. Believed emotions were viruses.
4. Kota Renji – The team's heavy artillery specialist. Once a pro gamer, now a silent warhound.
5. Rai Tenma – Squad leader. No mercy. No emotion. Just one goal — finish what his parents started.
---
But Verdantia was crumbling.
The natural barrier keeping zombies away — a strange plant energy called Flora Pulse — was weakening. Day by day, zombies crept closer. The inner core predicted that in less than 4 months, the zone would fall.
And the cure still wasn't complete.
Only Rai knew the final element. His father had left clues in encrypted DNA logs hidden in Rai's blood. But decoding it needed access to an old lab — located outside the safe zone, now crawling with evolved zombies.
Rai volunteered to lead the mission.
Squad 9 was chosen to accompany him — even though they weren't ready. Their training wasn't complete. Their bonds were weak. Some hated each other. Some feared the outside. None of them were built for this mission.
But there was no time left.
And so began their journey into the Rotfields — a world filled with rot, war-beasts, infected animals, and a chilling wind that whispered names of the dead.
---
But the undead… had a leader.
His name was lost to the world. But they called him…
Kael Nibori.
He looked human.
He spoke like one.
But his eyes — empty. Hollow. Haunted by a past darker than any virus.
Once, Kael was a soldier. One of the best. He lived in the old capital. He had a family. A wife. A baby boy who had just learned to say "Papa." But when the virus spread, the Council decided to cut off infected zones.
Kael's neighborhood was labeled contaminated.
Instead of sending aid, they locked the gates… and left them to die.
Kael watched his wife take a bullet.
Watched his child get ripped apart by the turned.
And then… something awoke inside him.
He didn't die.
He changed.
VX-97 mutated inside him — merging with pure vengeance. Unlike others, he remained conscious… but gained the ability to control the infected.
Now, he commands hordes.
And he remembers Verdantia.
He remembers those who closed the gates.
And he plans to finish the world… one bloodline at a time.
---
Now begins the final war.
🩸 Between a broken boy chasing a cure and a broken man seeking extinction.
🩸 Between love blooming in chaos… and hatred boiling in silence.
🩸 Between the last survivors of Earth… and the dead who refuse to rest.
This is not a story of zombies.
It's a story of revenge, sacrifice, and the blood that binds us.
