Chapter 1 - Night at the tavern

"Two orders here!"

"Coming right up!"

"Drink! Drink! Drink!"

This place was rather rowdy than one would imagine, but the situation right now is not new as it is an everyday thing for the tavern. Filled with customers from finishing a quest, raiding a dungeon, or even just celebrating simple occasion.

"Drink... more..!"

Drunk and loud, the tall and muscular figure bearing a priest-like attire combined with scales and a tail, he cheered. Not that it would bother everyone since every other customers around him are also doing the same gesture. Considering the amount of beers he had taken, there's no point in stopping him now.

"You should slow down, Drakniqisz. Also is John alright? He's not moving since his first drink― I think he's already dead drunk."

Upon checking the person right across from him, he lifted the hood from John's head, revealing his black hair. John is indeed dead drunk.

Although he has a feminine build, it didn't stop him from entering and exiting dungeons. His main problem is that he lacks the same alcohol tolerance as his party members, which makes him the first to pass out.

"Seriously? From just one beer...?"

With a well-built physique. He has medium-length purple hair paired with purple eyes along with a single horn on his forehead. The young man sighed as the thought of having to take care of two drunk people came into his mind.

"Come on, Cae― *hiccup* lum...! Ju― *hiccup*Just one last beer."

"No, let's call it a night, John will not wake up anytime soon so you have to carry him."

Drakniqisz then gulped down the remaining drink he had before standing up from their seats. With the effect of being drunk, his knees started shaking as soon as he lifted John in his arms like a princess.

Caelum was baffled by what he was witnessing, but he couldn't be bothered since he knew that Drakniqisz could keep himself upright even when drunk.

After a few steps away from their table, Drakniqisz accidentally hit one of the customers as they were walking. The lizardfolk continued on his way as he didn't notice the person he bumped into while John was being held in his arms like a princess.

"You stupid lizard! Do you have your eyes closed when you walk?!"

A person yelled, catching Drakniqisz and Caelum's attention as well as the people near them. Behind Drakniqisz was a bald man with fine clothing, similar to what merchants wear, standing proud as he looked at Drakniqisz with anger.

"You put dirt on my clothes, don't you know how much it cost?! It would be more than you adventurers could make!"

The loud and rowdy tavern suddenly went quiet as they heard the words that came out of his mouth. The people around him are nothing but adventurers who risk their lives each and every day fighting monsters so that citizens like him could live peacefully inside the town, behind the giant walls and doors.

Caelum, who couldn't contain his annoyance, unsheathed his sword, pointing the tip at the neck of the bald man. Glaring at him, he didn't speak a single word, but everyone knew that he was about to kill him.

"..."

Everyone silently watched as things unfolded in front of them. The proud merchant who was badmouthing Drakniqisz was covered in sweat as he put up his hands in the air, shaking. He's looking around him as if he were asking for help.

But not a single person stood up for him, as they would've done the same thing as Caelum. Each individual in the room felt no sympathy towards the merchant; they only wished for Caelum to pierce the merchant's neck with his sword.

"Y-you think you would get away with this?!"

Despite the situation, the merchant still had the audacity to speak up. Putting up an act, thinking that Caelum would withdraw his sword.

The young man did in fact withdraw his sword only to swing it after doing so. Everyone gasped after seeing the young adventurer swing his sword swiftly at the merchant.

The merchant closed his eyes, waiting for his death, only to be laughed at by everyone watching the commotion. As his luxurious trousers were cut in half, his pants turned into shorts, revealing his knees.

Caelum then walked up close to the merchant. Grabbing a few gold coins from the bald man's pocket only to give them to him.

"Payment for your... fine clothes, old man."

The bald merchant's face turned red from embarrassment. The merchant ran away, and the tavern went back to being loud and rowdy. As everyone inside witnessed a night they wouldn't forget.

"What a crazy bald man... He reminded me of someone we met before."

"You're right... He seemed oddly similar to... Anyway, we should go. I don't want any more trouble."

The party then finally left the tavern. Finding the closest inn, they decided to spend the night there. Upon entering, the receptionists smiled as they greeted the party.

On the left side was a beautiful maiden with long black hair and glasses. While on the right side was a fine man who seemed to be in his mid-thirties.

Caelum didn't bother looking at the man as he swiftly went toward the female receptionist. Holding her hands, he looked at her with his sharp eyes and charming face.

"Are you, by chance, free tonight?"

Due to Caelum's charisma being one of his best traits, the female receptionist blushed and somehow felt like she had to answer his question.

"B-but I'm already married..."

"Shhh... No one has to know, it'll be just between the two of us."

The charismatic adventurer held her cheek. The receptionist couldn't help but get seduced by the young man. For her, Caelum was the one she was longing for until now.

Drakniqisz, who's been carrying John since earlier, was behind Caelum, looking at him with pure disappointment. As for the other receptionist, he couldn't believe the fierce co-worker was being seduced by a mere adventurer.

"But... My husband..."

"Tsk, fine. Just give us two rooms then."

The seducing vermin was annoyed and disappointed as his charm still wasn't enough for a married woman to fall for him. The other receptionist next to her sighed in relief as he watched the adventurer give up.

"O-oh! yes, of course... That would be 10 gold coins, 5 for each rooms."

"Don't worry, Drak, I'll pay for the rooms."

"Thank you, Caelum. Since my hands are full right now."

After paying the price for the rooms, they took the keys for the rented room. Walking upstairs, they searched for the rooms they paid for.

Standing in front of their door, Drakniqisz was confused why Caelum was looking at him with a serious expression.

"Drak... I'm sorry. I forgot to tell you, I only rented two rooms. So, uh, have fun sleeping with John."

"No no! I know what you're trying to do and I'm not gonna fall for it."

The two party members argued. Drakniqisz insists on giving John to Caelum, while Caelum rejects the offer.

"See ya', Drak!"

Dropping the keys on the ground, Caelum quickly went inside his room and shut the door behind him. Drakniqisz, who was already struggling to carry John, had no choice but to use all his willpower to pick up the keys while having his hands full.

With the moonlight shining through the windows of each room, the three adventurers are now ready to rest and skip the night.
